The November 9th 2010 LHC Castor experiment is almost here. Oh boy.

A top boffin at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) says that the titanic machine may possibly create or discover previously unimagined scientific phenomena, or "unknown unknowns" - for instance "an extra dimension".

If I am correct this Shiva statue was a gift from India? This raises a lot of questions.....probably all answered somewhere here on ATS. Why was India so kind to give such a beautifull statue....why did India expected CERN to be so thankfull and happy to receive such a gift that they would place it outside CERN HQ? And what is the connection with what they do at CERN and Shiva?

That can be very dangerous.....especially when a highly respected scientist will conduct some experiment of which he says it is safe because his calculations say so....

I remember a story about a highly respected specialist of the study of viruses and viral disease. He was so convinced of his calculations and findings that he injected his grandchildren with some stuff to undeline his indisputable conclusions nobody else was able to verify or understand. One child died and the other received polio.

That's what we're trying to answer. According to mythology, Shiva was "The Destroyer" or transformer. It's a bit too "in your face" to place a statue of that diety at CERN, in such a prominent place on the grounds, when there are so many conspiracists out there already convinced that the LHC is the doom of us all. Ironic, isn't it?

Have you seen that particular statue and do you have knowledge of the CERN grounds?
As a many time visitor to CERN, it always struck me that this statue was installed in a decidedly humble location, between office building 40 and the dorm. There are a bunch of umbrellas in the summer which mostly obscure the view. I'd rather them put it next to cafeteria, it's a nice piece of art.

CERN HQ is a few hundred meters away and doesn't seem to connect visually at all, with this piece.
