Long time lurker, haven't posted much. Something weird happened the other day though. Let me give a little backround first.

I have a history of sleep paralysis and hearing voices during those incidents. Most of the time it is not decipherable what is being said. Sounds like latin at times and other times it is just laughter.

Only a few times in my life have i ever heard voices while NOT in a sleep paralysis state. About 12 years ago i woke up to a female voice telling me that I had a very personal problem, no one was in the room besides me. I felt very "at peace" after the incident. I took steps to rectify what was said to me and then tried to forget about it.

This past weekend i woke up to a male voice that sounded pretty deep. It said nothing except the word "Seventeen" two times. This has me baffled and i just thought that i would share and see if anyone else has had anything similar happen to them. And i definitely was not dreaming.

i was in college and drinking way too much. The woman's voice just bluntly told me "you are an alcoholic". I heard it clear as day and i still remember her voice to this day

I don't have sleep paralysis but now and then I hear voices. Three years ago, right before I "quit smoking" after 30 years of it, my own voice said "You don't really want that one". I thought "what a wacky thought to have...". As I lit up, it again chimed in "What if that's the one that gives you cancer". HELLO?! After 30 years? Yeah, it's me, right? Hmmm..

The other night as I was falling asleep, I clearly heard a man say "Shoshone" in my ear. The funny thing is that I have a blockage in that ear from a recent ear infection - at my age all the sudden I'm getting kid's diseases.

I still don't know what the Shoshone thing is about, but it will reveal itself in time.

I guess this stuff is more common than i thought. The sleep paralysis voices used to scare the hell out of me when i was younger. The laughter was always evil sounding and the latin? creeped me out. I wish i could have translated what was going on

I don't know what it could be. I wouldn't worry about it though because there really isn't evil. There are only perceptions.

For example, my daughter is clairvoyant. I meditate whenever I can and sometimes rather spontaneously. On this occasion, I fell into a sort of trance-like meditation at the kitchen table. At one point I saw three Native Americans up to my right, out of the corner of my eye. I asked my daughter, who was across the table from me if she could see anything, she said "What? The Indians?" Mouth agape, I said "Yes. Erm... Why are they angry at me?" She replied that they weren't, they were smiling at me. I said "Even the one in the middle?" She said, "What, you mean the old one? He looks very pleased with you."

I have seen him once since. I was doing my one and only guided meditation ever and was ahead of the guidance all the way. When I reached my goal, someone would be there with a message for me. It was him. He handed me my "message" and, in a very annoyed fashion told me in no language that I could understand verbally that I know exactly what I have to do now go away and do it and stop bothering him. lol I'm very certain that it's simply me projecting my own fear of inadequacy onto the situation.

By the way, my daughter and I have precisely the same picture of him mentally. We've only recently started to compare notes on that since I heard the "Shoshone" thing. Since then I've been searching for whatever he's trying to tell me. I'm personally not from Shoshone territory. Not, at least, in this lifetime.

See a doctor. Have him/her check you out.
Hallucinations can come from many different medical reasons.
If the doctors give you an 'all clear' then look to the supernatural.

The fact that other people have experienced it makes me feel better...especially the latin voices, those creeped me out.

I don't think the voices i heard in the morning were hallucinations. I was wide awake right afterwards and remember both really vividly. That has only happened to me a few times in 15 years...who knows.

People who have hallucinations are usually absolutely sure that they aren't hallucinations. Those things are tricky that way.

See a doctor.
Look to the supernatural IF - and only if - they give you an all clear.

The thing is, it doesn't happen on a regular basis. The sleep paralysis thing hasn't happened to me in a long time. The being woken up by a voice thing has only happened to me 3 times in 33 years

I've always been interested in people hearing voices in this way - and yes I do know you don't have to have a mental screw loose to hear them once in a while!

I my self have only had one instance of it happening to me.... (well one where the voices were clearly audible - I have permanent tinnitus, and I have thought I heard people talking in other rooms and things like that, till I tune in and realise that just at that time the tinnitus in in the human voice frequency range, which does happen, I get the whole range of frequency's)

Basically this one and only time I can comment on scared the hell out of me! Made my heart pound like anything for 5 minutes
it was a good couple of years ago now - and I've forgotten the word which was said right now, I've not thought about it much till now - but I do know the word was short, like one syllable and it really didn't relate to anything - I wish I could remember what it was now.

Because I worked nights I had been fast asleep in the afternoon when it happened, it was a male and female voice out of nowhere, they said the same thing but the female voice was slightly delayed, ie the male voice was ever so slightly first.

At the time I really put it down to it being the end of a vivid dream - maybe related to the odd meal and sleep schedule - I wish I could remember that damn word now

I have to wonder about all the "see a doctor" advice people feel compelled to give here. WTF has a doctor ever done but dose you to the eyeballs with pills and any other quick 'n easy fix? Why in god's name would anyone trust *them*?!

Trust your own mind. Know your own mind. That sort of condescending disclaimer stuff is getting old.

I know myself pretty well. I'm not given to delusions and know what I heard.

Now after reading about this earthquake stuff in the other threads I'm wondering if "SEVENTEEN" doesn't mean the 17th of December. It is a leap i know, but now I'm thinking i should head out of town that day

I think if someone is trying to tell us something, we should perhaps listen. I don't know about numbers though. It could mean anything. Perhaps you could ask for more information.

There was a period I went through where I got disjointed info. I couldn't make heads nor tails of any of it. Once I saw a frosty day and *17 OCTOBER* which I erroneously interpreted to mean that winter would come that day. This was probably a couple of years back. I don't make such assumptions anymore. Just the once was enough.

However, I did ask if they were genuinely trying to tell me something and if so, could they tell me something in my dreams that night that I would have no other way of knowing. In the morning, I recalled the word EXOCEM flashed twice in front of my eyes, but it was as though I were very small, like a mouse, and it was on the label of some sort of cans or tins on a shelf.

Naturally I went straight to the Net to search for Exocem. The only pages I could find were in Italian, Spanish and Portugese (check for yourselves) - oh, and one page of research on dental cements but it only had a paragraph summary of the four compared cements. Why would I ever have needed to know about a dental cement, an architectural cement bulking product or the stuff that gives the paint on the streets its bulk? I gathered that was what Exocem was used for, as I speak none of those languages above.

They give you info all the time. There are more signs than we give attention to so wondering what it all means is futile until we really learn to watch, look and listen.

Don't worry. I haven't learned to do it yet either. I'm not preaching to you any more than I am to myself.

No worries, i am slowly learning to trust my gut feeling and inner voices. The thing that is weird this has only happened two other times in my life and they were pretty important things. I just hope i can figure out what this 17 means before its too late

How interesting!

I remember being awakened once as a child to hear voices saying "Eight" over and over again. I was eight years old at the time so maybe that had something to do with it. It has been so long ago that I don't remember much about it, other than: the voices (male and female together) woke me up; they kept saying "Eight" but it was as if the word was wrong or as if it had some other meaning that i didn't understand since they sounded so forceful and almost angry about it; it was frightening; I felt sick and oppressed; and my heart was pounding.

The scary part that I remember well was that the voices kept going after I was most certainly awake. Not for long - i ran from the room and slept on the floor at the foot of my parents' bed.

That has never happened again and i have never discovered the significance or alternate meaning of 'eight' (and it did seem to be the number eight, perhaps i had dreamed of the number prior to the voices). To be honest, i have always associated it with migraines, because the feeling of sickness was very similar. I have learned that auditory hallucinations are an uncommon aura or prodrome phase of migraine for some folks... so perhaps in my case it was just an early migraine. Could this be a possibility for you?

Since you have had positive associations with your voices, maybe not. But if you don't understand the message, I wouldn't worry too much. If it is something that needs to be clarified, it probably will be.

Good luck and keep us posted.
