Yes, thats true, there are alot of old laws that seem idiotic today still on the books. That cannot be compared with mexicans entering the UNITED STATES ILLEGALLY.

Why not? My friend this debate has gone on for 23 pages. 23 pages of people repeating the same rhetoric as you. "They are criminals", "they are gang bangers", now "they are an army". Out of all the statements made not one was able to back it up with a legitamete source showing the problem to be as significant as their media has told them it is.

Can you give me one good reason why they should be allowed into this country. Why do you want them here so badly?

It is not about me wanting them in this Country or not. To me it is a non issue. In other words I feel like people have been convinced that this is an issue when it is not in order to distract them from the real issues. Same thing with gay mariage, etc.

Racism is alive and sick as it ever was. They will deny it, but that is all there is to it. I've spent some time on the High Plains of Texas and the cowboys there don't miss an opportunity to give dirty looks and yell insults or put downs to any Mexican that they see. That is if they are behind the wheel of a truck and are armed with a firearm. But I've seen one neatly dressed very articulate Mexican man get up from his wife and another couple and confront four drunken very obnoxious white trash rednecks about the disrespect that they were directing toward himself and his friends, and these bad a**es couldn't have looked more ashamed if they had been caught mounting a sheep. They even payed for their meals and drinks. I think that on this forum these guys that are so full of bravado because they get support from people of the same ilk and lack of character as themselves. Eye to eye confrontations and they might have to rethink their position

I don't buy your story. If this did in fact occur, then the Texans were definitely out of line. Mexicans and people from any country are welcome here, as long as they enter the country LEGALLY. If they entered ILLEGALLY, they are criminals who are invading this country and must be arrested immediately and sent back to their country. But I am wondering what your point is? Are you saying that all Americans are cowards?

The North American Union will fix it. No "illegal" immigrants if they're all citizens.

Personally I'm for amnesty under one condition: government sponsored English lessons.

Bring your culture, bring your way of life, bring your masses, but learn our language.

reason being is balkanization creates fear, which creates racism. If you can understand what the guy with different skin is saying, it's the first step towards tolerance and acceptance.

people need to understand before they can tolerate and accept others.

* Town wonders if it's next to face immigration raid

LAUREL, Miss. --
A day after the largest single-workplace immigration raid in U.S. history, Elizabeth Alegria was too scared to send her son to school and worried about when she'd see her husband again.

Nearly 600 immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally were detained, creating panic among dozens of families in this small southern Mississippi town.

Alegria, 26, a Mexican immigrant, was working at the Howard Industries transformer plant Monday when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents stormed in. When they found out she has two sons, ages 4 and 9, she was fitted with a bracelet and told to appear in federal court next month. But her husband, Andres, wasn't so lucky.

"I'm very traumatized because I don't know if they are going to let my husband go and when I will see him," Alegria said through a translator Tuesday as she returned to the Howard Industries parking lot to retrieve her sport utility vehicle.

The superintendent of the county school district said about half of approximately 160 Hispanic students were absent Tuesday.

Roberto Velez, pastor at Iglesia Cristiana Peniel, where an estimated 30 to 40 percent of the 200 parishioners were caught up in the raid, said parents were afraid immigration officials would take them.

"They didn't send their kids to school today," he said. "How scared is that?"

One worker caught in Monday's sweep at the plant said fellow workers applauded as immigrants were taken into custody. Federal officials said a tip from a union member prompted them to start investigating several years ago.

Fabiola Pena, 21, cradled her 2-year-old daughter as she described a chaotic scene at the plant as the raid began, followed by clapping.

"I was crying the whole time. I didn't know what to do," Pena said. "We didn't know what was happening because everyone started running. Some people thought it was a bomb but then we figured out it was immigration."

About 100 of the 595 detained workers were released for humanitarian reasons, many of them mothers who were fitted with electronic monitoring bracelets and allowed to go home to their children, officials said.

About 475 other workers were transferred to an ICE facility in Jena, La. Nine who were under 18 were transferred to the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

John Foxworth, an attorney representing some of the immigrants, said eight appeared in federal court in Hattiesburg on Tuesday because they face criminal charges for allegedly using false Social Security and residency identification.

He said the raid was traumatic for families.

"There was no communication, an immediate loss of any kind of news and a lack of understanding of what's happening to their loved ones," he said. "A complete and utter feeling of helplessness."

Those detained were from Brazil, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, and Peru, said Barbara Gonzalez, an ICE spokeswoman.

"We have kids without dads and pregnant mothers who got their husbands taken away," said Velez's son, Robert, youth pastor at the church. "It was like a horror story. They got handled like they were criminals."

I guess no one told him they are criminals. It is illegal to cross the border undocumented.DUH

Those brave American union workers won't be applauding for long. I've never seen an union employ that could do in a day, what a Mexican employ can do in thirty minutes. Somebody is gonna be sweating and having to earn their wages. _javascript:icon('

Yes, that is a beautiful thought. I really do wish there could be peace in the world. Unfortunately, not all people have the same idea about what a perfect society is and should be. This is why we cannot let these ILLEGALS into the US. They carry diseases and are morally bankrupt. They will destroy our way of life. Now, Lets have some feedback.

Plain and simple, If they arrive Illegal, they should be treated as such. If they go through the proper channels and arrive here legally, may their stay be a pleasant one. Where I live, we constantly hear of the "wet foot, dry foot" policy, more details here.

The problem with a law like this one is that all too often, some of the people that come to America already have a rap sheet in their home country, (yet another reason to come?) and that can result in unnecessary criminal activity by these illegal immigrants, sometimes leading to unfortunate and sad circumstances. Such as innocent people becoming a victim of the foreigner felon's violence due to the court's failure to recognize whether or not they are "wanted" elsewhere. Be it at a county or state level. That is a chore in itself considering where I live, thousands of immigrants arrive monthly and there have been multiple instances where they provide bogus ID and or Social Security cards, and most recently an illegal killed a police officer in one county and had a warrant in another.

You haven't lived until you go to your local store and asked where something is, and they don't understand you.

Maybe the OP might feel differently if they all moved into his town or city.
Just a thought.

Man , Woman or whatever you are. You are not a person that joined the Marines at 17 years of age 41 years ago, served in a regiment that had the highest casualty percentage of any other in the Vietnam War, and stayed with a grunt company with injuries that rated a service connected disability at nineteen years of age. I do have intolerance for anyone that is intolerant of people that are the rightful native people of the North American Continent. You talk of an invasion. You talk of a new country called Aztlan. Where I grew up and have spent my entire life is Aztlan. It isn't a new idea for name for a new country. It is the PreColumbian name of the Southwest U.S.A. If you are A True American at least learn about the history of the continent and its native people. If I hated anybody you would have read about it in the paper. Oh you only play games and jack around on the computer and probably listen to Rush L. and watch Bill O. I can't tell you how many dead people I have seen, But the first one I saw die was named Martinez. He was loved by Marines and he was born in Aztlan. People like you will never understand that kind of love.

To all those with issues regarding illegal immigrants:

Do you people know how difficult it is to enter the US to live and work? If a person is in Mexico, starving, watching their family succumb to ill-health, living every day in a rotting shack, with raw sewage running down the middle of their street, are you honestly saying they should save up the thousands of dollars it takes to get a visa, wait for the paperwork to be processed (which takes months, years in some cases), then move? They're not treating it like, say, middle-class Americans moving to Europe, from one relative luxury to another - these are desperate people who love their families trying to do the best for them, just as you do for yours. They are no different.

Also the bitter irony of a country founded by illegal immigrants, whose very wealth and economic strength has been greatly in part to illegal immigrants, now turns around and says "no! our ancestors were illegal immigrants, but when you do it it's not OK." is palpable.

Doesn't that strike you as a wee bit hypocritical?

I hope if you and your family are in dire straits the people who can help you don't turn you away over some perceived injustice your very presence causes.

Illegal immigrants do the work no Americans want to do. They serve in your army, they fix your houses, they pick, process, bag, and transport your food. Without them your already-stretched budgets would be at breaking point. Think food prices are high now? Just you wait when the people picking the fruit and vegetables are being paid minimum wage. The look on your faces would be priceless, if it didn't come at such a tragic cost, to both yourselves and the people denied work because you don't understand how your country was founded, how your country became prosperous, and how your economy works.

It's tempting to call you racist, but I will refrain and give you the benefit of the doubt. It could just as easily be the normal human reaction of lashing out at something obvious when feeling under pressure - perpetually looking for that scape goat which will make everything better. Hitler used a similar approach to rally popular German support against the Jews - he blamed everything on them - the flagging economy, the loss of the first world war, social disharmony, everything - and look how that worked out.

Whatever the cause for your sense of grievance, surely you realise there's more than enough room in the US for countless immigrants, and more than enough jobs you really should want these people doing. They are the life-blood of your country, and they cherish living in it far more than many American citizens. The sooner people realise this, the better.

Actually, I do understand and respect your service to this great nation. The Mexican people never occupied this land in great numbers if at all and noone originated here. Everyone European, Mexican, Native Americans all came from another continent. The bottom line is: If someone enters this country ILLEGALLY, they are criminals. Period. Also, I don't listen to Rush or Bill O. I am able to think on my own and do not need to be programed by these people.
Also, ILLEGAL Mexicans steal jobs away from the Mexicans who arrived here LEGALLY. CLOSE THE BORDER NOW.

This country was already occupied by its original residents (pick any Indian Tribe), before Columbus accidentally landed here. As for the LEGAL immigrants that arrived on Ellis Island, when they arrived, they at least attempted to fit in with the American way of life i.e.=Learning the English language, customs, etc.

Hitler used a similar approach to rally popular German support against the Jews - he blamed everything on them - the flagging economy, the loss of the first world war, social disharmony, everything - and look how that worked out.

So you equate anyone who disagrees that it's o.k. to welcome illegals with open arms to that ego-maniacal poor excuse for a human. Way to make a blanket statement there, putting all the potatoes in one big pot.

Apparently, you haven't tried to find a job in the SE USA. I have lived here all my life, and speak the English language. when someone else is hired and they know maybe a phrase or two of English, and you are left looking for work while they are now gainfully employed, you CANNOT tell me you would be just a little ~@%! off!!! There IS NOT enough room at ALL for Illegals! Or maybe it would take sitting in a day labor office (you being the only caucasian there), everyone is sent off to work and you are left waiting, willing to do the same work, but over-looked. Is there enough room?

And I'm Spent

to all Americans, please, i know the two kind of illegals break your immigration laws, but don't put us in the same bag.

I do agree with you on a personal level. However the US does have a problem and as some others have said it goes straight back to the politicians who are paid off by the corporations. I have noticed as we approach election time there have been several well publisied raids on corporations. (no doubt this will end Dec1)

We also see in the news stories about sanctuary cities and extremist groups such as Atzlan and La Raza . I have caught latinos in the act of stealing from me on several occasions and so have my friends and neighbors. I have seen the emergency room filled with latinos and I have had a friend turned away while illegals were treated. Unlike many I blame my government for the mess but it is still a problem. Many will go after the latinos since they can not take their frustration on on our government.

"Atzlan" is mythical Mexican territory located in the western and southwestern United States. This is the land that millions of Mexicans (in and out of the U.S.) say belongs to them and they are going to take it back. The latest tweek in many Mexican minds is that the 'take over' will not STOP in designated west and southwest areas - look how easy it has been so far. That's it. Simple enough? www.phxnews.com..." extra DIV

Very well said! I would hope that whether or not people agree or disagree with your post they would at least consider that you represent an outside perspective. Things are often times seen much clearer when you are not being polarized by an issue. For that reason we should respect the 3rd party point of view.
