'Impeach Obama' groups pop up on Facebook

Barack Obama has not even been sworn in yet as the 44th president of the United States but groups are springing up online calling for his impeachment.

On Facebook, an "Impeach Barack Obama" group has attracted more than 700 members and a lively debate about the Democrat's election victory on Tuesday over Republican John McCain.

Another Facebook group of the same name has 160 members and urges others to join because "we might as well get a head start on the impeachment of Obama."

"There are a lot of Americans out there that do not fully understand the concept of Socialism or Communism which is why they've elected Obama as president," it says. Yet another Facebook group, "Impeach Barack Hussein Obama," has 160 members.

Poor Obama, he hasn't even been inaugurated yet and some people already treat him as if he's Bush jr (worst even).

My question is ... why? Do you think because his view is very liberal (according to some), or it has something to do with him being the first african american president. If somehow the latter has something to do with all the negativity, then, no matter how good Obama will be, these people will always find excuses to denounce him.

My view on this, I think it's because the McCain campaign and supporters manage to portray the view that Barack Hussein Obama
is an arab or a muslim or a communist or whatever and the conservatives are buying it.

The sad part is, I sense some people not just don't believe that Obama can succeed, but they want him to fail. It's okay if you don't believe obama plan will work but wishing him to fail, that's just inappropriate, he hasn't do anything bad, he hasn't even begun. Even Bush jr get better treatment than that.

Strange things can happen though, maybe "the hussein" is a communist after all, but then again it could be simply conservatives paranoia or xenophobia going berserk.

edit: thread tittle doesn't show

I say leave the man alone! What are these people wanting to impeach him for? He's not even the president yet. I think that people need to give him a chance to prove what he can do. After all, he can't be any worse than Bush( hopefully)

these are probably people with a job but nothing to do at work. just sit online and cry about a minority being president. Until they lose that job and see him working hard for them even then they may still cry foul simply because those people thrive on complaining no matter if it was him or mccain.

It's amazing that Americans are this quick to urge impeachment of a President-Elect...

...yet, didn't realize the countless acts of President George W. Bush that should/could have resulted in trial for impeachment.

Sad many Americans are so absolutely ignorant of Constitutional law and the true tenets of our once-outstanding government.

There are people that wanted to impeach Bush for no reason...what comes around goes around.

After 8 years of Bush bashing, why does it surprise some people that Obama might get bashed also.

It's not going to be long into the Obama Presidency that people are going to be wishing we had someone like Bush back in the White House.

if anyone takes these people seriously then they have power. do not give them any legitimate voice and they will have no power. think of them as kindergartners fighting over a toy

Only when they gain at least 1% of the population of the US should you be worried. There are a lot of weirdo's on planet Earth, We who discuss fringe topics are considered weirdo's, some of Us consider some of Us weirdo's, I know I do. Its annoying, hating on someone because you just don't seem to "get" them. Even as I write that, I think of all the people who post nonsense (see I wrote nonsense to sound belittling) on here, and how I detest them. Its weird.

I pray to whatever god or gods are watching me/us that Obama does a phenomenal job of being president of the USA, hopefully he spends more than one term as president (term = 4 years ?) and unites the world IN A GOOD WAY ( to all the NWO folks).

Here are just 35 "nonsense" reasons President George W. Bush could/should have been impeached. not even the republicans want someone like bush back in the white house. and bashing obama is alot different then impeaching him. but of course, you being a republican, i would have to point that out to you. by the way bush is still everybodys president for another 73 days and he will get all the blame for this mess long past jan. 20th.

So it's perfectly OK for a George Soros funded website to encourage impeachment for Bush, but let some right-wingers get together to do the same to Lord Obama??? The Bush Impeachment organizers were busy planning before Bush took office also.

Like I said earlier...what comes around goes around. Bush was a man and he handled it, can Obama?

It's difficult for me to argue against your logic, because you named him Lord Obama. I don't consider to him to nearly as high regard as so many conservative Republicans. He was the better of two choices, which is why I wanted to vote Libertarian.

I'm a Constitutionalist and continue to argue impeachable offenses against President George W. Bush. President-Elect Obama is yet to commit offenses after being sworn-in. What Republicans may actually be confusing is socialism from fascism. I tend to think they fear his fascist-like policies that may emerge. Socialism is an economic system. If President-Elect Obama is in fact a socialist, our government/economy is ALREADY socialist since September 2008. Therefore, he likely could not be impeached on the merits of "being socialist."

It will be interesting to see how things transpire throughout the next term(s).

Perhaps we will all be reminded to constantly side with the President-Elect and never question the adminstration's policies, as was conducted throughout President Bush's terms.

As President Bush and Mayor Giuliani once so eloquently stated, "either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."

Well this is just asinine... At least give the guy a chance before trying to impeach him. I say this as someone who didn't vote for him and even I can see how moronic it is to want to impeach him before he actually does something worthy of impeachment.

Yes it was. Trying to impeach anyone before they actually do something worthy of impeachment is asinine regardless of which politician we are talking about.

At first I thought that was ridiculous, but on second thought its more like the movie Minority Report, where you know someone is going to commit a crime already and are simply charging them in advance. Fair enough. I think anyone who takes action to advance the "patriot" ACT is bound to commit additional crimes, such as supporting George Bush style kidnap & imprisonments.

Think Obama is going to close all of our secret (unconstitutional) overseas prisons? I hope so but don't think he will. So may as well get the ball rolling now. Not that I would put any effort into it as Bush has showed politicians can truly get away with anything. I also think Obama will continue Bush's highly criminal wiretapping which are gross violations of privacy and are very serious crimes in my opinion. Hope for the best but plan for the realistic.

Monkey see monkey do huh? In case you don't know, and by your silly assumptions it appears, Obama is NOT Bush. Two different people. We should've impeached all presidents of the United States? You are implying just that with your repeating spam.
