Here's something I posted on a similar thread a while back:

I'm only up to page four of this very interesting thread, but I've already (last year) done a little research into the LHC/bottomless pit
connection as it relates to the passage in Revelation telling the wise to calculate the number of the beast, and I thought I should bring this up:

Revelation 13:18
"This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666." [NIV]

Some believe that the book of Revelation was a thinly veiled political statement against the emperor Nero, and that John was actually lambasting the persecution of Christians in his own time, etc., and that John's reference to the beast and his number, 666, was pointing at Nero, whose name calculated using Gematria* totals 666.

"Gematria or gimatria (Hebrew: גימטריה‎, gēmaṭriyā) is a system of assigning numerical value to a word or phrase, in the belief that words or phrases with identical numerical values bear some relation to each other, or bear some relation to the number itself as it may apply to a person's age, the calendar year, or the like." -en.wikipedia.org...

Last year I was looking into CERN on Wikipedia and discovered the following:

"History
The convention establishing CERN was signed on 29 September 1954 by 11 countries in Western Europe.a[›][1] The acronym CERN originally stood, in French, for Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire (European Council for Nuclear Research), which was a provisional council for setting up the laboratory, established by 11 European governments in 1952. The acronym was retained for the new laboratory after the provisional council was dissolved, even though the name changed to the current Organisation Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in 1954.[4] According to Lew Kowarski, a former director of CERN, when the name was changed, the acronym could have become the awkward OERN, and Heisenberg said that the acronym could "still be CERN even if the name is [not]".[citation needed]

Soon after its establishment, the work at the laboratory went beyond the study of the atomic nucleus, into higher-energy physics, an activity which is mainly concerned with the study of interactions between particles. Therefore the laboratory operated by CERN is commonly referred to as the European laboratory for particle physics (Laboratoire européen pour la physique des particules) which better describes the current research being performed at CERN." -

en.wikipedia.org...

Notice that the original acronym for "CERN" was "OERN", an anagram for "NERO", and that NERO adds up to 666 using Gematria.

Spooky (Mulder), or what?

I'm sorry, but I just don't see a 666 in that logo.
I see it quite clearly as 66666.

You can scroll up to see the entire post I took this from if your'e interested in Gematria and the history of CERN's name.

The harlot that rides the beast? This is a novel interpretation requiring more input. Interesting idea, worth of further discussion.

From an article on CERN...

Changes in public sentiment also prompt changes in
names.

In the late 1940s a collaboration of seven European
nations created the great particle physics laboratory
called CERN (pronounced "SURN"), near Geneva, CERN being
the French acronym for European Center for Nuclear
Research. But by the 1980s the word "nuclear" had
acquired such unpleasant associations for opponents of
nuclear weapons and power plants that nuclear was
dropped from the laboratory name, which became "European
Laboratory for Particle Physics."

Nevertheless the laboratory is still universally called
CERN, even though the acronym, is now meaningless.

Virtually all major international meetings of physicists
are conducted in English, which is very convenient for
scientists whose native tongue that is. But at last
week's meeting, participants included physicists from
Japan, Germany, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal,
Hungary, Korea and India. Some spoke excellent English
but others were barely comprehensible and their
conference presentations were hardly understood.

Language problems at meetings like this are often
exacerbated by poorly prepared exhibits. Physicists
commonly illustrate their technical talks with diagrams,
graphs and tables scrawled on transparencies that are
projected on a screen. But the equations and words
crammed into these transparencies, usually prepared in
haste, are often so small and messy that only audience
members with binoculars can read them.

"You can always tell which speakers are professors and
which are graduate students," said Maurice Goldhaber,
former director of the Brookhaven National Laboratory in
Long Island. "The professors know that it isn't enough
to understand your own experiment. You must be able to
make it intelligible to an audience."

Making particle physics generally accessible even to
particle physicists poses a growing challenge.

"The field of neutrino physics is growing so fast that
the work of one physicist is no longer necessarily
understood by a scientist working in some other branch
of the same field," said David Caldwell of the
University of California at Santa Barbara.

Commented another physicist, "It's time to bring some
coherence to the language of a field that might become a
kind of Tower of Babel."

Check out the last sentence???

That location is nowhere near CERN. Good try though.

Unless it's already happened and we're in a time loop. Like in the movie "Slipstream" starring Sean Astin. Not a great movie, but interesting nevertheless.

Seem's like everytime we try to figure out God, via science or man's wisdom, he come's along and straighten's us out, just saying, whether ya believe or not, doesn't matter, if ya think it was a work of fiction, there's still reference's to what happen's when we try to supersede God. Yes, it's very interesting, and in time we'll either be remember for this thread or forgotten, all in all a good read, and ride....

Yeah, I'd like to second this. Being accountable and admitting when one may be wrong is what makes all this debating and conjecture relevant. Good on ya.

Anyone remember the older sayings that the number of the beast 666 transalated to WWW i.e the internet?
And we all know the CERN guys created the internet, and now the CERN guys are gonna run their little machine at the end of 2012.
Perhaps this time its not armageddon, and quite the opposite, without turning this into a religeous debate, what if this is the break-out from the church's original ideal of control and manipulation? what if "the beast" was a firewall in their ideology?

What's interesting in the CERN logo is that there are 3 long lines that extend all out to the edge of the logo. It's clearly 666 with a few short lines thrown in to confuse us.
