It's interesting that your referred to the city as a gate of hell....the "sunhole" on the Untersberg was referred to by White Eagle as a
"Teufelsloch" - literally "Devil's Hole".
Some people are of the opinion that the "underworld", if it existed, i.e people living inside the earth, in caves, mountains, etc, is where we get
the general concept of hell from (of course, heaven is always above, and hell below ground), and that there were two factions of the same species/race
or whatever that split, effectively into good and evil.
I don't personally believe it - the interest in this area for me is more the magnetic/gravitational anomoly and what possible effects that could have
on people, time, etc, under the right circumstances.
One thing i do know is that the moon exerts a certain amount of gravitational/magnetic pull on the earth - for example it is the influence of the moon
that causes seas to rise and fall, giving us high and low tides - and at certain times of the year, these tides are either extremely high or extremely
low.
Perhaps this moon influence is also a factor in any activity that may occur in this area - some of the articles linked to previously in the thread (in
German), have made reference to opposing magnetic fields coinciding at certain points, giving rise to anomolies. Maybe the pull of the moon, when it
meets the gravitational/magnetic anomoly that we know exists at the Untersberg, causes things to occur.
We know that some people are affected by the moon's influence too - maybe that's why Salzburgers are so depressed!
