Ok, ever since the Santana Video with the young drummer was posted. I've been finding related videos child prodigies.

This is a young Girl, started picking a mandolin at 8.
this was when she was probably about 13 or 14...

Sierra Hull, on the mandolin...

Kinda gives me hope that This music, brought over from Ireland, and other related Isles. Is still alive and evolving in America.

I remember my jaw dropping, when seeing this kid, who "Obviously didn't belong in the band." Just overpowering the audience with what has become one of the most famous drum solos of all time.

Hey spacedoubt .. just sort of curious .. were you at woodstock 69?

Don't mean to pry ..but have to admit I'd be envious if you had been.

Nope!
I knew about it. I liked that kind of music...but I was too too young.
So no envy required!
I did see the Movie really soon after it came out....So that's my memory of the little drummer boy.
I was just learning the drums at the time. Had my first Bass drum, 2 toms, a snare, and two cymbals.

...she's great... appalachian mandolin is alive and well... my first introduction was about 50yrs ago and it was already a really old genre...

...years later, i was introduced to an italian american mandolin player and he was the best lookin thang i'd ever seen... never got over him or mandolins, lol... the video below is not him, lol, just a little glimpse into that style (which i prefer to appalachian)...

...i can play traditional but since i got my electric, i'm often like this (really cute) young man cuz its lots more fun and it makes my dog howl...

I like Harleys for girls
jus kidden.. my buddy had a nice Nightrain and there has been one custom V-Rod would have possibly traded straight up for but overall just not enough for what I like particularly with this one, now the custom green BigDog another friend had is a little different story plus the American Star thing and Yamaha being my first motorcyle and 3-wheeler.. forgot to mention loved the Grizzly400 had a few years back also
