I don't agree. I'm in the National Guard, and have been for a little over 2 years now. I haven't deployed yet, but I will when it's our next rotation, whenever that is (I'm in a non deployable Unit but we all still deploy, just not as a Unit since it's a Troop Command)

The Army is stretched to it's limits as it is. You have Active Army Soldiers that deploy for 15 months, and even when they get back from deployment they leave again in less than a year. I have a friend who is in Infantry and he was deployed, and extended, while he was in Iraq last year. He wasn't home for more than 3 months before he went over AGAIN.

National Guard and Reserve Troops, as far as I understand, deploy once every five years and that's only if the Unit deploys for 12 months. So if a Unit deploys for 10 months, then the eligibility is there to be redeployed w/o waiting five years. I know that this doesn't happen often that I've heard of, but it does happen.

So saying that and giving people a general understand of how that works...

I also don't believe that we're the World's rescuers. Yes it's a #ty situation what's going on over there, and I believe as a person first that everyone has the right to live their life to the fullest extent w/ the same rights us Americans take for granted. But we're already in a #ty predicament to begin with. We're fighting in Iraq, and Afghanistan. We have Soldiers who are also deployed to other stations around the World. The price of gas and the cost of living is up. We've spent billions of dollars in the hole, that the next President has to fix and not to mention that doesn't even include the cost of the War in the National Debt!

So whats the point in joining a NEW war w/ America involved in it? Thanks for being in the Army previously, but I'm not out there to risk my life to show we got guns.

i agree,the situation of having Russia or any issue of similar nature jumping up and down to agrivate the global stability is outrageouse.America has made correct decisions many times before and I trust her now Long Live America,I we in Australia are comforted to know that AMERICA is our ally and I know that if we were in trouble that America would be here to stop us being bullied so to speak.It is just games galore from Russia all the time and it was grossly unfair to pick the timing of the attack on georgia at the time of the Olympics Games in Begiene China.And it should be noted that they are not above the LAW. I think you are under valuing Russia, too much propaganda. If the US were invincible as you say we would know about it. Military analysts around the world have said already a war between east and west would have no winners. If you think the US is immune to Russian bombs then I also think you are a victim of propaganda. It appears that the USA couldn't even defeat Afghanistan or Iraq ; what on earth makes you think it would succeed against Russia? Because of your big toys? That is a true rarity that someone would admit when they were wrong, but if you get the chance please watch the video I just posted.

Russia is more vulnerable than you know. I'm not saying Russia is weak, not at all. You can't compare the two based on nukes alone. What makes Russia formidable is they do still have an advanced military. Not only that, they are able to tread over international waters without much conflict, whereas other nations have this problem. You can't just sent your military by air and ocean and expect a free pass, this is what makes USA and Russia unique. They can dispatch their military anywhere in the world.

Now, why is Russia vulnerable? Russia is vulnerable due to NATO. If USA went to war with Russia, you can almost guarantee it would be NATO vs Russia. This means all those anti-missile defense systems spread throughout Europe, and most recently Poland, would be very effective against Russia. You can have nukes, but if you don't have anti-missile defense you are not a viable opponent. Russia DOES have anti-missile, some say it's better than the Patriot system. But Russia would have a very difficult time sending anything out of the country.

It's not all about USA and advanced military technology, which spends more money militarily than the rest of the top 5 countries in the world combined. The key component of a conflict with Russia is it would be USA, Britain, and France. Russia could _not_ win. I have deep respect for Russia, but there is no way they could win against Europe and America. Not saying that Europe and America would demolish Russia, if it would even go that far, but there's no real win scenario for anyone.
