Have you ever been to China? They have built up the largest industrial complex in the world. If not stopped within 20 years they will be able to take on both Russia and the US at the same time without much of a problem.

The US leadership thought it was a good idea to ship our industrial capacity overseas. I think this just proves once again that the US is run by hostile foreign bankers, who care nothing about the US people (or any other people for that matter).

I personally believe that if we did have leadership that gave a crap about us, we would do whatever we could to ally with Russia against the coming darkness.

Well, I have a hunch that the Canadians wouldn't allow another country to pass thru theirs to attack us.

It doesn't matter how the media is spinning this. The idea of American troops in a city that is under attack by Russia is making me nervous.

Funny that,
Iran is also a DEMOCRATIC country - should Russia come to their aid when israel/US attack?

Iran Democratic? LMAO only in name.. Iran isn't even close to a democracy, When you have religious leaders dictating everything the people do etc that is not a democracy

Iran is a theocratic republic

Just like we here in the US are turning into....... Don't believe me? Just look into Bush and the Christian fanatics that support him

All this BS is about religion and oil ..

If anything it is a Theocratic dictatorship considering chief of state: Supreme Leader Ali Hoseini-KHAMENEI has been in power (since 4 June 1989)

Iraq.

I'm just curious - how many UN Resolutions did Georgia ignore before Russia decided to invade?

I dunno , was it anymore than the number of resolutions Grenada ignored, before the US invaded to 'save' their citizens (from just possibly getting hurt )..?

Yes quite true and that is step one...

Then there is Step Two... "Military Advisors"

U.S. Military Instructors Command Hirelings in Georgia

Thousands of mercenaries are fighting for Georgia in this burning conflict with South Ossetia. They are commanded by the U.S. military instructors, RIA Novosti reported with reference to a high-ranked officer of Russia’s military intelligence.
“From 2,500 to 3,000 mercenaries fight against Russia’s peacekeepers on behalf of Georgia,” the unnamed source said. Amid them are the natives of Ukraine, some Baltic states and the Caucasus regions.

The U.S. military instructors directly command and coordinate actions of mercenaries without being involved in actual fighting, the source specified. According to intelligence data, there are roughly 1,000 military instructors of the United States in Georgia.

www.kommersant.com...

And then there is Step Three... "Troop Training"

Troops from Atlanta will train in Republic of Georgia

A large contingent of Georgia Army National Guard soldiers flew to the Republic of Georgia on Sunday for joint military exercises at a time when tension is brewing in the region.

The soldiers, mostly from the metro area, will be part of "Immediate Response 2008," which will amount to the largest U.S. footprint on the crossroads of Asia and Europe since the Cold War began.

The three-week operation also provides practical training for the 48th Infantry Brigade's 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment just months before a pending deployment to Afghanistan

I read (and replied) to this on another thread.

The second source is a bit questionable. No pictures or any proof. Just gotta take their word, huh?

The third source is correct, but dated from last month. That exercise ended at the beginning of August.

Awesome! Surely the Russians won't be able to resist taking out a couple of Americans with accidental fire. Then we'll have to respond with force! Luckily, there are already a lot of troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, not doing anything particularly important at the moment. They can be in Georgia in no time! Not to mention the naval and air force forces.

This is going to be fun! We've been waiting for this war for over 50 years!!!

Bring it! We'll be home by Christmas!

I hope this is sarcasim....... Because Russian has categorically stated that if the US becomes involved it would launch nuclear weapons at the United states and that would also mean every nato country.

It would be global nuclear warfair .... more then 1/2 the world population would cease to exist almost overnight..

Wake up.. WE DO NOT WANT THIS !!!!!!!

Quite a bit of propaganda is flying through the air right now. But I get this strange feeling that this one may actually be true.

It covers all of the bases needed for a good solid cover story for a covert operation. It would sound crazy enough to throw off the casual public and would put operatives in the perfect position to. . . You know. . . . Operate.

Talk about being a rant rag think about what Saddam did with US backing during the Iran Iraq war and what he did with the technology that was given to him and how he used it to his own means no matter who paid the price (the butchers bill) and how he used that Knowledge to incite his own agenda with his own people that in the end they paid dearly for him, “go figure”, he was not blind sided and he sure as hell knew that he was playing his talent as a national leader on the big screen and nobody was buying it. Seems to me every one else was just throwing his tactics back at him. As far as the con-juring job of false information, are you’ all so sure? seems like “they” (and I don’t usually stick-up for them) Played it like the cards fell and we went along with it and I don’t think that was a bad thing I do by the by think we should have gave the world just a little more insight of what could have happened if then, Iraqis army or Baath party or extremist would have shown some back-bone how likely there lives would have now been! Believe me you would have known instantly how humble a people can be when there everything goes sideways

I am well aware of the situation in the world today. And what im telling you is the united states may tell you they are stretched then and strapped for cash but its a lie. We wont need many ground troops if we went up against china or russia in the event of a world war. We have weapons far more superior then anyone else. And yes im sure many people will die in this event. What i was saying was there is a master plan, And right or wrong it will reveal itself many years down the road. We dont go to war for no good reason. And yes, Oil is the biggest factor in the big picture. Take all thats going on and piece it together. You will then see what the goal is. Russia is playing there trump card with the united states right now. We want them to allow us to deal with iran without interference and now russia wants to take georgia. Of coarse The united states will say we are helping them with humanitarian aid, But the fact is we will do much more if we are forced to. China most likely will stay out of this because it really doesnt matter to them who comes out of it, As long as they get there oil at a cheap rate and there is no affect on there economy.

And yes it is possible china will be an even more super power in twenty years. But who cares, The united states will be even larger by then. We dont need Billions of people to be affective in war. We have the technology And always will. You seem to be forgetting about our black budget. It is far more money than any budget we see on paper.

I will be back to talk morre, I have things to go do. Look forward to chatting later

Its funny, because you know, I could have sworn the "Great USA" did exactly that in Iraq

Hypocrisy in action there....

Agreed to a certain degree.

However, there are Georgian soldiers in Iraq. It's only fair to treat Their country with respect and aid considering they risked their own in a Middle Eastern nation that's been devastated by us for a pointless and nonsense of a war.

But we shall see how this goes.

I always hear people saying but they will launch nukes!!! Believe me, that is the last thing any super power wants to do. They can threaten it all they want, The fact is they wouldnt be that stupid as to launch them against the united states. And we wouldnt either. After the united states dropped them on japan, The world saw how bad it was including us. Nukes are a last resort. There are some countries that we wouldnt want to have nukes because they would use them. Russia is not one of them. Yes, i do believe we are heading for a major war. But nukes will not be considered till defeat is at there door. And by then we will have a handle on things. I will say it one last time. Do not underestimate the united states. We are very capable of winning on any front. And please dont compare iraq with our capabilities. That is a rues to throw us off from the real reason we are there. Think of it as we need that position to advance to the next arena of war. Call it strategic positioning.

America used falsified intelligence? And you have proof of this? Unquestionable proof?

Sure. The 'Yellowcake from Nigeria' was a obvious fake as well as the random pointing to buildings in Iraq where it was known no such weapons existed. In fact as per the knowledge gained by the inspections the US administration knew quite well what they shouldn't find ( presuming that other nations did not secret WOMD into Iraq) any WOMD and that the 5% margin of doubt sometimes quoted ,with respect to question as to whether some weapons existed or were completely destroyed, could in no way be used for pretext for invasion. The US decided to make further inspections impossible not because they were not effective but because they were so effective that any more of it would rob the US national security state of even the slightest hint of pretext in that regard.

Was it our intelligence or the intelligence of another country? Boy....it is awful dangerous throwing around insinuating assumptions. Now that too stinks of hypocrisy is you ask me.

Maybe you should just stick to economics thought? Since when does the US trust other countries in terms of intelligence when it does not suit the agenda? Since when does most countries?

As far as not agreeing on who is more dangerous? I guess we have a different of opinion there, and I am ok with that. I guess if I differ with you, you think I must be wrong. That leaves no room for debate. I have never felt threatened personally by any Georgian person.

Who around here has felt threatened given the amount of Georgians that exist to threaten? This is not a question of shutting down the 'room' so as to make debate impossible but to introduce some information that would make the debate/discussion useful and the conclusions more reasonable.

But as an American who lives in NY and worked just blocks from the twin towers and lived through that horrible day, I feel threatened by certain Muslims.

Which one's? The one's on the aircraft are all dead ( well depending on who you believe any ways) so what is to fear beside what might result from antagonizing even more Muslims by invading the countries where they live? How is anything made better by the presumption that violence against entire countries will result in fewer radicals?

Yes, call me xenophobic, but we were attacked twice by them at the towers.

You were attacked by some of them, sure but did you start fearing Roman Catholics when Timothy McVeigh ( officially any ways) blew up 168 Americans? So did you?

How many Georgians have hijacked American planes? So did I look at Hussein as a threat. your damn right I did.

Why? Did you expect that some Iraqi's might seek retribution for the fact that the US enforced UN sanctions killed 500 000 Iraqi Children in ten years? Why aren't there blown up buildings all over the US given the fact that so many Iraqi's would have at least somewhat legitimate reasons for planting bombs or killing American servicemen? Would that go some ways towards explaining why some of them have now started to use the opportunity presented by the proximity of US soldiers?

I am glad he is no more, I sleep better at night knowing our American troops are stationed there.

So that tens of thousands of them can be maimed and killed due to your completely irrational and unjustifiable fears? Would you believe me if i told you that those who sleeps soundest are those with clean consciouses? Why not rather work on that aspect instead of contributing the fact that a good proportion of that hundred thousand Americans in Iraq wont?

If Iran is next, so be it. A little more freedom in this world is not a terrible thing

How will Iranians be freer? Do you mean to suggest that the two + million Iraqis that have died as result of US invasions and sanctions are 'freer'? What about the half a million children that died before they were old enough to realise what it meant to be Iraqi or anything else?

A little more sleep for those of us that live in fear of another Muslim led attack on our soil is refreshing.

That's my answer....like it or not.

I don't like it at all but i suppose ATS is not the strangest place to find deeply paranoid people. You do realise that it's paranoia when there is no factual basis don't you? When did Iraq ever attack the US or it's citizens?

Stellar

This is actually a good thing for americans . You can see your politicians fervent almost foaming with anger in their outrage that any nation dare step out of it's borders without their say so and their inability to do anything about it . It diminishes their sense of exceptionalism . It does not stop their rage of unadulterated brazen hypocritical diatribe , but that just makes it all the more fun )
