The quote comes from page 261 of the paperback edition of “The Audacity of Hope.” Maybe the guy I share my office with got a special edition or something, but it's right there on page 261, highlighted, underlined and circled.

come on man. you know what, im gonna be honest. i googled what was posted in quotes, and went through a 2 pages in google on that quote, and that is how i found out it was a flat out, out of context lie, and thats the only reason i posted it, because after research i found it to not be true. now, you dare sit behind your computer and tell me im wrong, and claim that it is in his book, after it was initially sent to millions of americans via a chain email, and found out to not be truthful at all. are you telling your friends and family this fuc#$%^ garbage?

My reasoning might sound very twisted for not voting for Obama - but here goes. I believe the next 4 years are going to be utter h*ll here in America between the financial mess and foreign wackos. By 2012, our country is going to be in such the pits, that whomever is president will most likely be labeled "the worst president ever" - even if it's not his/her fault (and it probably won't be). No one will remember Bush's inactions. So, do you really want to see someone who is "making history" right now then get labeled "the worst president ever" 4 years later? As much as I liked Hillary and voted for her in the primaries, I'm glad "the first woman" won't be getting elected president during this awful time either. I think McCain can better handle the title of "worst president ever." Twisted, eh?

let me correct myself. im not for either one, and i dont think obama is our greater good, because our problems are so much more deep rooted than that. i just mean it in a general sense, not specifically standing up for obama.

he had to have. im a young male, part of a generation only really known for making hip hop, fighting, and blinging out, and im smarter than the average male or female, ten to thirty years my senior, who have been through harsher times than me. its a dirty, disgusting shame, and its even worse that i cannot school them in the fallacies of their beliefs and logic without getting looked at funny.

im not political genius, or top notch howard scholar. im a man who always played the fence, and seemingly, i was given a route that has lead me to truths beyond what i would have fathomed in my younger years. i almost feel obligated, but i have a bad temper for stupidity.

i started with nothing more than an interest in qi, and it lead me down a path of amazement. i could not even fathom being so blatantly ignorant like a majority of people i know or meet, but maybe that balances the universe, and its how we learn, i dont know. its frustrating at times though, but im a cool guy for the most part, and i dont challenge people unless they challenge me, or they say something so utterly stupid, that it needs to be challenged, and they need to think otherwise.

He aint ready, the country has questions and we either can't ask them, or if we do, we have hell to pay if he stumbles for the right answer.

All that I have heard from this man is a sales job for the last 20 months. Back when the war in Iraq was down the tubes, he was going to get us out. Now the economy is in the tank, he's going to give us a hand out. It seems he's always selling something. It would be nice to compare the salesman to the student. It would be nice to have some insight into this mans psyche by reading some of his college papers. If the republican party put up a candidate with the associations O'Bama has, they'd get grilled by everybody... But not "O", he gets a pass.

The only thing we have to counter all this selling are his two books. And obviously those two writings are open to interpretation.

The only man to run that wasn't selling us anything but the truth was Ron Paul, who was possibly our best chance for change.

That's the problem with Obama supporters. They are so uninformed. The DEMOCRATS have been in charge of Congress for the past 2 years. They are the one who can be blamed for all of the crap legislation for the past 2 years, including the bailout. I feel sorry for Obama supporters. If he will not produce his birth certificate than you CAN'T vote for him. If he is legal then he produces it and that goes away. Plus, if he starts redistributes wealth like he says then the economy is done for good. He is a nightmare. I was going to vote 3rd party but now I have to vote McDumb. We are all screwed!

The rest of the world is rooting for a democrat victory. That in itself speaks volumes, simply because the world has had enough of Republicans and your lame foreign policy. American's should vote for the lesser of two evils - Obama. Why anyone would vote for John McInsane is beyond me. That guy is just so damn creepy!!!!! A vote for John Mcinsane is a vote for more wars, more death, more destruction and even more lies and probably the end of the human race. Vote for Obama, but unfortunately, that's as good as it gets. The President is an important International figure, to say the least.

Not saying it should be based on that, but it is definitely a factor.

To respond to the OP only, as I came late in the thread:

This guy has come up too fast, too far. When do you remember another politician ever rising so far so fast? He's not that good; he must have someone behind him, and it ain't the American public I'm talking about..

Mr Obama's credentials speak for themselves: Harvard Law professor, senior lecturer of law, state legislator, author, senator, etc. I do also believe he is qualified and able to use a PERSONAL COMPUTER!

His voice brings up the hairs on the back of my neck. .

I think he does the same to McSame and the rest of the republicans because you know your candidate can't stand up to him.

His philosophy, his associations, tell me that he is in the back pocket of some very bad people.

Personally, I can't think of worse associates to have in this government than the current president and vice president. As for Acorn, Mr.McCain delivered a key note speech endorsing the work they did/are doing. I wonder how much he was paid to deliver that speech? I guess the fact Obama has: 1 house, 1 car and 1 bicycle are clear evidence that he has his hands in the pockets of powerful people. I guess being a senator and having 7 houses is just normal.

My own reasons are based upon a gut feeling:

Have you explored the possibility that your "gut feeling" could be linked to something else psychological? maybe your gut feeling is deeply rooted in paranoia due to "skin deep" differences? I am basing this opinion on my OWN "gut feeling" about YOU, based upon your past posts and comments on this forum. I guess it's not accurate, but that's what you get with these types of "gut feelings" I guess.
