As far as i see it, evolution exists for many speices that are on our planet..BUT and this is the big one..Humanity seems to be a different story..I really believe our DNA has been altered at different stages in our evolution by ET's..Science will never find the so called missing link, because it doesn't exist.

People laugh at creationists from fear. In the natural, the display of teeth is meant to threaten. The growl was to convey the message of agression. In humans the role is reversed. Smiling is a vain threat that is not really intended as such but is defensive. Laughter is actually panting in a human and is a sign of defense and harmless fear. So when a person "laughs" at a "creationist" it is because they feel threatened inside themselves at the possiblity that they are wrong in what they themselves believe. Laughter is a sign of defensive weakness and is to be taken as that. For instance, let's take the old joke;

" I met and man and told him that I hadn't had a bite all day... so he bit me..!"

What makes this funny is that there is a truth hidden in the joke that, yes, being bitten by someone can hurt you, but the threat, though it may seem real is not intended to hurt. In the same way, those who laugh at creationists or Christians in general, are doing so because of the hidden truth they perceive is in the message, and because they know the message is really a harmless one though they still feel it is threatening.

Whether a person belives in God or in evolution is not going to change daily life, yet a perceived threat is still a threat no less. So, next time you find yourself laughing at creationists or Christians, ask yourself, is it because I feel there is some truth in the message..?

Here is a good link for laughs.. I watch it often.. enjoy..!

Oh right, so when we laugh at stupid people it's because we fear their superior intellect as a challenge.
Oh yes, I'm sure.

Perhaps you should watch the videos. We laugh at creationists for the same reason we laugh at kids, Kids say the darndest things.

Not really, we laugh at creationist like we laugh at monkeys riding bicycles, or man gets hit in the groin with a bat, or mormons.
Just good old american laughter, no fear at all.

More at you than with you.

EH??

The reason is because creationists that believe the world is 6000 years old have been proven wrong.

It is a FACT that the earth is older... an absolute fact.

As SD said, more an embarrassing laugh at someone making a fool of themselves.

No, you're not understanding what I said. It has nothing to do with who is right or wrong but more about what you really believe to be true.

Now you get my point. If there were not some truth in what you just said you would not laugh at it. Monkeys can ride bicycles and a man can be hit in the groin with a bat. And Mormans are generally feared by people from prejudice. All true.

Laughter is never with someone and is always personal in nature. Laughter is always a defensive response.

So far as I can tell god forgot to create a sense of humor for creationists.
Deadlines are a bitch, he must have left it for the last day and plum forgot.
What you gonna do?

Btw, we also make fun of scientist, you don't hear it as often cause they don't give us as much material.

We all know that a person can beleive something with all their heart ...but it doesn´t necessarily make it a fact does it? (unless of course your statement was intended as ironic then please disregard).

Creationists have a sense of humor, as in this video...
www.youtube.com...

We know that atheists are no threat, and that's the laugh in the video. Now if the man in the video had said they were going to petition the Supreme Court to have it their way, there would be no laughter because it would be a true open threat. There would be a dabate instead.

I has nothing to do with belief because we are dealing with science! Creationists like to interchange freedom of speech and the scientific method because it gives them some illusion of seriousness. Not all ideas are equal, especially when one is demonstrably provable and the other has been proved as bunk.

The courts ruled on this.

We know that atheists are no threat.
Whoa whoa, slow down a minute! Since when did anti-creation have anything to do with atheism, or theism at all. Most christians are evolutionists and most evolutionists are christians. This has never been about theism. This is about merit!

Creationism has no merit. Plain and simple.

In the example dialogue below, C = Creationist, E = Evolutionist

C: You don't have an explanation for how the universe came into being.
E: You do?
C: Yes, God created it.
E: Okay, then how did God come into being?
C: God has always existed.
E: Well, then why couldn't the universe have always existed?
C: Because it couldn't. That doesn't make sense. It had to start somewhere.
E: Well, then why didn't God have to start somewhere?
C: Because he's God!
E: :laughs: I give up!

look it's really simple:

The theory of intelligent design states that an omnipotent being created the universe and everything in it for reasons we cannot, and are not meant to, comprehend. There is no quantifiable evidence to support this theory, there are no hypotheses that can be proven or disproven using this theory, and it offers no predictive ability for any past, present or future events. OK, now let's move on to the theory of evolution.

That's it, end of story, but I'm sure it will not be.

I always get a kick out of these kinds of threads.

First off, the church, or creationists have instilled on us all a duality that is Evolution vs. Creationism(or ID, they are the same thing). Darwin's book "The Origin of Species" was ment to explain how we ended up with all these different life forms.

*****Evolution is NOT the study of how life came to be, or how the universe came to be, or if there is a God.*******

There really shouldn't be a debate here, but creationists love to knock down Evolution and then say "....therefore an intelligent designer must have made this." Evolution is a theory supported by SO much evidence that I'd think one to be a fool if they didn't believe it. However Evolution has some small holes, like everything. The theory of Evolution is still evolving. LOL. So just because there are holes we shall assume God did it. This is what is NOT scientific about creationism or ID. We cannot draw a conclusion and then go find the pieces to fit that conclusion. That is NOT science. This is why ID is not in school. This is ignorant dogmatic thinking, and if you really believe "God did it" then you deserve to be laughed. While it may be the case that God did infact do it, we have NO evidence to support this.

GOD HELP US ALL IF PALIN MAKES IT INTO OFFICE.

Why? The OP asks "Why do people laugh at creationists?" It says nothing about the theory of evolution.

And actually, it's not so much that people "laugh" at creationists, it's that they "make fun of them," which phrase actually has little to do with fun and means that they mock, belittle, insult, etc.

One of the reasons we may laugh is when a connection is made in the brain that wasn't there before. When the punchline is revealed and you "get" the joke, a connection is made between elements of the setup that you didn't see before, and that is why you laugh. (Referring to genuine spontaneous laughter, not "ha ha that's stupid" )

How about this one:

C How did the universe begin?
E From the Big Bang
C Where did the Big Bang come from?
E I don't know
C What caused it to bang?
E I don't know
C Well.. what was before the Big Bang?
E I don't know?
C You don't know much, do you?
E No.. not really
C Well, can you at least tell me where life began?
E Sure.. from a single cell.
C Where did that cell come from?
E From chemicals
C Then chemicals are alive?
E No.. of course not
C But you can get life from something that has no life?
E That's it..
C That first cell.. how did it know to eat?
E It just did.
C How did it know to desire to live?
E It just did.
C How did it know to reproduce?
E It just did...
C So let me get this straight... The universe just came about one day by itself out of nowwhere and from nothing at all, organized itself into what we see today, and life just happened one day all by itself from non-living chemicals and instantly knew how to eat, survive, reproduce and all that..?
E Yes.. that's it... (pause) Let me ask you something..
C What is it...?"
E Where do you think the universe came from?
C God, who is not part of the universe but the creator of it, and who is Spirit.
E Where did life come from?
C God. He designed all of the creatures of the Earth. He made them and then put life into them.
E Oh... I guess it's more valid to believe in something than in nothing at all...
C Exactly...

BWAHAHAH!!
hilarious!

It wouldn't go down like that.

C How did the universe begin?
E What does that have to evolution?
C Isn't it part of evolution?
E No, you have no idea what you're talking about.
C How did the planets form?
E Getting warmer.
C Where did life come from originly?
E You're so close you're on fire.
C The origin of life has nothing to do with evolution.
E Nope, it has nothing to do with evolution. It's Abiogenesis. I bet you want to argue about it.
C Damn Skippy. Where did the first cell come from?
E Chemistry, my dear watson!
C How?
E Well, just watch this video and you'll learn something!

E Abiogenesis is coming along nicely as a young science, the first (barely) living cells were so simple that you'd be forgiven for thinking that they were nothing at all.
C But how does that become us?
E Now finally you're talking evolution.
C Surely all mutations are bad.
E Nope not at all, most mutations are neutral, at least they are these days. Back on primordial earth, things would have been different. When eventually a mutation came up that made the cell grow and divide faster, it became more common. That's the basic premise.
C Hmm.
E What?
C Well where did the universe come from?
E Not one for attention spans are we? Well truth is we don't know, but we do know it didn't start with the big bang.
C It didn't.
E No, the singularity had a past and we can see into it, but I'm not an astrophysicist, so go ask the guys at CERN.
C So it didn't start with nothing that exploded.
E No you little scamp, that's a creationist misconception.
C I guess it is.
E Would you do yourself a favour and stop grouping all science in one thing, cos when you try to over simplify things, all your doing is making strawman arguments, and people who actually know a thing or two get angry because of your stupidity.
C Will do.

E..........stupid kid

C: How did the universe begin?
E: I don't know, I wasn't there. Scientists have some theories, but we can't prove any of them because it happened a VERY long time ago, and we don't have time travel to go and see.
C: Well, can you at least tell me where life began?
E: Nope, we don't know that for sure either. Again, there are some theories and some of them look pretty good, but as far as I know we aren't sure.
C: You don't really know anything, do you?
E: No, I guess not. Why should we have all the answers? We don't understand everything about the world yet, we don't even have all the answers for how our own bodies work. Why do you think we should have all the answers for how the universe "began" and how life began?" Do you have all the answers?
C: I know that God, who is not part of the universe but the creator of it, and who is Spirit, created the universe and designed all of the creatures of the Earth. He made them and then put life into them.
E: How do you know this? Do you have any proof? Where did God come from? What is "spirit?" Why did God create the universe and all these animals and us? If God created everything, where did fossils come from? Why do animals have to kill and eat other animals and fight? Why are there diseases? Why is weather so inconsistent? Why are there tornadoes and hurricanes and floods? I guess this loving God of yours didn't really like us much, or he'd have made the Earth a nicer place for us.

The Universe exists. It's right here, all around us. You and I are part of it. How can you call that "nothing?" Life exists. It too, is all around us, growing and changing and living and dying. You and I are alive. How can you call that "nothing?"

I believe in the Universe. I believe in Life. They aren't nothing.

Have you seen Ben Steins Expelled movie? My God he is a stupid man. He somehow thinks the theory of evolution should cover ... get this, gravity.

People trying to argue evolution always try to bring in the other theories. These people aren't attacking evolution, they're attacking all of science for petes sake.
