I was glancing out our kitchen window at 5:25 in Millwoods and saw a big greenish coloured ball with a yellow tail falling out of the sky. It looked like it would land around Millwood's Town Centre...reminded me of a piece off HUGE fireworks when they blow up and whistle down to the ground! No time for a camera..Wow!!

green, huge, whistle noise?

Possibly a small Meteor with Iron elements in it.

This would account for the greenish color. Iron oxide burns green.

So there you have it. Meteor. No conspiracy, no cover up, just nature and the universe at work. Time to move on.

It wasnt just in Edmonton guys... Down here south of Lethbridge we saw the fireball in the sky shortly after 5pm heading North. Which means whatever it was has been seen from the lethbrisge area to Fort mcmurray area in a matter of 35-40 minutes.

Hi there,
I was on my patio when I saw the meteor. It flew through the northwest skies. It was about the size of a softball with chunks breaking off of it. If you were to line up 5 or 6 softballs that would be about the length of the tail. If you were outside that night you couldnt have missed it. It was very bright.
I have been a night-sky watcher for more than half my life and I have never seen something like this. It was amazing!

I live in Lloydminster on the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan. As much as i hate to plug the local radio station, they have been getting alot of calls all night about what it was. It seemed to have been around fairly close to this area as we are hearing it being seen as far South as Calgary and the northern US, as far north as Cold lake Alberta, as far west as British columbia, and as far East as Manitoba.

Click "listen Live" on the top left
www.borderrock.com...

I did not see it, but I definately heard it from inside the palce where I work around ten after five, and felt one hell of a rumble along with it.

Best of luck finding out what it is, Its bothering the piss outta me that I got stuck working late and missed seeing it!

Cheers
Waldo

This is very odd.... I'm an eye witness.... and there's nothing really that I could relate this to... I'm not sure exactly how much information has been obtained by this forum but a couple things I can tell you guys...

The weather here in edmonton today was very windy and around -8 celcius... if My memory serves me correct it was a relatively clear day... if not entirely clear...

I was driving into downtown edmonton around 5:25-5:28 I witnessed what I thought at the time was a transformer exploding... then when I looked up there was the rather large orangy green flash...

To me it didn't appear as flames... something hotter.. .and it came down onto the horizon....

Sightings have been reported up from northern alberta (Fort Mac.. down to red deer)... we're talking a area that spans around 600 km's...

From the video above it looks like it did actually hit the ground.

Shouldn't something the size of the meteor in the video make a damn big whole if it was even a medium density ?

ignore the post. Somebody posted an old video.

Dang you old video posters!

I saw a fireball this evening, about 150 miles from you (Dothan, AL).
Been quite a few lately, including an awesome horizon-horizon one a couple weeks ago @ the drive-in movie. Probably a meteor.

I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary regarding military aircraft, but I'm out in the country, North of Edmonton.

I'm sure curious where this landed though.
