Whats with all the Robbie Williams articles today UFO 10/09

I have no chip on my shoulder and perhaps it is because I am a newer member, but I didn't realize it was a celeb site. Just a turn off.

No his head isn't on top of the page but you have the pic and then another link below that. And you can't tell me you are upset over all the attention the tabs have been giving the site.

Off to the politics where believe it or not their self importance at least makes a difference in the world.

PS and again...I want to thank the admins for NOT answering or acknowledging (sp) my email other than the auto response.

edit: wisdom of the crowd? Depends on what crowd you hang with I suppose. And of course you see things different on top of the pile.

other than today's daily sun (I think) article in the UK, we have not been mentioned once by the media outlets that have reported Rob's story and, in the one article we are mentioned, they refer to us as nerds and imply that we're all nuts. yeah, loving all the press we've received from the investigation.

I know, I know... it's a harrowing thought.
I can only sympathise with Robbie's plight. I too always followed
the flying saucer phenomena from afar, my folks and friends
always thought the idea was a little whacky.

It wasn't until I joined ATS that I felt I was normal with the
subject. So now, as I dowse the invading scum with urine, as I
travel in time with my faithful brethren, chasing Reptilians
out of the desert, I can sleep safe knowing that I kept the faith...

The man ,Robbie Williams, just in case youve forgotten who this is about reading this far is interested in the very subject this site is founded on. His being in the public eye will only bring more people into contact with the reality of what is going on above our heads and may make people look up and ask questions. Isn't that what will ultimately bring the truth out? You ,Joe soap sitting half naked with your laptop on you knees, who's going to take notice of you?? I'll tell you who, maybe you granny who's wondering what the hell you are talking about. Celebs broadcasting their views can be benificial but I have to say none have ever swayed me to believe one way or another or vote one way or another. In fact a lot of celebs get on their soap boxes and I tune out.

Now alien/ufo belief doesn't belong in the soap box category, imo, and surely Robbie Williams can bring some light to the subject. My whole contention has been who is benefiting, ATS with a million google hits or RW now he is in the press again.

I have had a nice U2U conversation with one of the mods here and I think we have come to an understanding. And as that is ATS's aim to understand, I am satisfied.

i actually agree with most of your post. i also switch off when i see a celeb endorse something though i think we are in the minority.

ATS & R.W will benefit from this current attention undoutably. if the celeb tag gets to you, try and read past the involvement (and the banners) and you'll see the current investigation on the ranch will bring amazing info.

Dear oh dear, 5 days on and still they are mentioning RW, this time on my local radio as I travelled to work. Robbie williams dumps singing to watch the skies. Who writes these news scripts. Basically they are implying in their wording that RW is going a little doolally. Not a mention of ATS though.

Just to add about the whole celeb thing for what its worth. I think we should stop using that word as RW is a human being no matter how much money he has he still needs and breathes the same air we do therefore, he should be treated the same as anyone else on this site. I mean we should only flag and star his posts if the contents are worthy of it and not just because of his status in the media.

Rob certainly isn't benefitting from this "news" coverage. He is on extended holiday (for nearly 2 years now) and is not expected to release any music until at least 2009. Press about him being a nutter recluse alien hunter will do nothing to help record sales for music that doesn't exist yet anyway.

And BTW, he has been talking about aliens and UFOs for years. This is not a "2008 fashionable interest" as I think someone mentioned earlier.

The press often use a newsfeed and create "original" articles around them. I see it all the time as I get Yahoo bulletins on certain subjects, and I'll see articles from around the world using the exact same phrases. It usually follows that the older the article or cheaper the paper, the further the article gets from the original kernel of truth (if there even was one to start). By the time this article hits the Indian papers it will be nearly completely fabricated and make Rob sound like he's wandering the streets pushing a trolley, wearing paper bags for shoes and muttering about being abducted and probed.

Is it any wonder he doesn't read his own press anymore?

As for him being detrimental to the "cause"... I'm here because of a link on his website. I'd never heard of ATS before, but I find this site very interesting and plan on reading up on other subjects here (not really into UFOs--sorry). How is that a bad thing? I certainly don't believe that my interest is invalid because I discovered this site through a celebrity.

So thank you Rob for guiding me here and thank you ATS for expanding my horizons.

I never said it was invalid to follow a celeb's interest. Go for it. I just tend to tune out when a celeb starts talking on and on about something. As for it being fashionable, I do know enough about the man to know he has been following UFO's for years....Tour called Close Encounters and a set that's supposed to look like a UFO.

As for making RW look bad, I am not so sure about that, seems he has been in the tabs forever.. not much left to write about him it would seem. (google is my friend)

I would imagine with more time off he can explore his interests to a greater degree, that's great. My only "concern" was I found it distracting with RW being bannered all over the site, and as I have said, I am comfortable now after my chat with an admin.
