Well it didn't take long for the piss and vinegar crowd to get going huh?

Just can't find it in yourselves to be as gracious as McCain was can you?

Prayers for Mr. Obama's well being and guidance are more applicable now... that is unless you have so sort of vested interest in division.

This is a historic moment for America. Suck it up.

Who are all these lazy Americans you keep talking about? There have been people sucking on the tit of welfare forever. Do you think that suddenly that will change? The American dream you blather on about is no dream at all, it is made up to convince you that everyone else is not enjoying the life they have. Work hard pay taxes buy things be a good consumer, we need to grow and consume. Yeah what a dream

Blah, enough of the hate speech...

Obama or McCain, any american can agree on one thing tonight:

As a Nation, we have proved that one of our basic premises are true.... All are created equal...

Even people who hate obama can recognize the significance of that...

In 40 years, we have elected a black man to the presidency...

In 80 years, we have not allowed women the same...

Maybe thats in 2012... who knows... but all have to admit that the face of racism has changed tonight...

Let's face it, there are powerful people running this country behind the scenes who have profited immensely from the current economic crisis. I wouldn't be suprised if it was planned out in advance. Whether anything changes for the better in the future is anyone's guess. It will take a long time no matter what.

McCain should not have wimped out. He should have pulled a Hill and waited for all the votes to be counted.

So, does anyone have any theories as to how long it'll be before freedom-loving people will have to go underground, lest we become prey to the thought police?

Believe me, as I pause and read what I just wrote, it sounds ludicrous to me, too, but with the whole shame of "hate legislation", the freedom to question our government that we enjoy now may be frittered away as hate speech. I've never been one for dramatics, but I am truly frightened at what we have ahead of us, and I'm afraid I don't know what I'm going to do when it all comes down.

i'm not entirely sure that things will be as bad as some believe they will be

i'm also not convinced that things will be as great as others think

i'm of the mind that things will pretty well average out in the long run. presidents come and go, it's the country that is the most important and i don't think one man being elected to run it has ever caused it all to shatter into pieces.

ultimately, it is us who are in charge. it is us that will change this country for better or worse by choosing to allow ourselves to be distracted by what other people stand for and what other people do instead of becoming active in our own communities and involved in ways that make a real difference.

don't let who wins an election make you frown. that's giving someone else power over your perception and ultimately, over you. you are in charge of yourself as an individual and the decisions we all make individually are what truly determine the direction we as a collective take

You will see that communism may actually teach you all a lesson. I'm not talking about the extreme power imbalances and genocide that has occurred in the past, but rather, the fundamentals. You will see that you will all be happy.
Congratulations Obama on your victory. It was well earned.
Go ahead, bash me!

Fair enough...

Perhaps it's time to repeal quotas and affirmative action regulations, don't you agree?

Yes I agree there is a very large contingent of lazy SOB's that strive to take more and more from the government. My taxes are through the roof because some lazy lil sob wants to pop out a couple kids just to get a bigger check. I'm tired of financing the drug war.. I'm tired of financing everyone elses social ilks when I am struggling to support my family.. I work hard to keep my son and my daughter safe and I work hard to keep the government out of my business and mind my own... I live very humbly and only buy what I need and thats how I am raising my children.. So say what you want.. I believe in what this country stands for and served proudly to defend it.. No, i dont agree with GW on what he did. But he wasnt alone in this mess.. He alone did not cause this debacle we have in the mortgage industry. It took the senate and house to pass and authorize and require the banking industry to lower their standards to make it more Fair so that people that had no business whatsoever getting a mortgage got one. It was the congress that passed outrageous cafe standards that effectively legislated out auto industry out of business... So before fingers get pointed at one man, look closely at the 435 members of the US House of Representatives and the 100 Senators and see who proposed/voted on what issues.. You will see that both sides of the isle are equally guilty in this...

Sure that sounds good.. But your missing the main point.. Corporations dont pay taxes... EVER... all taxes placed on corporations are always funneled down to the end user... so if you tax Exxon mobile an extra 20%, then gas prices will go up 30% to make up the difference to keep their sheets flat... Its not about increasing the tax burdon on companies and individuals.. its about DECREASING the size and scope of government and eliminate their need for our money..

Return the powers back to the states where they belong.. It was NEVER the fed's job to do what they are doing now... Only to ASSIST the states in their operations...

Oh.. And BTW... It's not a JOB taking care of my children.. It's my duty above all.. and there would be NOTHING I would change given the chance...

McCain was gracious in defeat, it is a damn shame that his supporters can't find it in themselves to be the same. Can we please put the hate aside for a while and try to unite as a country?

The hatred in this thread represents the Rovian politics that the McCain campaign has led. I don't think that people realize just how dangerous this is. There have already been two assassination plots against Obama thanks to this type of mentality. To continue this will only fuel the fire. I honestly worry about Obama making it to January.

No use trying to explain incentives and costs to socialists of any sort. They don't understand that taxes are just passed down to consumers in the form of higher prices for goods and services. They also don't understand that TAXING creates a disincentive for investment. Investments are what creates jobs....

It's like talking to brick wall...

Unite under socialism? I think not, sir!

That is why people are pissed. Not because of race.

Because of his policies and connections.

Its amazing Every time I hear these same talking points... Does ANYONE remember just how badly Bush/Rove treated McCain when McCain ran against GW???? Does anyone remember how hard McCain fought against Bush on so many issues? Or does everyone have their "I hate Bush so G0^#Q*ed much that I wont listen to anything anyone else has to say... I don't hate. And because people are NOT happy with this man who will be our president, doesnt mean they are hating.

I personally (and im sure others too), love my country so much, that I have nothing but concern now. I think Obama is a horrible choice to lead this country. Guess time will tell...............and I can say with 100% sincerity: I REALLY hope I am wrong!

GEESH PEOPLE! Some of you act like little baby sore losers.

At the very least, since it is what it is, give the man a chance and quit blaming him for all that you feel will go wrong in your life. You are still just as responsible for your own life as you were yesterday, a year ago, and even last century.

I was anti Obama, but I am EXTREMELY ANTI cry baby attitudes.

I say let's suck it up and realize that life will go on after today and after our new president elect is sworn in. I promise! What you do with it is UP TO YOU ALONE!
