Kosmicjack - nothing personal, I understand your point. It's more a general reaction to all the alarmist posts I've seen lately. This is a tough point to get across methinks… I’m not saying it’s “wrong” or “far fetched” . I am not taking any of this at face value. I don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know. Ron Paul doesn’t know. Frankly, I doubt anyone really does. I’ll entertain any and every conspiracy out there, but it’s all just that – theory.
Sure there are lots of facts to throw around, but there’s also a lot of pure speculation and potential dis-info as well. I had hoped that my follow up posts got that point across – the possibilities are all over the place. I’m just expressing the sentiment that a thread like this should be handled responsibly. Especially in a situation like this where people are already scared and for real reasons. The “man” wants you to be scared. The more the general public runs around like chickens with their heads cut off the easier it is to avoid scrutiny. Why make their job any easier ?

As you say, you don't know what is going to happen and it seems neither do any public facing government representatives. Their comments are continuously shown as contradicting what is actually going on eg: the economy is fine, oh sorry no it's not, but ah now it is fine, actually really it isn't, it was sound yesterday but not today and now its sound again etc etc. This creates fear as noone who we would normally turn to for authorative information has any that makes sense.

I agree with you that the 'man' wants us to be scared, and that there are real reasons for concern BUT I disagree with your implication that a general solution to this fear is to simply wait for the next official announcement of what is supposedly happening and regard everything else inbetween then and now as just theory.

Some of the things happening right now are very alarming, and therefore 'alarmist' threads may be very appropriate.

I would argue that knowledge and then preperation is a simple step towards conquering fear and threads such as this are vital in that process where they help create solution orientated outcomes.

I'm curious to see if you could find any videos or news articles that you're talking about, I think it sounds interesting.

I don't have much to say about this topic because I believe in the hear no evil see no evil speak no evil. I think we have feared the end since the beginning, and that it's natural that it always feel like it's near. But if Martial Law does come, and if all this is right and it all ends, I think we'll go peacefully even in slavery or whatever dystopia future that awaits. If everybody could learn to love just as they have learned to fear, then we could all just live in peace before any of this nonsense happens.

I tell ya. I'm sitting here listening to reporters on CNN repeatedly using the same words:

"Don't panic" - at least 8 times in the past hour

"Don't run to the bank and withdraw all of your money" - at least 6 times in the past hour

Now we're on to the gas situation....and stations running out gas....and people unable to get it.

And someone wants to say *I" am paranoid? lol

I realize the tone of my posts have shifted from being a little more skeptical and withdrawn to - outright initial thoughts on the situation. But it's bad. Even my mom who is blind, can see that.

If the american gov't goes bankrupt I don't think a new president will be able to procure any loans from any gov't or bank in the world . America might well be stuck in the greatest depression of modern history.

This thread shows exactly what everybody should be reading.

It's not about Aliens, or conspiracies really right now, its about survival.

This is the beginning... heck it could be the middle. No telling what the 'end' looks like to the 'third' party rulers.

Thank you!!! I comlpetely agree! We are all at fault for the failures of our government we have grown so lazy we have forgotten the lessons of our fore-fathers! It IS patriotic to question your government! Why are we letting them get away with this?

The question has been asked before "if Obama does't win will there be riots?" My answer is hopefully yes espically if there are voting irregularities! This newest round of handing out my (all of our) money SO brazenly to fininical institutions is appaling! When is it going to end?
All I hear is it MAY help! We do not know the specifics they won't even release them and the Bush adminstration is saying how quickly we need to act, basically the same scare tactics they have always used!

Lets not think lets just give BILLIONS of dollars to the richest people in America!!!!! You will be better off I PROMISE YOU!!!

GIVE ME A %#$@ break!

Attention world giants, perhaps the upcoming election is to verify the onslot of many people. Perhaps not, but the question is, what happened to all the money that was owed to the corporate industries that are now on their knees, hoping for the Koreans to delay the retribution that is set and is about to be followed through upon? Why, does the governement of the United States of America, have 700 Billion dollars readily at hand to dispense to the 'big boys,' when the only reason there is any concern for them, is because of the investors that have shares in the stocks of these, 'mega tycoons' industries in the economy? The US. is deliberatley taking away liberties of it's own people, by placing the bill for these 'monopoly players,' when instead the bill should go to the oil industries, they seem to be booming. But, wait, of course no one wants to with hold money from the Korean investment stock share owners, so yeah, the US. better pay up or, 'war?' "Milk, what milk?"

Primamateria - thanks for the well thought out response. Good points all.

One thing I’ve wanted to address is a comment made by Sos37 blaming the current scenario on greed , the banking industries and overextended borrowers. It’s not that simple as I understand it. I hear too many people claiming it’s about the banks and investors being greedy. The other side is that federal regulators applied pressure on the banking system to accept these risky loans – correct ? Not only were the regulations superceded but the government applied pressure to the system to make full use of it.

My own thinking is this was done to continue propping up the debt based economy in place (can’t create more wealth without debt in a DEBT BASED economy). Tack this onto the fact that average wages have been stagnant for ten years now and this has been hidden under the blankets of easy credit (mostly based on housing costs inflating ?) and cheap goods.
So in reality, we’ve been in a ten year downslide (lack of real growth in wages and manufacturing) obscured by manufactured wealth (debt) through easy credit and low costs of living. Suddenly this “bubble” as I understand it has burst.
The government is just as guilty as the financial markets. Is it a conspiracy ? Could very well be. Could also be the US govt. trying to save it’s own butt and create the reality of a service based economy going on ten years – and believing that the huge shell game necessary to make it happen could go on indefinitely and was the foundation of a “solid” economy.

These dates are important, and between, and one might pay attention from now until then, that is, if one so wished.

You see, we have been duped since the beginning. English royalty will be your leaders in the near future.

That's not George Washington. This picture was taken in widsor Castle's Waterloo Room, which pays hommage to those who took part in the defeat of Napoleon in 1815. Those in the pictures are The Duke of Wellington, Prince Metternich, Pope Pius VII, the Prime Minister Lord Liverpool, Field Marshal von Blucher, Foreign Secretary Lord Castlereagh and George IV.

George Washinton died 16 years before the Battle of Waterloo.

Here is a source explaining the British Intelligence version of our current national situation. Apparently much is blamed on the DVD based in Dachau Germany, running Frankfurt CiA operations and headed by George Schiff Jr, a former Nazi 5th columnist infiltrated prior to WWII who now goes by the name George H.W. Bush.

Enjoy:

There is no gas here, and apparently the shortage is spreading into Kentucky and North Carolina.

The post from Whitehouse.gov is a broken link. I googled the text and found that it came from a speech on September 14th, 2001. This means that I don't know whether or not we are in a state of emergency. If we are now, we may have been for awhile, and there were still elections held. Just a thought.

All of this talk really puts me in the mood to watch V for Vendetta.

Lets just hope if all of this comes to pass, the govt will have some human experiment lab/jail, that gets blown up, and then spawns a character like V to save all our arses.

Beautiful.
It exposes the baseless hysteria being portrayed in the OP and this entire thread. Factless and baseless.

The "financial disaster" discussed in the OP is almost 100% caused by Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Barack Obama. All Democratic members of the "Do Nothing Congress". They made loads of money off of this scam on the American public.

Want proof? Where are all the calls for Congressional investigations? Nada. The Democrats do not want to investigate this sub-prime meltdown and the corruption in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, because it would shine the spotlight squarely on them.

That's pretty ingenious work in two years. Honestly jos you are very sure of your position. Everyone has their own opinions I guess. Do yours ever change? maybe soon.
