The penultimate image (Image_0156). The area blown up in the lowest red box - a red, white and blue object. On second viewing i would even say it is just as likely to be a paragliding canopy. Could some of the others be hang gliders?

It would fit with there being so manby in one place, and that sort of sports (paragliding and hang gliding), are likely to be taking place in such a location - high up in the mountains, with thermals, etc.

Hi there. I am very interested in what you have to say about this mystery mountain. I want to know what the local residents think. Do people talk about the mountain? Are there legends about it? When you were going to school, did the children talk about strange things related to the mountain. Surely there must be pictures around town in shops and such that the local people have taken in the cave.

of course there are legends, there are everywhere legends about the mountains, but i dont remember one which is really interesting.

we never spoke about the mountain in an mystical way. also i never heard this in school or in shops.

Untersberg? there is nothing important about
only a moutain like the others in the alps.

hitler and the untersberg? wow..hitler was born in Braunau.. 30 miles away..also you know the story..

some ufos or other mystical stuff ? no sorry

but you are also right.
Austria is the middle of europe. A little country. Many things happen everywhere, also in Austria. And Austrian People? We are all over the world. Like the others...

lol...
1. i was borned there...but then i lived 10 years 15 miles away..
2. then i lived 17 years there...
3. I left this city last year, also i must go back sometimes to the grannies of my son (the only nice people i met there)
4. No thanks! I dont like this city and i will never live there again.

you must know, i am very interested in "mystical" things, but this city is like a gate. But a gate from hell (no joke).
I know many people there, all want to go away from this city, but never will do. They stay until they will die.
Its a crazy Aura there.. no happiness, no fun. The people run there without a smile in their faces. All are bored, without knowing why.

And in summer? there are only tourists. You must be blessed if you hear german in the city..only italy, english or japan

its a tourist city..not more.. and the people who live their.. are poor.

Hi! Exactly which city do you mean? Salzburg? Bechtesgaden? Or some other? (Wherever it is, it sounds very depressing!!!)

I have to say that I absolutely love this thread and have spent 2 whole days reading all of it and exploring the links.

Sorry but I haven't got anything specific to add but as I live in a valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains, in southern Spain I want to put on my hiking boots and go exploring!

A very inspirational thread that will hopefully have loads more relevant information added to it. Who knows, maybe I'll find something, from the locals, about the mountains surrounding me.

I lived directly in Salzburg.
but Berchtesgarden is only a Step away (about 15miles).
One side of Untersberg is Austria and the other is Germany.
There, were the hole is (the sun-hole) is Berchtesgarden. Exactly "Bayrischgmain" (Germany).

:-) and yes.. really depressing city.. after the "Festspiele" the city fall asleep

Thats a very honest description. It almost sound as boring as Twin Peaks (ironi)

Guess its quite normal that many places seems different from the outsiders look, than it some times does from the point of view of the "insiders" with a everyday life to consider. Hope you're all well where you live now

Still its possitive with so many tourist as they keep the wheels turning
(one of the blessings in life you cant live with or without

yep.. where i live now its not depressing.. just boring

but: the mostly time is the same thing: those who live there, dont know anything directly.. and those who only heard about such places.. know sometimes more as the owners

and.. yes.. the tourists. They make this city to a "leaving-place". If you understand what i mean. Nobody stays.. they come.. make holiday for 3 days.. and fly away again.

It's interesting that your referred to the city as a gate of hell....the "sunhole" on the Untersberg was referred to by White Eagle as a "Teufelsloch" - literally "Devil's Hole".

Some people are of the opinion that the "underworld", if it existed, i.e people living inside the earth, in caves, mountains, etc, is where we get the general concept of hell from (of course, heaven is always above, and hell below ground), and that there were two factions of the same species/race or whatever that split, effectively into good and evil.

I don't personally believe it - the interest in this area for me is more the magnetic/gravitational anomoly and what possible effects that could have on people, time, etc, under the right circumstances.

One thing i do know is that the moon exerts a certain amount of gravitational/magnetic pull on the earth - for example it is the influence of the moon that causes seas to rise and fall, giving us high and low tides - and at certain times of the year, these tides are either extremely high or extremely low.

Perhaps this moon influence is also a factor in any activity that may occur in this area - some of the articles linked to previously in the thread (in German), have made reference to opposing magnetic fields coinciding at certain points, giving rise to anomolies. Maybe the pull of the moon, when it meets the gravitational/magnetic anomoly that we know exists at the Untersberg, causes things to occur.

We know that some people are affected by the moon's influence too - maybe that's why Salzburgers are so depressed!

yes.. devils-hole..

but: you say something about the moon. Hm.. i must check it out, if i find some links for you, but its interesting.
Salzburg (or the Area there) were the last point of an ocean.. you know, long time ago, there were an ocean in the middle of europe. And in Salzburg shall be the End of this ocean.. Means.. there the water left at last... thats my opinion from the moon.

Cause? doesnt the moon drive (?) the water? So there must be a high level of moon-feeling. Also of course.. it could be the reason for those bad feelings in that city. (you know.. all people dont know what a "smile" is...:lol

ok--- one reason for the name: the salt...or white gold. so the city was called "salz-burg" like-- "salt-castle"
