Call it what you will, but I have a baby and while you may feel we are being liberated I am worrying how I am going to feed him once my supply runs out. I'm not getting at you or anything, I think its great that you can find a silver lining in this mess... I just have to think on a different level because of my son.. I just talked to my grandpa who was born in 1929. I asked him if I should take the money out of the bank. He told me that that is what happened in 1929, and I shouldn't make a move unless I see a line outside. So I am going to drive by a couple times today, and if I don't see a line then I will leave it. If there is a line, I will be on it.

That's right. You're the only person with a child. Don't tell me...you're willing to kill someone to feed your baby too, right?

People have been talking about what's coming for several years now. You should be prepared. The fact that you still don't know whether to pull money out now shows you're still clueless. I bet you'd rather pull out worthless paper dollars than metal coins.

Sadly, people like me will probably wind up giving clueless wonders like you food....It's a good thing I've learned to fast.....

Oh, gee. Wake up, will ya? More college students who depend on working as waiters will find it harder to finish college because fewer investment bankers will eat at fancy restaurants coz theyar broke!!! There's a depression coming, whether we like it or not.

Kagin,

If you wait until the lines are outside, you might end up being too late

I would withdraw at least enough to know you can survive for a couple months (if you even have that much in there)

Then take those FRNs and spend them, on what you need for both you and your child to eat for that time frame - even if it's just beans and rice

and enough to keep a roof over your head paid ahead

If this gets "fixed" by the FED, then you are stocked up and safe, if it really turns into a bad situation, you have time to plan ahead.

Just my 2 cents worth

Honestly you're post does not even remotely hint at that. You sound extremely angry in spite of your previous post stating how wonderful this world economic collapse is. Times are hard and getting harder... if one cannot be polite and compassionate now... we are certainly headed for doom and gloom.

First, don't ever speak on my child. Second, you want to talk about clueless?? You think this is a good thing
Give me a break buddy.. Go get liberated or something and leave the stock news up to the big boys

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Its a very good point. I just don't want to pull out and add to the problem, but I also don't want to end up sitting on the curb kicking myself if I am to late. I know I will end up taking it out because there is a certain point where anyone will start panicking and I can't take the chance. Thanks

I have 4 big bags of rice, about 300 cans of veggies and fruits, 10 cans of formula (though he is mostly on solids now) a couple bags of potato, vitamins, fruit cups.. I mean, I have a lot, but I'm just worried that this will linger more then I had expected..

Yeah, I am mad, so what? It's a necessary evil, and the worst is yet to come, not because of me, someone who lived within his means, dared to find out what's happening and took action to prepare, but because of clueless wonders who said the feds would save them, that rich CEO's at goldman sachs would fix things up by giving more to their fellow crooks, by clueless wonders who still question whether they should have a storage of food or have some cash on hand.

You bet I'm mad. Does that mean I hate everyone and will turn a blind eye to anyone who needs help? Not at all.

The problem with that is that everyone has internet banking and ATMs to withdraw their cash nowadays. You're not likely to see a physical bank run, in fact I would start getting worried if you see the banks empty. The majority of customers only go inside a bank to deposit money.

Yeah, I see where this is going, so I'll just say you brought your child into this first.

Good-bye.

See, he's MY son, so it is MY place to worry about him.. Not yours.. I will not go any further with you on this. All this is doing is taking the thread off topic, and this is a very important matter.. Enjoy your "liberation".

I'm sorry, I didn't mean my reply to sound so short. I just read it over and didn't like how that came across.

ATS is one of three sites I'm updating this info, so I'm a little discombobulated...not to mention damn scared!

Things could get really ugly/pretty (depending on your perspective) today.
Luckily I don't have kids (just a few cats to worry about) and am extremely unhappy with todays society, so I'm in the "WATCH IT CRASH and LOVE IT" boat.

Kagin and Binarydude, you both seem to have a pretty realistic grasp of the situation. I wish you both luck.

Peace

....And to the dude telling everyone to chill, panic is a human safety feature put in place to keep us alive in unpredictable and tough situations. Acting with a calm and level head when the threat has been analyzed is the way to go but its hard to make heads or tails of the many threats now facing us.

Peace

It's a safety feature if it leads to appropriate action. My comment had helpful advice to those that would listen, but it seems a few just want to watch the crash happen and let government save them. I came onto ats, to engage in discussion as to how we could act responsibly. Instead, I get attacked. That's fine. I enjoy a good "my dingitus is bigger than yours" internet like everyone else, but for once, I wanted to contribute and engage in the physical dimension of what they can do and how to do it. I see a lot of people rushing to cash. If we're going to have inflation as bad as it seems, it would be wiser to have some coins made with high value metals, such as nickels and copper pennies.

Oh, not at all.. I didn't take any offense to what you said in the slightest
I think everyone is acting out of sorts. When have you ever seen me argue with someone on a thread like I just did? We are scared. Its normal IMO.

"U.S. futures tumble, triggering trading limits"

CNN Headline 8:30 am EST

George Ure at "Urvan Survival" called a "Lockdown" of sorts on short selling, looks like he was on the right track again.

Its definitely going to be an interesting day today. Hesitant about going to work today, I'd rather watch this than fix a cabinet. What a different mindset...

I'm calling 8100 - 8200 close (DOW), with moments during the day dipping below 8000.
I'd say thats a pretty conservative estimate..

Peace
