Hey Duncan - thanks for your input and personal experience - I hate to see valuable sources be scoffed at - but it's also the norm on this website too (unfortunately).

Whether this is valuable or not is exactly what's debatable. You should therefore expect some amount of scoffing.

You are right about that, you can always expect some amount of scoffing, and even more, in many replies it is clearly debunking and with only one purpose, bringing the thread and the supporting posters as much as possible in discredit, but I suppose you sorely noticed that also?

Judging from the amount of blind support I've seen, I'd say it's sorely needed. What you may not realize is that blind belief actually harms ufology and causes it to lose its own credibility. Practice some discretion--practice some skeptical analysis and discernment. Show that you are not out to "prove" your own beliefs for their own sake, but because you've placed truth as the highest goal. This will go much farther for you than latching onto any bit of "evidence" and refusing to question its credibility.

Wow! Now you are Trolling on behalf of Ufology!

Please stop derailing these threads. Please do not respond to this with more slander.

It important for the new members to know who the trolls are. You may call me a troll, but it is important that someone point out your intentions by reminding others of your past actions and obvious agenda (and your excuses).

Your opinion is important, but when you are so persistent on telling us about it and slander and deride those who disagree with you - that opinion becomes a hindrance and a repetitious nuisance that you attempt to ruin ufo threads with.

How many times do you have to give us you opinion in one thread?
-And you do this in EVERY UFO thread. please stop trolling. We already have your opinion, pages of it.

You may now commence with the expected and predictable Scorn and Derision.

I'm flattered that you grant me such power as to derail an entire thread, but it's still a bogus charge. My insights and opinions are every bit as valid as anyone else's, and I find it sad that you're now thread-hopping solely to attack me. Why don't you try contributing something a little more useful to the topic itself.

You mean all of the two threads I've engaged at length in? I haven't slandered anyone in here, and while I may be too repetitious, that doesn't make me a troll. That would be your slander. So again, since this is now the 3rd thread you've popped up in merely to make a comment about me, I suggest you dispense with the "newcomers need to know" excuse and heed your own advice about derailing threads.

Well that is funny, that is exactly what I expect a debunker would say in such matters.

I agree that it is not wise to base you opinions on pure blind belief, but that counts in my opinon for both sides in ufology.

Yes, I agree with you. I think the misperception is that all skeptics are debunkers because they insist on scrutinizing the details.

I'm quoting your entire previous post now, since this is the second time you've edited it as a reply to me instead of posting anew, as it's obvious you don't want people to see that you're persisting in wasting thread space to quibble with me.

Past actions? Obvious agenda? Excuse me, but you do not speak for me nor my intentions. Face it: you have a personal issue with me because of our other thread, and you chose to act on that by attacking me in yet another thread. If you have anything more you'd like to say to me, then U2U it and quit using thread space as your score card.

I think this old guy is telling the truth.

It seems as though disclosure is picking up the pace, just look at all the ufo shows Larry King has been doing and look at all the astronauts now coming forward - and what about NASA announcing water on mars and pics of something growing on the lander... WOW!

The only thing is, if George Bush ( a known liar) comes forward with an announcement of extraterrestrial life, some people won't believe him just because he lies so much. His whole administration does.

I hope it happens soon - so many people have dedicated their lives to this and risked so much to share what they know that they deserve to be vindicated.

Heck, I'd be happy if they found 'Water Bears' - but those blueberry looking mushrooms all over the martian surface have good prospects also. I can see this being very bad for the Democrats in November.

P.S. Would the user please who is editing my posts in order to defame me please stop.

Glad to see you join the thread, TruthTellist.

I don't know if he's telling the truth or not, but I personally think it's insignificant either way. The real case I believe is Mitchell. Yes, disclosure may be coming soon. And I agree--let's hope it happens come next year, it could only help the democrats.

So, is this guy retired, or was he politely seperated from the space program? His inability to collect on his retirement doesn't lend much support to his claims. My guess is that the space program wanted to avoid the emberassment of having a potential media fiasco on their hands. After checking out his sites and the statement that he is only willing to share his story if paid in advance, I have no belief in his claims. An 8-9 foot tall alien in an orbiting space shuttle, talking to two astronauts, with a "starship" in the background would be something the program would want to keep very close to temselves. If there is any credibility to the story, they would be more prone to keeping all involved very quiet, and very happy with their position in the program. For myself, I don't belive the story.

No, I disagree with you here, that’s obvious your misperception, there is a big difference in being a skeptic and being a debunker.
A skeptic is as you also know someone who habitually doubts accepted beliefs, and a debunker is an individual who discredits and exposes claims as being false, exaggerated, unscientific or pretentious.

On a totally unrelated note, has anyone realized that Dr. Mitchell is on the payroll as a consultant for the X-Files? He "came out" and "admitted" his beliefs back in 1998 to coincide with the first movie, too. Look it up.

I'm not saying I believe this or not; i'm withholding judgment here.

But I really wish that some people would get over the idea that evreybody over some arbitrary age is senile. I remember Eisonhower as POTUS, and I can still tie my shoes; thank you very much.

Decide on a case by case basis, not as a blanket indictment of everyone past your own limited horizon.

And yes, in case you're too immature to figure it out, I'm posting not as a moderator, but as an "old" member. Deciding someone's "worth" as a witness based on age is no different than saying because someone is black, they must be of lower IQ. Or because someone is from Latin America they must be backward. Or that because someone lacks a PHD they must be a liar.

This person deserves the same respect you would want.

You are a mod and you talk like this?
While I agree that no one should be blanketed with a "senile" label based on age, you are a little bit too angry and mouthy (for a moderator)

Anyone else I can see, but a moderator?

Saying "I'm posting not as a moderator, but as an "old" member" doesn't let you off the moderator hook dude.

Be a mod or don't be, Mods are supposed to practice a bit more civility REGARDLESS of the situation.
Create a second account if you want to be a defensive and retalitory moron.

"And yes, in case you're too immature to figure it out, "

seriously? You said that to someone? Now he is limited and immature? Who's making judgements now? How old are you? You get this pissed off by a generalized "senile" comment?

You are as much part of the problem as that guy... everyones always so "offended" by everything. How mad did you get? Over someone else's ignorance? What does that make you? Captain Tolerance?

How old are you?....Grow up already.

Hey all - I'm wondering if anyone here knows of any other reports of 8-9 foot tall aliens - (I think that's the real issue here, not Mr. McClelland, per se) -

This thread has gone on and on about credibility - I'm interested in whether or not there are other accounts of aliens similar to what he has described, anyone?

This is a laod of BS..

"habitually doubts accepted beliefs"

Obviously wiki is being edited by people who hate skeptics.
These words make it sound as though a skeptic in steadfastly refusing to believe scientific proofs.

We need to define "accepted" here, where "accepted" in the sense of 99% of the stuff on ATS means "accepted by a lot of people here, but not of anyone with any even remotely tangible proof"

"accepted" in the sense that all we have are really crappy videos, stories from random people and no real hard evidence. No evidence that any real scientist could point to and say "Thats proof".

That I could "accept".

It is perfectly VALID to be skeptical of a 8-9 foot alien if no 8-9 foot alien has neven been photographed, captured or interviewed by Larry King.
It is NOT valid in IMHO to be a believer otherwise.
Its an alien concept to me to believe someone just on face value about "incredible" claims.

Last I checked a general belief in 8-9 foot aliens wasn't "accepted".

Skepticism is a mindset that demands some kind of proof other than someones word or a parlor trick.
(I am looking at YOU Mr. Uri Gellar)
Something REAL should be able to be demonstrated in any situation.

Someone like you may believe them on face value and that's your choice.
Someone like me chooses to have them prove it to me or move on to the next guy with 10 bucks in his pocket.
Being a skeptic isn't being a stubbern ignoramous like your wiki definition makes it out to be.

I think Walton saw some tall grays when he was in the base infirmary.

Imagine the base finding some tall guy and putting him up to walk
by his sick bed.

You realize the saucer knock him to the ground and as his buddies
ran off, he had to be taken to a hospital.
