Fox News gets memos from the WHite House telling them what to report. Scott McClellan admitted this. So did the White House send them memos to spread this story? Was she paid off by the Bush Admin to do this then send memos to Fox News to report it?

Interesting that by trend the so call critical thinkers are the ones that actually can smell the rats.

You are right all it took was to read the story without bias and with open mind to see the inconsistencies.

Good job to all that saw the story for what it was.

To imply that Obama supporters are violent, or otherwise dangerous is sickeningly ignorent. There is absolutely no foundation for this viewpoint, and is based on the actions of the insane...

Shame on anyone who subscribes to this ludicrous fearmongering.

This is the first sign of the desperate liberals. Let's face it guys. The liberal world is ended. Also, I'm not a great fan of Bush at all, I hate him and his government, it's clearly visible that the MSM is supporting Obama, which means only one thing... not he is the good side at all. Whoever is supported and hailed by the MSM, that's the bad side. And this current action is presented well that the liberals, whose are started to support Obama are still believing in their delusions and wants their dreamworld no matter the cost. But they've late. The world is awakening and no one wants to live in a pink liberal world, just few fanatics, including the morons in the MSM.

Desperate Liberals, huh? I assume you are going to modify your world view now that this has been shown to be hoax. Nope, didn't think so. See, this is why we "desperate liberals" are taking back the country. Because you people and your win at any cost mentality have taken it to the verge of destruction.

Off topic: Why do all of my posts come out double when I only click the button once?

Well, Well, Well..., the story is out as the republican woman came forward and told the police the story is made up. Look how many of you made err's in your premeditated judgement calls. Could you not wait until the truth was out before you laid the blame. People! Wake up and see yourselves for what you are turning into. A Demonizing mob of hatred. Lord forgive them for they know not what they turn themselves into.... lol

I always had faith that some ATS'ers would have busted this, but the "critical thinkers" I was referring to were the ones that seemed to have a desire to validate this dubious tale and use this as an excuse to slam Obama supporters. Throwing away that critical thinking they normally display. Not unlike like the bloggers that should be issuing an apology right alongside Todd.

This story inspired some really nasty responses on the web.

No, I saw that there were some that questioned this early on, I wasn't talking about them.

First, this has nothing to do with either candidate. The comments on here defending of chastising Barack for this are really pointless.

Second, if you read the entire article it suggests that even the police aren't sure what the real story is because she's changing the details.

She said the mugger returned after seeing her bumper sticker, THEN she said he got mad because he saw her McCain button on her jacket. THEN she later added that her molested her, THEN she added later that she lost consciousness completely.

Sounds like she keeps making the story worse and worse.

I fully believe this woman was attacked by a mugger. What I question is her explanation for the motive behind the attack.

Third, this says absolutely nothing about Obama, McCain, or their supporters. Even if what she is saying was true and this man did attack her for this reason it reflects NOTHING on Obama supporters.

This man mugged her. He is obviously a very angry man in the first place. He is obviously also a very violent man. If he did get further enraged at seeing her bumper sticker/button (whichever it is that she can't seem to figure out) being an angry, violent man, he had an angry, violent reaction to her having a different point of view than he.

You can't say this is a reflection of Obama supporters because you would also be implying they are all (or the majority of them) muggers/robbers/criminals with violent, angry tendencies.

I just can't believe people have taken this story and spun it to say, "SEE! LOOK! Obama people are crazy, violent, irrational people!"

I see plenty of McCain supporters saying deplorable stuff about Obama frequently. But it has NOTHING to do with my opinion of John McCain. It has nothing to do with why I don't want him to be president. But it seems like people are using this incident as if to say it's a clear reason why Obama shouldn't be president.

First can I use that picture to? I love it! Second, liberal world ending? Actually people who aren't idiots agree. The Conservative party is doomed. The farther away from the 40-60's we get the farther away from the Right Wing Conservatives we get. Why? Because the fewer people left to scream "We need to go back to days where blacks and women and Jews and Mexicans and every one else knew their place!" the more the liberal, PROGRESSIVE movement grows. Just wait, probably in forty years the GOP won't exist. You will have a "conservative" group, but they'll be wanting to go back to the days of the 90's and 2000's. Then another forty years... they'll scream we need to go back to the days of the 2040's...

Yes.

Especially the ones that claim in a desperate attempt to defend their candidate and/or his supporters that this woman did this to herself.

She did, or had someone else do it for her.

You and everyone else that tried to validate this political garbage should at least have the sense to realize that even if this story had been true, this is in no way a reflection of Obama or his supporters.

Reminds me of the 2004 article on conservative Phil Parlock, who told the story of Kerry supporters yanking the Bush-Cheney sign from his three-year-old daughters tiny hands and tearing it up in front of them in a rage.

Sadly he told the same story two other times in an article 1996, but it was an unruly mob of Clinton supporters that beat on them, and then in 2000 substituting his daughter for his young son at the time.

Loser and a liar.

Oddly enough stories like this tend to stick in simple minds even if proven false.
I guess that is the point though.
