from the news article:
I don't doubt that workers in the field are bogged down with heavy case loads and all, but the bureaucracy is at fault, and especially the lawyers, for allowing this abomination to happen.
Police twice asked for cross-agency meetings but, in the week before Baby P's death, Haringey's lawyers said there was not enough information to begin care proceedings.
Instead of erring on the side of caution - intervening when signs first appeared everyone is hampered by fears of lawsuits.
Its just sick!
I hated reading this article, but people need to know its happening.
I worked in social services for a long time, but found that it was just too fraught with examples of bureaucratic nonsense. The only people who survive in the field are those who can turn their emotions off and get hardened. The whole thing ends up ineffective.
Meanwhile children die.
I can't begin to express my sorrow, and anger.

Unfortunately I can imagine both Brown and Cameron seeking to capitalise on this awful event for a wider political purpose
The cry of "If only there had been a unified NHS/DSS/RSPCA/DNA & criminal database this never would have happened" will go up, knee-jerk legislation made, and the next step toward the ID card database plan taken
She said: "The agencies are not responsible for his death.I certainly won't be resigning."
...hampered the investigation into the death of Baby P by not handing over all their information to murder squad detectives.
It was only when the trial got to court and the judge requested that they provide all their evidence that police officers were able to see everything they had.
Hate begets hate...its is truly sickening, but wishing even more evil things against the perpetrators makes you no better.Let them have a fair trial in Britain and the courts will give them what they deserve, years in prison, hopefully until the end of their days.
I would be cautious about calling for 'social services' to be given increased powers each time a gruesome story like this surfaces. The chances are that any extra powers handed to social services to meddle will be misused anyway-and end up victimising innocent families.

What in the heck might I say?
A baby being murdered. Nothing more aggregious in my opinion. NOTHING. As most of you know I am a proponent of the death penalty. The murderous vermin who killed this innocent child deserve a date with the needle in my opinion. No excuses, no leniency. I don't apologize for my strong beliefs. Did you see the pictures? Did you read the story? NO EXCUSES. NONE. An innocent baby beaten to death by adults. I can say no more.
I pray that this child sits in heaven in pure peace.
