Did you modify the properties of the pics? Can't find date and time to verify you taking the pics at same time or running them through photoshop etc. Other pics you've posted in the past had these properties left intact. I've since learnt on this forum the exif data can be manipulated ... perhaps you also read this useful info. What's with the chinese author title?

There are 2 other threads, one in UK going dark and one in Toronto going light - but an explosion occured to maybe have caused this one ...

There are plenty of heavy rain cloud's floating around the U.K at the moment. The contrast from light to dark in the two pictures you provided is very characteristic of the current weather we are seeing one minute it is light the next very dark.

I would say there is nothing to worry about at all in the pictures we are looking at on this thread.

And i would ask the op to stop Fear mongering in order to leverage the opinions and actions of others at ATS for some unknown reason.

Take care.

Lee

STFU. I don't want 'actions' from any ATS members, tfsc.

And we're off to a quick "STFU" in only the second page of the game, targeted at the very first reply of denial.

Ugh

seriously messed up weather here for the last week.

Got a strike or a near strike from lightning storm.Messed up van electrics, killed battery and messed up some of my work equipment.

Was driving in Fred's neck of the woods at the time too.
Drove from instant daylight to nighttime under a waterfall. The stormcells were beautiful.

Got to test out my Sprayaway Goretex jacket.woohoo!

Minute later it was past.Flash floods all round too.
......

The Canada "night to day" looks like it was solved by that propane explosion..It looked like the raid on Baghdad footage at first..ouch.!

EDIT..
Shout out to the R.A.C guy who got me home after a two hour wait..

So glad my PSP still worked and had 'matrix' with me.

Dan, as you know, the weather in this part of the world is notoriously fickle, and where I live is very similar in terrain to the ground in your photos. There is something about heather covered hills that makes light change dramatically...even if the light is sharp as it in here...the soft colours make any cloudiness seem more dramatic. I think I could probably reproduce something very similar to your photos from my back garden on an average August day here...the weather just now is moving from warm still sunshine to dark cloud and heavy rain in seconds, at times.

Hate to rain on your parade, but a trick of the light, I think...

There is a lunar eclipse on the 16th august.Should be visible approx 9pm gmt.
There may be something that has been overlooked and i cant find the thread.but it was in relation to black plumes of steam? Black smokers near north pole?I may be clutching at straws but it`s in the vicinity of all the light and dark occurances.

That doesn't look like "night" to me at all. It looks like it was probably overcast to begin with and then a thunderhead came over and made it very dark. Around here I wouldn't even hardly notice something like that if it were not for the fact that my eyes had to adjust a bit. It also happens up in Washington state where I used to live.

I see nothing out of the ordinary here. Well except for that in your second picture you don't actually have a picture of the sky for a valid comparison, kwim?

DT, concerning that which has spooked you, I have placed some questions for you on that thread.
I am serious and wish to help you if I can. I have tried to send you a u2u message, but I am told there are some bugs in that system at this time.

Without seeing the whole picture(number 2 with sky in it) I call scam. I am sure if we say the whole picture we would see some dark clouds. I live in florida and it easily gets dark when a storm passes, and that is everyday. I will take pictures if you like to prove my point. Post the whole picture of 2.

I doubt Dan will post the whole of picture 2. He hasn't yet explained why it shows a completely different view to that shown in the other two pictures

As per usual when people post extraordinary photos with amazing claims, people are going to demand that you post the orignal photos without any size (or other) editing whatsoever for examination. You should probably go ahead and get that out of the way so that people won't have cause to doubt you.

Personally, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and can easily imagine how someone could have taken the initial photo normally, and then taken the second one only when the event actually transpired, and thus having traveled some distance and being in a different location (hence their differences.) I can also easily imagine how someone would crop a photo for posting online. The first time I ever shared photos online I cropped them (granted they were just personal photos to share with friends.)

They are NOT the same areas. Look at the river and how it winds in the first one. Also check out the hills as they are completely different. All that is asked is an explanation as to why.

I agree with you 100%. People love to exagerrate. I live in the area of the
great plains USA that is in the western lane of the infamous "Tornado Alley".
We get severe thunderstorms frequently. The other day, at 4 PM, it went from
bright sunlight conditions, to "darkness" in less than 10 minutes.

Thick, dark clouds blocked the sun completely...but, as dark as it was, I would NOT
say it was "night" as some of these posters keep claiming here. If these
phenomena were real, such as "daytime at 4AM" as someone else claimed,
(and vice-versa) it would be all over the news. There's no shortage of
professional and amatuer astronomers, military and civilian meteorologists,
airplanes in flight, etc, etc, etc...thousands of people would be reporting this stuff!

Well, I copied the dark image (middle one) and applied a simple auto exposure to it and voila it looks pretty normal. I would say that the image was under exposed. It almost looks like the sun is shining on the slope in the upper middle of the pic.
I am going to say that this thread is a hoax.

Ok, so it got dark in the middle of the day. If i would have witnessed that, the first thing i would have done would have been checking what happened to the source of daylight: the SUN.

Was it covered by a thick cloud? Was it covered by a mothership? Was it covered by the moon? Has it completely disappeared?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but you said you did look up and it was dark. But you never said anything about the sun.

Yeah, I did the same. Bringing up the lightness of a true dark picture doesn't result in a clear, seemingly daytime, picture - it results in a crappy lightened picture of darkness. Whereas the pic of darkness posted here has the former effect - that of a daytime, darkened by exposure or post-editing..
