these thugs are not law enforcement officers, since they do not fit the description. they should immediately be fired, and jailed with no bail...god i just hate this type of treatment and the people that condone it. are there Iranian police working in the police department? what's wrong with the people down there, are they psychotic?

this was aggravated assault, along with felony child abuse, not harrassment, she's 12 yrs. old for god's sake. the citizens down there should pick up pitchforks and torches and march down to the police department and then to the D.A.'s office.

AND yet, people keep voting for more cops, more jails, more laws, and then they wonder why the police feel like they can do anything and get by with anything.

Its amazing how there is NO proof of this even happening yet the LETS KILL THE COPS attitude is alive and well. One news resource printed a story on a case from 2 years ago...and its NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT going to trial...hmmmmm..hey brainiacs...ask yourself a question...WHY would a lawyer only be interested in mediation for a civil suit (aka. MONEY) and not go criminal...I'll tell you why...because the story is mostly BS...and parts are fabricated. Did ANY of what was written happen...no idea..I wasn't there...but I promise you this...if a criminal trial after 2 years went NOWHERE but the lawyer is demanding mediation for CASH...lol..hw much of the story do you honestly believe is true?

As I said before..IF it was true the way it was reported...I would gladly stand with you to have these men fired from the LE community, but, common sense tells me otherwise at this point.

Many of you really need to start taking a breath, READING into the article, checking out the source(s), and using COMMON SENSE before opening your mouths......and we wonder why jury trials are such a failure these days!!!

You know, 20 minutes of investigation could could prevent 90% of these "mistakes"

Grab a some Jehovah witness flyers, go to the door and see if it is the right house. Maybe drive by during the day to verify the address?

Hell, most of the time... knock on the door and say... we have a warrant?

It's always a "shame" when us civilians get shot, or our dogs are shot in the back yard but if the "raiders" are shot.. it is a crime!

Doesn't sound he is defending all police actions that are in violation of the law. He is saying before people yell "String 'em up!," they take a moment and do some research, and make certain they are disgusted and hating for the right reasons.

I don't know why, but this is the one site I thought once I came here, that I'd see the most intelligent, carefully-researched material on the web. And some do take that approach. But I also see a rather lot of people take any story at face value, without any proof whatsoever. And further, many go ballistic when you question the story or the facts. Even going so far as to call you a disinfo agent if you don't agree with them.

There are absolutely bad cops out there. And bad lawyers. And bad preachers, and bankers, and grocery clerks, and butchers, and teachers. Police have the ability, due to their training, gear, and jobs, to take a greater atvantage of situations when they are bad. But I also don't get the mentality that cops are an evil scourge that everyone should hate. Clearly many of you don't actually know any law enforcement officers. There are a heck of a lot that work hard, but their life on the line, and DO actually care, and do NOT abuse the system.

I need to read more into this... and will do so, before I proclaim what a travisty of justice this is. Something isn't right about this story.

I find it odd how much CTrs think that the media is lying or exaggerating in many cases (manipulated by the government), and then when it talks about police incidents, it MUST be telling pure and unbiased truth. Who says the media is infallible in these cases? And in cases where they don't report on something that happens to show up on this website. It is not because the government is censoring them, it's because they doubt the story themselves and are more clever than most of us at determining the truth value to a story. Not that they don't like to be sensationalist, but some stuff, (they as professionals realize, and we as amateurs do not) that some stories are so far out there but might be convincing to the average person. They don't report those stories.

As fleabit stated above...I am NOT defending every police action that occurs and never have. I WILL defend police action thats warranted, even if to other people who are NOT in the profession, it seems brutal, excessive, etc...WHY..because I am a LEO and have been in some real scary situations. I understand what can and will happen out there. So I WILL NOT just jump the gun and bash...just like I don't when I respond to a crime scene. Even though its not always that easy I agree with you. Verifying an address is a MUST, and its not very difficult. I am on the SWAT team at my department and we NEVER have hit the wrong house. Why, because we check, double check, re-double check, then triple confirm etc...

If we aren't sure or think it may not be the house, guess what...we wait. We may not be able to execute the warrant that day..SO WHAT...we can get him another day....its that simple.

As I stated, this officer deserves what he gets. Being right next to Atlanta noone in the LE community feels bad for this guy. But people around here waited for the FACTS to come out BEFORE stringing him up by the nuts. And thats all we need to do...as soon as the evidence is there...by all means...its time to pay!

Are the police really that stupid?

Perhaps there is no other way for them to implant law abiding citizens, people with brains, and folks with moral fiber.

It also could be an introduction into Old Boy Big Bubba playing God, judge and jury and doing what tf he wants knowing his "brotherhood" will cover his lies.

I too live in the Houston/Galveston area. There is one item missing in this story that leads me to believe it is not what it appears. Quanel (sp?) X - local black activist who is always on hand if it appears that blacks have been wronged. If something was legit with this story he would be all over the news here supporting the family and calling for protests. Haven't heard a word from him. Also Texas has a 2 year statute of limitations - that is why the suit is being filed now - before it's too late to get $$$. It would seem to me that if the incident occurred as reported the suit would have been filed at that time rather than waiting for the statute to have almost run. If cops beat up my 12 yr old for no reason I certainly wouldn't wait 2 years to file a suit.

I reckon you folks have been getting a lot of hatemail receantly, I will not hate on you, but I must say that this kind of thing (I'm refering to the beating of the 12 year old girl) has to stop.

Police are not above the law, I know many think that they ARE the law, but they are not.
I know and have seen police doing very unethical things (such as selling illegal drugs) where I'm from, but you must think about what you are doig, not just follow orders.
One day very soon you will be ordered to relieve all civilians of there guns, will you do it? Or will you become a true patriot, a true hero and stand up agianst the "Domestic Tyranny", I've known many cops personally as friends, I've also known many bad cops that I did not lik, nor did they like me, so I'm not painting all cops with the same brush, but I know a great majority of you are involved in some very evil things.

In such a case the media typically gives one side of the story, usually with an extreme bias in favor of the cops.

When an instance of abusive law enforcement makes the papers I mentally revise the story in favor of the citizen in order to get nearer the truth.
