Interesting Sculpture on Hamilton Island

Hi All

Im new to ATS and i thought I'd share these pix with you, this masterpiece was made by an artist called 'Foot' and it greets you as you enter his store on Hamilton Island, The Whitsunday Islands, Australia.

The front inscription reads

"You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall make you free"

And the err... rear reads "Only if you want to be"




It was the last thing I expected to see on a tropical island, there i am on holidays loving being absorbed in the moment, no work, all play and 'bomff' i run into this!! It definately brought me back down to earth, so to speak, it was a case of 'you can amuse yourself with your surroundings, (and champagne in my,and by the, case that day) but you cant hide or forget!

Holy crap, that's pretty interesting. Is there anything else in the area regarding aliens or UFOs? Also did the locals say anything about it's purpose?

Usually statues or public displays like this aren't done as a joke. There's actually purpose and thought behind it.

That's kinda creepy I must say.

That just messes up the whole quotation of Jesus on the statue!

In my opinion this sculpture means that everyone, putting efforts, may build his/her freedom (truth), but also that there's a limit (imposed by someone else): this could be why (IMHO) the artist has depicted someone handling a chisel on himself, but is noticeable that also the alien is holding a chisel, as if he would help the artist to relieve himself, to know the truth As if aliens would agree with disclosure but someone here, on Earth, does not: this is my take on this sculpture, i could be completely wrong, but at least i've added my 2 cents .

Sounds plausible internos. After having looked at it a bit more thoroughly I was under the impression it had to do with the creation of man.

The evolution of mankind was a natural process until self awareness kicked in, and he was able to shape his future. However mankind had external help in becoming what he is today. Since the alien is on the man's back, we can assume that not only is the alien helping chisel the man from the stone, but the ET is also a burden for man. It's always there in the shadows, residing in our pasts, and in our fears. You can also view it as the alien is stabbing the man in the back - there are multiple ways to view it.

For the most part I think what's being said is that they are helping guide the process of our development. For what purpose, who knows.

I took those right outside his store/gallery on Hamilton island , the sculpture is the welcome mat but you dont see the alien until you walk in!!

The Artist goes by Foot only and interestingly he also offers CCP - close personal proctection -bodyguarding for celebs, royalty, weatlhy paranoid folk holidaying on the island. He certainly is a character, a lucky one at that, he lives in Paradise.

I live in the desert currently..

Most of the sculptures/jewellery in his gallery are of aquatic nature, dugongs, turtles etc ala Great Barrier Reef. In amongst all that are alien heads etc just here and there. Its very refreshing!

The alien is holding a probe 'journey to the centre of the earth drill styles' and you can take that however you wish...

Perception is everything.

the feeling i get from it is...

aliens are behind the creation of man , and man is just now discovering the truth by uncovering the layers of secrecy that surrounds himself ?

hehe, the whole place is awesome. Would you like a panorama of the mermaids at day dream island?, i cant offer a dolphin but these are beautiful too.

To me, it looks like the fellow is sort of glancing back at the alien, and the alien is holding a... device really near a... famous place often associated with aliens and devices.
The fellow looks slightly nervous.
Makes me think the fellow who carved it has a sense of humor.

Personally, though, I like the image of a sculpture chiseling itself out of the rock, good symbolism there.

lol ya that would be cool, but I love dolphins. I have a collection of dolphin sculptures would love to add some of those to my collection.

BTW that really does look like a probe in the aliens hand.

Nice one Muse ! Been there seen that . hamilton Island is one of the many hidden bases in OZ .
I went there on a sailing holiday . The nav charts show a magnetic anomaly just north of the island . Its caused by an underground generator .
The 'Anal probe' is a tongue in cheek joke . Its actually a sonic carving chisel .

And if you ever get the chance to visit OZ , its a fantastic place to go for a holiday if your not scared of being probed !
Actually ,when I was there , there were a few carvings of greys inside the gallery . has anyone ever wondered if greys and dolphins are related ?

I have to say this is a great statue, from the more probish looking object than the chisle to the look on the guys face. I would love to see this thing in person.
