Whats going on at yellowstone?

Did you actually look??? Or just respond Im not saying trees on fire you can just tell its hot by the trees. But Ive never seen clouds and white stuff with some red follow huge cracks in the earth have you?

I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, but if you did want to keep people from being alarmed one simple thing to do would be to wait until all the little squares on the map would look yellow (over a day old) giving the casual observer the impression that nothing is happening right now.

it's a mosaic...little parts from sat scans pasted together...sucks but it's life...probley get new ones this spring...

Yes, I have been following this thread for several weeks and watching the webcam, as well as reading posts by people who live in the area. There is snow on the ground right now. There is definitely no fire and especially no lava.

edited to add: as far as clouds of white stuff and cracks in the ground - well yeah, it's Yellowstone. There are geysers and great big canyons created by massive geological forces. It is the caldera of a massive volcano.

OK...now that we know it's migrated to the NE toward the Mushpot's it might be time to re-examine the TSG Theory?

You will not believe this since I first typed to look at the google map and I told you one side of the map seems posted together now they have posted the other side look it is so obvious the clouds or whatever make straight lines on both sides You can no longer see everything I was seeing. Seriously look up from the lake at the clouds you can see the terrian is posted in, just a strip down the center is real. What is there that we are not allowed to see. Who read this and changed it, and why. Please look.

Looks like USGS staff is getting the weekend data processed. I see they have added 6 EQs all NE of the lake for Sat. Nothing yet for Sunday, Still processing my guess.

I see ton's of mosaic stripes...taken at different times of day/seasons/weather...some short...some long...it's normal...don't flip out...I very much doubt it's the Government pasting "nice" scenery over a "burned out" landscape...nice try though


BTW...also different slices for different attitudes of viewing..stuff "pops" into out of view in top to bottom layers

Such natural nuclear reactors are not unheard of even near the surface of the earth. Probably the most famous example is Oklo:

The proportions of different isotopes found there is what tipped people off to the fact that something unexpected had happened there.

Guess it's time to watch Soda Butte & Mirror Lk Plateau being that's the Mushpot area...right? both do seem to have activity...

I think I can safely say it is trending downwards I plugged the elevation data into Open Office and charted the past two months then took a 'snapshot' of the past 10 days.

In a direct line the clouds are in direct lines no cute puffy edges the strip up the center was there the other is older. I cant cut and post from google earth or I would. Why did it just change. Did you actually look at what Im talking about?

Everything looks ok on the google earth link to me. Sometimes those are old or look weird.

It is noticable and downward...caldera deflation in that sector from NE magma/fluid/gas movement?

what is the new link for utah.edu with the list of earthquakes they're updating now. They changed the url I'd saved last week.

and what's the new url you're watching with current activity? LKWY is still down on my map and mary lake shows a quake this morning but otherwise less activity than sunday - to me.

Like they keep telling you, it's probably just old sattelite pics 'puzzled' together. But ~ if you really and truly think you see something, then take a screenshot (hit the 'Prt Sr' key / open up a photo editor program (any will do ~ even 'Paint') /paste it /save it/ then come post it up here.
