Why do people always talk about going to Canada if shtf in the US, that always seemed stupid to me because if whatever happens in the US spreads it will go to Canada and Mexico and if your in Mexico you could possibly escape further south and go either to the Carribean or South America but if you were to go to Canada and it spreads up there where are you going to go North Pole, Greenland, Russia, Iceland

If you were to go south you could go to the carribean, South America possibly some of the small islands in the Pacific or Atlantic or try to sail to oceania, asia or africa.

I certainly would go south...warmer=good.
Eventually any winter gear you take with you to Canada is going to wear out.

If things go belly up in the states and the SHTF as many here state is in the process of happening. About the last place you would want ot go is Canada. And I'm from Canada so this isn't so sucker punch at us cannucks. The fact of the matter is 80% thats right 80 freaking % of our exports go directly south to the states. So if anything bad was to happen to the states I would say it's safe to pressume that Canada will not be to far behind.

If the States fail, Canada fails thats a fact thats easy to see. The Canadian government has made this country so dependant on our big brother to the south that our great country could never survive a US meltdown. It's sad but it's true.

If i could manage to do it, I to would take my family south and attempt a bolt to the caribbean or south America, then perhaps try to find a way to Europe or Asia.

If, and i stress IF everything goes to hell as people say then the last place I'd want to be would US or Canada for that matter. especially with our new agreement our Canadian government passed with Bush, that allows American troops to come into our Country and the other way around if a state of emergency is declared in both countries...

That one almost floored me....

Link to new agreement.

I'm with you on the fight. I would, however leave if it got too bad. I'd head south and take every day as it comes.

Canada is a lovely country and they speak English for the most part. What I really think is people want to relive the Vietnam daze and run to the safety of Canada.

It's only cold part of the year in most of Canada, but it is very, very tolerable.

I don't know it doesn't make sense, Canada is in a place now that lot of Americans think the U.S. is headed. Socialised health care, Gun Control, and all that stuff.

Please take a look at my thread Where should I move--HELP!. We are discussing other possible places to go. I think like most of you guys ---no NAU countries and no EU countries.....

I meant as in if there is a war on us soil, nuclear war, yellowstone eruption, martial law or something else happens and you really want to get out to survive. Going north when the US is almost at the top of the americas you can only go so far north before you start hitting ice and not land, while if you went south you could go as far the southern most tip of Argentina or the Falkland Islands.

I understand fighting for your country but at some point there may be a decision to abandon ship to either save yourself or your loved ones

It is natural instinct to survive... So why not just accept the changes and go along with it? Our Species cannot continue on this route. I welcome change with open arms. Can you honestly look around and tell me "We can make this work" ? Big change is coming to this planet, and with the momentum it has gained, it cannot be stopped. At least their will be some form of order(for once). I hope to see some of you on the other side of this. -cpNJ

Why do Americans always think they can invade Canada en masse if the SHTF in their country?

Do you honestly think we'd let you in?

You Yanks are already a Massive burden on our Healthcare system coming here for "free" treatment, which is paid for by our tax dollars - stealing from us, not to mention the tens of thousands of American Homeless we care for.... goddamn border jumpers.

They should all be deported. They are billion-dollar strain on our weak, puny economy and they are ungrateful too.. until they get hurt or sick; then the Yanks come running to Dear Old Canada begging us to save them.

I wonder how many Canadian have died because some stupid American was taking up space in the Operating Room - or otherwise distracting the doctors from saving the very Canadians who pay their Salary.

That's right - Canadians Come first.

A lockup for the most uninformed post of the decade.

The Americans are no burden on our health care, they don't get our health care for free. There are SOME Americans that live in Canada because they either have Canadian citizenship or have married a Canadian, or work here with a visa. In those situations they receive our social health care, and they have every right to. They like you pay their health care taxes, and they like you have a right to timely (timely? not in Canada it isn't) care. And newsflash for you my friend, they aren't running to Canada in droves.

And, until you start complaining about the Canadians that cross the border into the USA for health care because they can afford it, don't you be complaining about Americans in Canada that have both paid for and earned the right to use the Canadian system.

Finally, our health care system is no golden savior either. The city of Philadelphia has more MRI machines than Canada. That is freaking pathetic. Any time you have a socialized system, the good or service offered is rationed. It can't be any other way. You are so typical of the American hater. You are so consumed with your hatred for Americans that you refuse to see the failings of our own system. Our health care system is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy while people are waiting sometimes more than a year for simple procedures like hip replacements. We need to fix our system before we proudly boast about how much better it is than the one to the south. We MUST look to countries like France, Norway, Denmark, etc that have a mix of private and public care paid for by public dollars. No private insurers, All public tax dollars paying for the care, and private enterprise giving the care and competing for that public money. It is the best option

the only reason I would travel to canada if tshtf has to do more with locational strategy then anything. Let us say for example, that they close down the airports right? Well, the only states that would easily be able to travel south, are those near the mexican border, after that, you have to pray to god you can survive travelling through the jungles of panama because there are no roads from panama to south america due to the jungles (this is what I heard 2 decades ago though, so it could have changed by now).

I currently live in GA and plan on moving to the midwest (so my wife can be with her family) Now. If I were to stay in GA when tshtf I have a LOT going against me, I have to travel through 5+ states, and then PRAY that I can manage to survive traveling through war torn mexico, and even if I somehow manage to survive, I have to pray I can survive the panamenian jungles to make it safely to south america.

Now, if I move to the midwest as is planned, will it I still encounter more risk? possibly, but I'll have a shorter distance to travel (only 2 and a half states from where I'd be located instead of 5+) Once in canada, I could potentially hide in some of the nearby islands that are in between the borders of the US and canada until I can get a flight down to south america or if need be, move further north, or hide within the indian reservations (my thinking is that canada will not subject as easily to the NWO as the US has and they might not close down their airports as quickly the US will) not to mention canada doesn't have the same kind of drug war violence going on that mexico has.

I feel for my family members though, they live in GA too and they did say that if they have to, they'll move to south america, no problem, the thing is, they haven't taken into account that the airporsts might close, and that if they try to travel south through mexico, first, that they'll have more distance to cover and second, that, that is the first place the authorities will be looking for fugitives, not to mention that the Mexico/US border is small enough that it could easily be covered and they can easily grab them and take them away. Where as the canada/US border being so big, it's easier to slip in off radar.

Also, where I'm moving in the midwest, there's an area within those 2 states that I believe can be used as a safe haven and a good hiding spot from the NWO govt. So yeah, as you can see, I've been thinking about this and strategizing my exodus for quite some time. My wife thinks I'm being a bit over the top, but as the saying goes "luck favors the prepared"

Please tell me you're joking. Canada barely needs the United States. Canada is one of the largest producers of timber, oil, uranium, and hydroelectric power on the planet. Canada is a resource based economy and their products would be in such high demand during this hypothetical crisis that it would fair very well all on its own. Of course, there would be an adjustment period, but that won't send the economy tanking. Its financial system is secure and sound, and has not yet been affected by the recent Wall St. crisis, where as so far nearly all other industrialized nations have. The only reason I wouldn't go up to Canada when SHTF is because most of populated Canada is right on the 49th parallel, right on the border that is. If there were to be mass migrations it might not be such a pretty place.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think as Canadians that we would keep our border open for you to just file in?
If the tables were turned, you'd close yours to us.
The increased border security is more of a pain for us Canadians versus Americans.
All of you are treating us as terrorists since 9/11.
If the SHTF..bully for you.

In a Utopian world, yes.
The gates and armed guards at the borders beg to differ.

I guess it stems from history, not modern reality.

Historically, when American people wanted to avoid being sent to the mincemeat-machine of war, avoid having their children drugged into zombies by their schools, or, heck, even criminals escaping justice, Canada and Mexico where the prime destinations, depending on the place where this 'refugee' lived.

But these days, with all the treatys going back and forth, the superhighways and the Amero looming on the horizon it just isn't realistic to think anymore that by 'escaping to either Canada or Mexico, you would be evading the US laws.. maybe it'd mean a delay, but ultimately you'd be just as trapped.

just my 2 cents offcourse.

If the SHTF and any human being was in trouble and came to me, I would gladly extend my help if I was in a position to do so.

I am a proud Canadian, but I try to live my life first as decent human being.

And you can count on a failing Canadian economy if the US economy fails - with 3/4 of our exports going to our neighbours to the south, and over half of our imports coming from them. To suggest there would be no impact is ludicrous.

I will forget for that moment, the corruption of our governmental leaders, their treaties, their pacts, and their lies. If the time comes where an American man, woman, or child is on our doorstep in need of help; and we respond with disdain and scorn because of a bad encounter with a border agent, or a similar negative individual experience, then shame on us as human beings

The responses on here make me sick.

I tip my hat to you, very well said. I'd also like to add that most Canadians are just like you. I remember the terrorist attacks on the WTC, and all of the planes destined for the USA from Canada that were grounded. There were literally thousands of Americans that were given refuge in the homes of Canadians. Nobody was turned away. They were given food, drink, a place to sleep, and not asked for a thing in return. THAT is the Canadian way. I get so frustrated when I see anti-Americanism or anti-Canadianism on these boards, and it's nice to see a post like this. My home will always be open to my American brothers and sisters.
