There's thread after thread coming out on this, and maybe it's time to consider a separate forum for all these threads, because there are likely many more to come. Just a thought.

I agree,
Certainly, maybe not just a forum for the Georgian Issue alone, but maybe a Russian Forum, or new cold war forum.

Much is changing with Russia and the west, from the upcoming obvious differences concerning Iran, the Push for a stronger Russian Military. the Missile defence shield, and also the entire Nato expansion and conflicts this will generate in the future, if only politically.

Certainly it seems the worlds eyes have been on the US/Arab issue and 9/11 etc, I feel we may have taken our eyes of Russia a little bit prematurely.

I feel a new forum should contain;

Georgian issue

Missile Shield

Strategic Bombers Increase and all other Russian Military step ups.

Europe and Nato ascension etc

OIL and Gas energy issues that have been apparent in recent years, and no doubt whose hand will be played again this winter in Europe

The Coming Iranian/Russian issue vis- a -vis the UN and nuclear weapons

Just some ideas for ease of contributions, to also stop the worlds most successful forum from having around 50% or more of content being generated going into "Breaking alternative News" when it is a single topic.

To keep our broad range of issues alive rather than a one track political board. Diversity is a key to survival and growth evolution.

I am trying to be optimistic here and hoping that it will be over before you know it and we won't need the forum. You are probably right though.

I agree; An ad hoc forum should be put installed until this thing ends.

We should call it The 'World At War' Forum

...because we all know where this conflict is going.

I agree with the OP - its hard to keep track of half a dozen similar-orientated threads.

However, not concentrating on Georgia / Russia too much and expand it to what I believe other ATS'ers are thinking - this is a precursor to greater conflictual situations across the World, whether US v Iran is connected or not, times are becoming more militaristic in nature and something is going to give.

Maybe ''the great oil rush'' thread?

Just something to pool them as one!

Well, it seems we were all hoping for this situation to come and go, but it appears it's going to be around a while. And more threads keep coming out on it. It just seems logical to make a place for all of them.

The Russian/Georgian situation will pale in comparison to what will happen in Poland soon. Then maybe the Iran situation, among other possibilities... Will these issues also have a dedicated forum?

By the way the HUGE thread on the Georgian crisis has become difficult to navigate, I'd like to see the updates and member reactions, but they are painful to find and follow.

Is it really necessary to have one giant thread on that topic?

I think the megathread is doing a great job. It has been rocky recently but has yielded a great wealth of information recently and is in a good position to be the only thread on this topic.

90% of the contents of the satellite threads are of the same subject, and it makes sense that they should wish to join the megathread. The satellite threads should be forcibly annexed into the megathread.

Hopefully we can do this quietly and without interference from other threads.

Actually, note to ATS tech staff, the main thread seems to have broken.

The "last page" links and the "next" link on page 248 go only to page 248, while page 249 is actually active and diplays links to nonexistent pages 250, 251, 252.

Some counter in a PHP loop somewhere isn't happy I guess.

EDIT: NM, now someone else posted and it's going to page 249, I guess it's fixed already

If a forum is not going to happen, and it seems by the lack of response from ATs staff and mods that could be the case I will create the same for the categories mentioned here by members for our ease and research.

All of this is a bit of a work in progress so please bear with me too and add your links when that thread is open.

And also in response to this thread;
I suggest a new forum for the Russia-Georgia conflict

In addition it is my belief, that this situation marks the most important change in world affairs post 9/11.

The need therefore, for the ability to research and understand these events in a balanced and in the easiest way possible. Truly many of us could potentially follow in the footsteps of our Fathers and Grandfathers, Mothers and Grandmothers, in the potential for Drafting and war effort work, if this does escalate to a World War.

Before any of us are led quickly down any such path, It is only by that person being sure of having the correct information, and understanding the different sides of the situation, that they can make informed decisions on their stance, and respond in relation to any obligations or demands made upon them in an honest way.

I hope this will help those at ATS and the readers, be able to home in on the truth of the big picture in these events, and hopefully keep up the good work of ATS in denying ignorance and searching for the truth.
