It took a lot of effort and determination, but we have all benefited because of it.

True dat.

My wife and I have gotten completely away from anything with aspartame, high fructose corn syrup, or MSG in it and buy organic food whenever possible.

Our 5 year old girl used to have crying breakdowns every night around dinnertime, and be really picky about the shapes of the food she ate, and the location of it on the plate. She also had nightmares several nights per week and was really clingy and paranoid.

My wife had the girl on sugar-free (aspartame) soda and sugar-free everything else from a very young age, thinking that it was more healthy than sugar.

Within a week after we got wise and cut off the aspartame, she stopped having dinnertime meltdowns and started sleeping better.

Now we buy her soda at the Mexican store because Jarritos has real sugar in it instead of fake sugar or HFCS, and have stopped buying things with HFCS or MSG, disodium guanylate, etc. We buy organic whenever it is available and all feel better as a result.

After reading Nina Planck's "Real Food" we decided to go organic whenever possible, and since starting "The Paleo Diet" I am beginning to think that too much sugar and bread might not be a good thing.

Of course weaning a kid off soda will be a pain, but she does like juice and in the near future she will be drinking more of it.

I have posted this in another thread, and it was originally a response to a Slashdot post about obesity in the West, but here it is again:

If you would like to know how to combat obesity in the West, I have some keyphrases for you to Google.

high fructose corn syrup secretary of agriculture

aspartame donald rumsfeld

flouridated water obesity

sucralose thyroid gland

saccharin thyroid

thyroid gland function

Pay special attention to High Fructose Corn Syrup. AFAIK it is the quickest way in the world to mess up your metabolism.

YMMV

I cannot believe this...mercury is one of the most toxic substances known to man and although it has not been confirmed that mercury is linked to autism,in the future i believe it will be proved!,I also firmly believe that in the not so distant future people will be getting there mercury amalgam fillings removed due to them being proven to be the cause of health problems.Although we are all poisoned to some degree with this substance in our atmosphere it is non-sensical to add to our mercury body burden with mercury in vaccinations and dental fillings! The W.H.O has stated that mercury is toxic and hazardous yet in America and the UK we continue to use it in dental practice!!!lunacy IMO...

In my experience. this mercury thing is completely overblown. As a child, my brothers, sister, and I use to PLAY with mercury--MANY times. In high school, in biology lab, we use to play with it. Now I am 50--my siblings are 54, 53, and 45. One is a pathologist (and multi-millionaire), another is a speech pathologist, and the youngest is a dermatopathologist. I am the only one without a post graduate degree, but I do have a Bachelor of Science degree. So, obviously our cognitive thinking skills were not affected. Not one of us is sickly, insane, or dying. No one in that biology class is either. (I went to a very small high school and still know these people.) Now, of course, we didn't eat any of it. All I can tell you is that I personally know at least 25 people who handled mercury with no ill side-effects 30+ years later.

P.S. Our children-everyone of them so far--are college graduates, also. We still have 2 that are too young.

there is a huge difference between permanent exposure and breathing the fumes once in a while. both aren't healthy, that's for sure, but fillings remain in your mouth for years, while vaccinations with thiomersal were (are?) sometimes given to newborns, who are of course much more susceptible, just think of their low body mass and rapid growth.

It looks like they are just trying to step the surge from the June findings on Mercury over art the ADA which is under oversight of the AMA. These fools never give up, learn from that.

In June, 2008, the FDA agreed to settle a lawsuit concerning dental mercury. The first shoe has dropped. Here is the link to the story:

www.bloomberg.com...
aX2cb242H12Q&refer=home

The case is: Moms Against Mercury v. Eschenbach, 07cv2332, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

In the settlement, the FDA agreed to bring to a conclusion by July 2009 a regulatory review of mercury in fillings that began in 2002. The process could result in a requirement that prescribing information warn dentists and pregnant women of nervous system dangers to fetuses and young children with developing brains. "Gone are all of FDA's claims that no science exists that amalgam is unsafe," said Michael Bender of Vermont, a plaintiff in the lawsuit.

I agree with you, although there probably was mercury in all my vaccinations. The main reason I say it is overblown is because of a situation that happened in my city. A small mount of mercury spilled on a school parking lot. The school was evacuated. Ridiculous.

Hi Jamamiss,I very much disagree that it is all overblown. Are you saying that you were exposed to mercury on a daily basis with no ill effects

People that work with mercury making the amalgam mixtures wear biohazard suits because the vapour is so dangerous.yes i have held mercury in my hand at school once and im pretty sure many dentists have worked with no protection from the vapour. This does not mean however that it is not a toxic substance.here is a link if your interested > www.time.com...

We all played with mercury as a kid - it was too much fun ;-)

However, everyone is different. Everyone's biochemistry is just a little different and we react to things like this in different ways. There's also a huge difference between external and internal contact.

Back in the day when we were playing with with a broken thermometer at school (the mercury in it), everyone in a class of 14 was fine...except for one person who got severe burns on her hand after handling it.

To me, this is the same reason why most people who get vaccines appear to be fine, then there are some people (like me) who become violently ill after any vaccine, and then the few who regress completely. And no, I am not blaming mercury alone, there's a lot of really bad stuff in vaccines.

And we wonder why doctors get to invent a new disease every day to explain the same common problem in a different way.

It's called the FDA.

It's called the EPA.

It's called the government who is above the people they are elected to serve.

Let's pump more mercury in their systems.

Let's pump more silver iodide in their atmosphere.

Let's pump more flouride in their water.

Let's blame every effect from these issues on tainted tomatoes, lettuce and beef.

Let's take down the unsuspecting population one pill at a time.

They don't need God, they need doctors and "experts"

Mark my words.

They will hang by their toes for their atrocities.

I can understand where you are coming from. However, when you say 'all the time' do you mean to say that you exposed yourselves to it on a daily basis throughout your school years?

I mean, it is still lethal when touched but not nearly as much. You don't deal with it on a daily basis. Where do you think the term 'the mad hatter' came from? They dealt with mercury on a daily basis and by the time they were 10 years down the road a good majority of them were just bonkers.

Now, it won't affect everyone the same way. A good healthy system can withstand some poisons for a while. So if you didn't play with it every day for months and years on end then you can probably get away with little or no permanent damage.

However, administering it to an infant during their biggest developmental stages of their life is a completely different matter. It has NO PLACE in the human body and has NO GOOD EFFECTS like these people will like us to believe. This has been proven many times over. Sorry. Playing with it once in a while in school and at home is a bit different than consuming it or having it introduced into the body.

As for the evacuation of an entire school due to a spill, well, to me it would depend on the size of the spill. If someone dropped a thermometer or something then I would side with you. Even if it were a bit more. It's not likely to harm you out in the open unless you are exposed to it for a long period of time.

I noticed the video of this news story says k-eye news. If you look up k-eye news it is a news station out of austin texas. They now go by the name of keye news not k-eye news. they changed it in 2000. So i will speculate that this news cast is from over 8 years ago.

I might also point out that they said a mercury based vaccine. The fact is small amount of mercury is needed in our bodies. Dont get me wrong, mercury is a poison. Did you know that if you swallow i large drop of liquid mercury it most likely would pass right through you with no harm because of the weight and slickness of it. Here is a link to causes and affects of mercury.
www.nlm.nih.gov...

i wouldnt suggest using mercury for anything. All im saying is our bodies have small amounts of things that would kill us in larger doses. Just like we need the ultra-violet from the sun. But we get to much and it damages our skin cells.

Now the real problem with this story is that vaccines are mandatory and you cannot get your children in school without them. So you are forced to allow them to inject your child with whatever they decide. Many times you wont have a clue to what they are injecting. Talk about a conspiracy! Its the biggest one on such a large scale. Right under our noses and we cant do a thing about it.

Interesting this thread came up, I just had the results back from a blood test for mercury today, I have slightly higher than "normal" levels, but it's OK and not to worry I am told.

Now i am a bit confused, normal levels of a toxin?
I don't want any of it in my body. I guess it's leaching out of my fillings. Or will bad vaccines in the past be slowly releasing the mercury, or was it the stuff I also played with when I was young

From what I've read a blood test only tells me I've come into contact within a few days so I think having above normal levels is not good.

Anyone got any thoughts or info it would be appreciated.
