A most enjoyable thread.

Although I wish to remain anonymous,... I will say that I am a digital artist at Redstrorm Ent.

redstorm.com...

I was not here during G.R.1, but there are a number of artists here who were, and we have all enjoyed my communicating this thread thru our "humor" e-mail list...

From what I can tell , thru talking to a few who were here during the production for G.R.1, it really is all coincidental,... at least from Redstorm's point of view...

You have to remember, when a video game is being developed, current events are researched and incorporated into the game to lend authenticity to the game.

That being said,... It is weird that the "start" of the current conflict is so close to the story put forth in G.R.1...

Still, I am sure the production of the game was in no way influenced by some "CIA operative" within the ranks of Redstorm...

Maybe the "Powers That Be" try to mimic popular culture story lines as a way of obfuscating the subject as a whole...

Well, Ghost Recon does follow in Tom Clancy's footsteps.

Tom Clancy was notorious for being able to take a world situation, and giving you a very thorough "what if" scenario.

Chances are, the GR team simply did enough of a good job to predict that the Georgian Russian tensions would eventually boil over.
In my opinion, it was a matter of time, given Georgia's unfortunate location.

If you're right about it taking place in August of '08, then that's one heck of a coincidence.
But no more than the coincidence of the date of the main conflict starting on 8/8/8.

I played GR and fully remember the plot being just like whats going on now.

As bad as it sounds I hope in the future they make suites like the ones in Crysis where US goes to war with Korea because I need one for myself to score some more chicks.

hmmm i never thought of it that way...who knows maybe that is true too.
well im glad you guys at redstorm are getting a kick out of the thread, but you have to admit for someone who dosnt work there to see something like this happen so closely is pretty crazy!

did you ever hear of the thing about the "lone gunman" pilot episode before though?

All this Tom Clancy conspiracy talk is hilarious. A coincidence, nothing more. The guys who made the game did good research and it happened to come true.

What if we go to war with Russia or Iran? You guys going to claim that Call of Duty 4 was released to prepare us for the conflict? Try drinking a little less cool-aid.

Oh yeah!

That "Lone Gunman"- 9/11 tie-in is very creepy!

Sure does make one wonder what came first, the NWO egg, or the NWO chicken!

One could consider the possibility that the players of this game brought on the war by playing the game through something like a collective conciousness. Video games can be very stimulating and the person playing the game is an actor and likely totally goes into another zone inside their head. There is probably something going on in the player's mind that surpasses scientific understanding. In a way, that trance like state could almost be like a continuous prayer, for lack of a better word - these players are not in any real danger as they play, so it creates a stead fast flow into the characters and plot/s of the game and such eventually becomes a reality.

The exact month and date is really intriguing though. I am not sure how that was managed, but maybe humans are becoming more and more adept at bringing things on themselves and make fantasy become a reality and they were able to get it right on the mark this time.

If this is true then every video game will eventually become a reality in some way, which would be a pretty nerve wracking prospect as there are some pretty hideously scary video games out there.

Correct, but just because Georgia was killing Russians inside of Georgia doesn't make it ok. If Mexico started shelling Americans inside their own boarder, does that mean America has to sit back and watch??? No. 90% of of S.O.s are Russian citizens carrying Russian passports. In the middle of the night, the Georgian army started shelling cities, not military bases, killing thousands of Russain civilians. Keep this in mind when the media tries to steer you in the direction of killing Russians inside of Georgia is ok, but defending Russians inside of Georgia is wrong.

PS Dump Israel, we support their political agendas, give them billions of dollars a year and all we recieve in return is a growing red target on our backs!!!!!!!!!!!

This make you wonder how close some of the other games you play, or books you read are close to the truth.

Example :

Ghost

Kildar (The Ghost)

Two books about a former Navy S.E.A.L turned mercenary, in Bosnia and Georgia (Russia) very near where the oil-pipelines that are currently being fought over and protected as a part of this struggle right now.

The first Splinter Cell game had Georgia or was it Russia? trying to use nuclear weapons or something like that. I thought I remembered them being involved.

I'm happy to see that when I submitted this thread to DIGG, it now has 43 "DIGG's" from outside of ATS.

That means a potential of 43 new people brought onto the boards, at least to look around.

I know the Ghost Recon game similarly shadows current events in Georgia with Russia, but how many people remember Hugo Chavez pitching a hissy fit over the game "Mercenaries 2" in the fact that he's accused the C.I.A. intentionally putting his country in the game as an attempt towards his assassination?

I even did a college assignment on that. I'd submitted it here, but it would be off topic.

I've submitted it elsewhere on ATS :

Becoming a Detective of Conspiracy Theories

There's a lot of truth mixed in with fiction in the video games being introduced with current events, whether it is done as a selling point, or a covert C.I.A. action however, is strongly in question.

I will take this one step further. In the 90's I read a book where one of the things mentioned was that Russia would seek to gain control of state(s) that once were part of the Soviet Union, particularly the Caucasus region, which would lead to a "catastrophic world event" that would than usher in the Vatican into world dominion.

You think this sounds crazy that the Vatican could be in a position of world leadership. Think again. Its coming and its the beginning of the end for mankinds time for going on his merry way doing things our way here on earth. Jesus is returning.

i listened to that interview and I didn't hear anyone openly suggest the CIA provided the script. They DID mention there was apparantly some pyschic the CIA hired to keep tabs on writers and so forth but that was all. I'm not disputing some warning was in that x files episode but why did you just twist what was said in the interview you posted?
