Only partly sarcastic, sorry.

I guess it's down to one's moral beliefs then. Of course the individual has some responsibility for one's own actions, but I think that when you deliberately put out something that serves nothing more than to take advantage of gullable people, it's not ok. Regardless if it's money, faith or something completely different.
I believe we as a rule should try to do the exact opposite; if someone is being cheated then inform or "teach" them so they can protect themselves in the time forward. Sometimes that could result in a person being taken off the streets.

But like Alpha says, I guess it would require her actually admitting to screwing around with people on purpose.

If october 14th turns out to be amazing, I'll eat the worlds biggest hat... without salt!

Can someone please explain to me the logic in an "evil alien race of baddies from hell" with intent to destroy the human race (or turn us into unicorns or something, i don't know). Would go to the trouble of warning us of their arrival through a channel?

A race with the capability to get here in the first place would much more likely simply swat us like flies from a distance and that would be the end of it.

I'm not expecting this to happen on tuesday by the way, but if it did, i certainly wouldn't be afraid of them. At the end of the day we're simply talking about other people, that grew up somewhere else and had all the same questions about the world that we do now.

i dont desagree with you if some one is purposly trying to manipulate the masses then we who see through the rubbish should be teaching others to protect themselves.

but i agree with alpha there is nothing wrong with writing books on what you beleive in even if it is crap.

Maybe this lady really believes what she is saying. There are a lot of people in the world who hear voices and need mental help. She might not be trying to take advantage of anyone. Maybe in her mind she really is talking to aliens and they are telling her they will be here on the 14th. I think when they do not show up she should really seek some metal help. Maybe we can all get together and pay for her to see someone. I believe in ET and UFO's, but if any of you think this is a possiblity you are dreaming. Never going to happen. Sorry to rain on all your parades. You know it is crazy when 90% of the people on this site think it wont happen. People on this site tend to believe everything they are told, no matter how insane it isnut even this is over the top for most of them.

Aye, that I can agree to. But at the very least then she needs to be helped in some way. But you know, just like I believe that deep down in the heart of most priests and the likes, they know what they preach is unproven and quite posibly not true, then I think she knows too that her profecies are just attention seeking and even profitable.
But let's see what happens.

Then we're talking faith, eh? :S I'm not big on that, never has been never will be. In other than myself and the people I surround myself with. I mean, I don't have faith in any of the gospels of this world. To me they are all money making machines and therefore again more or less stealing from gullable people.
It just always seem to turn out bad when something turn into a religion or blind faith. I'm sure there are cases where some kids got hurt because they took Harry Potter too seriously too, but at least J.K. has sold her books as entertainment and not gospel.

If Blossom had gone about this as entertainment, ie; through a series of novels on this very subject and people started taking it seriously it wouldn't think nothing of it. But this doesn't seem like entertainment to me.'

EDIT: I think New Zealand was the latest country mentioned... don't remember why though.

This wreaks of a last minute attempt to squeeze them last dollars out of people over the weekend before this fantasy comes crashing down on the 14th.

Wouldn't be any worse than what our politicians, governments, and religions are doing to the masses.

BTW if this fails what does Blossom stand to gain?

UFO Digest

Naysayers will immediately dismiss Goodchild’s statements as ludicrous. However, if Goodchild was consciously perpetrating a hoax and simply wanted to make money with all this (after all, she is an author and actress), she is definitely going about it in the wrong manner. Any skilled marketing representative would tell her to do two things:

1) Be less specific of the date on which the craft is supposed to appear (actually, they would most likely tell her to put it off by at least nine months)

2) Flood the market with products and services (books, videos, seminar appearances and lectures, etc) so the money can start pouring in. She's done neither.

Actually, her prediction was made on August 22nd of this year, with “showtime” being less than three months away - far too soon a timeline for the reaping of financial rewards or fame.

Speaking of which...

There is also the inevitable credibility factor to consider. If Goodchild proves to be wrong with this information, it is obvious that whoever enjoyed reading her materials before will begin to shun and avoid her in the future (much like our beloved and elusive Bigfoot hunters from Georgia). So on a personal level, quite a bit is at stake for Goodchild. And she would know this.

To stir the waters even further, consider that the Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Stephen Harper in the last week has called for surprise federal elections to occur on (you guessed it) … October 14th, 2008. According to Mr. Alfred Webre from Exopolitics.com, world officials are taking the announcement of the arrival of an extraterrestrial spacecraft in our skies seriously, and plans may already be underway to pull public focus away from such a seminal event and place it on more domestic and political issues instead. In this case, the controversy generated by surprise federal elections would tie up Canadian airwaves quite nicely. If extraterrestrials wish for their presence to be known to the world on that day, they would need to account for this type of potential interference, along with one million other variables.

Of course, being highly evolved Beings, they (hopefully) would.

If this was really going down the powers that be would know, renowned physics the world over would be relaying what they see.
Why is the only word coming from a charlatan? I wonder.

Dont get me wrong I hope it does happen, its just come on we`ve heard it all before why is this different? Please explain.

Indeed, and I guess that shows that she at least didn't plan this down to a tee. But the question is valid. What did Billy Meyer stand to gain? Or other hoaxers?
We could only get an answer if one of them came forward and explained exactly what went through their mind when they decided to do these things.

About flooding the market while writing these things. Why not wait till afterwards. Keep people in suspense and then go "voila! If you thought that was good, you should take a look at her new book...."
I know that's far too obvious an assumption to make, but I just thought that point no. 2 was weak.

On point 1... well, you know how much attention specific dates has gotten on this site and other sites. The more elaborate the thing is the more specific she can allow herself to be because there's bound to be a huge number of people coming to her site, reading her posts. Heck, even me a sceptic believer is spending time following this even though I'm proclaiming my distrust towards the whole thing hehe.
Who needs marketing? Things like this take off and speed towards the sky before plummeting down even faster and she'll get her 15 min regardless.

I just find it extremely ironic this day just happens to be the same day the stock market in the US reopens after the week of historical losses and blatant manipulation.

What are the odds of Blossom picking that day? or the world market and banking system about ready to collapse and the powers that be struggling to stop the panic.

All of this is very surreal IMO

The transcript I saw said "greetings to ALL the people of earth( not justAmericansor brits) "they will arrive in the south of "YOUR hemispere" the U.S. is in the "northern hemispere", Austrailia the southern hemisphere.then they tease with "Alabama "indeed in the southern part of the northern hemispere. not at all associated with the southern hemispere.

I submit this is glaring proof this was conjured up by an Amero- centric human being with sloppy use of the language..After all if they were to arrive wouldn't they say: we will descend and park over a highly poplulated continent in the northern (or "southern")" hemisphere" and no t we'll be in "your" town by dark ( ie the "southen part of "your hemisphere"reference changes depending on "your" citizenship!)Go back and take a look at some of these messages.

I for one would also love to see this in my lifetime, but " Oct14 arrival"is like buying a state lottery ticket., fun for a bit then you toss it over your shoulder along with your wastedtimeand money... feel free to move this to anyof the 50(?)threads on this topic if you let it post at all...
Skeptically yours

can i ask. in the days that scripture was written do you think it was intended to make money?

i mean do you think that moses made money from the 10 commandments?

dont look at modern church and its lies.

bc in order to be faithful you must see through all that rubbish.

What if it is a projection? You know all we need is CNN to show a still picture of it and say we are not alone for the whole world to practically believe, this might even buy bush some spare time... lol!

The timing wouldn't be bad although we're not quite killing each other with nukes.

These (combined) posts were on the original thread on that's (now) barely hanging on the bottom of the home page. I believe it's a relevantly unique enough perspective (now updated) for a newer thread:

I'm convinced that historically this issue will be viewed as NOT one of belief versus doubt, but DESIRE and courage versus fear and ignorance. Does anyone doubt that the mere appearance of an undeniably extraterrestrial craft, with NOTHING else but merely showing up, will or would be automatically viewed as a hostile act by the (apparent) majority of human beings? How many of us have a true grasp of the indescribably staggering extent to which this paradigm is utterly ruled by primitive, paranoid, fear-and-hatred-based (pathological) people?

I absolutely hope I'm wrong and hope to eat my words. (end first post)

I got into a bit of an argument with someone on unexplained-mysteries.com on this subject. (My name there is Spherical Miracle). So I thought I'd post my first reply in the exchange:

I consider myself a skeptic in the original, true sense; not the currently popular connotation of being synonymous with reactionary doubt (which is pseudoskepticism). I'm not convinced of the authenticity of the Goodchild channellings or certainly that a spacecraft will appear in the next couple or few days. However, this issue is only a part of the greater issue of rule by secrecy in general, and most sadly, the (apparent) majority of the general population's rather substantial comfort level with such rule. (end second)

(New): Assuming (hopefully wrongly) nothing spectacular will happen any time soon, I wouldn't worry about any serious, real researchers, experiencers and messengers taking any major, insurmountable hits from the frightened, insecure rank and file.
