I think the reporters were fairly excited to hear something from a guy who has actually walked on another planet.
They wanted some first hand accounts of alien evedence. Mainly, "What did he see on the moon?"
The reality is these reporters don't know any more than the average guy and were fairly dissapointed when he told them he didn't see anything.

Me too.

It sounded like he backed way off from his first interview.
The riddicule must have gotten to him.

just read that Edgar Mitchell was a consultant to the X-Files show.

Could this be promotion for the movie?

I doubt that very much, the new X Files movie is about humans kidnapping humans for organ transplant purposes, not quite the same as Ufos

this is a joke. a bad one.

it is well known fact, that Fox is braiwashing mass media BS , but
just one example:

www.fair.org...
´´
June 22, 2004

The Bush administration's long-running attempts to link Iraq and Al Qaeda were dealt a serious blow when the September 11 commission's June 16 interim report indicated that there did not appear to be a "collaborative relationship" between Iraq and Osama bin Laden, and that there was no evidence that Iraq was involved in the September 11 attacks.

But if you were watching the Fox News Channel , you saw something very different, as the conservative cable network eagerly defended the Bush administration and criticized the rest of the media for mishandling the story.´´

cheers

It is absolutely disgusting how Dr. Mitchell was handled on Fox and Friends. It was sickening to see this man handled like a joke by the three knuckleheads. I am so angry right now, seriously. I can understand the ‘wink-wink’ approach to ordinary citizens making extraordinary claims, but this man walked on the freaking Moon. They spoke to him like he was a child looking for attention. Disgusting. This is not disclosure, this is an embarrassment, and Fox news should be ashamed of themselves. How about interviewing this national hero who by the way is simply recounting stories told to him, with a little respect.

Let Angelina Jolie come on the show and they would be treating her like a dignitary. These vapid, brainless twits are more concerned with the MTV Movie awards then they are investigating some of mankind’s greatest mysteries. What a disgrace! Absolute idiocy. “Here you go America, let’s make fun of a national hero! It will help our ratings and make us feel secure in our own existence”. Oh man am I hot right now!

Edgar Mitchell has a Ph.D. in astronautics and aeronautics, and he shares the record for longest moonwalk with Alan Shepard. The man is certainly no dummy. I see no motive behind a man of his stature risking his reputation by making up outrageous stories.

As if you're going to get the truth from CNN, MSNBC, or any other media outlet. I watch Fox News because I want to know what the PTB want me to think. I take nothing as gospel, from anyone. I infrequently watch CNN because to come to a somewhat "informed" decision or conclusion, you need both sides of the equation. Hopefully the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Many times the truth is no where to be found on any media outlet. That's one reason why there is an ATS!!!

Regarding Fox's treatment of Dr. Mitchell, do you really think he would have been treated better on CNN or MSNBC. How about Katy Couric on CBS.

You got to give the audience some credit. Fox and Friends is a fluff piece and most viewers know it. Rest assured the audience was paying attention to his comments and the hosts "behavior" as well. The American people do not like it when our heroes are belittled by airheads, regardless of the cable network.

Exposure is the name of this game and we should be happy that he received any notice other than a one day article on Drudge.

And kudos to the ATS member that emailed Dr. Mitchell and invited him to share his views with us. We need more of this. Maybe we'll get lucky

Thanks for the tip. I hope he reiterates what he said in the earlier Fox interview - that he inquired with contacts at the Pentagon and had it confirmed by a high ranking intelligence officer within the joint chiefs of staff.

I think this may have been the first interview in his recent "tour"...

Moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell Claims Alien Contact Cover-up
Edgar Mitchell UFO interview on Kerrang Radio 23 july 2008

Claims first hand knowledge alien existence and of a cover up. Is this really anything new? He spoke about some of this in Out of the Blue... but maybe not as specifically. The difference is now he isn't hedging at all, he's claiming direct knowledge of aliens.

And here is the companion broadcast The phone call to NASA asking about Mr. Mitchell's 'disclosures'. And NASA's response.

Much, much thanks for the info. I'll be interested to see if he backs off on his statements, i.e. explaining what he 'really' meant. Or if he carefully chooses his words and elaborates further on his disclosures. I'm betting on the latter for some reason I can't explain. I'm sure wishful thinking has something to do with it but it just 'feels' like that's what's going to happen. It just seems like the right time.

I saw an episode of Hannity's America tonight. If it's the same thing we're talking about, it wasn't an actual interview between Hannity and Mitchell. It appeared like they used clips from his earlier Fox appearance. It was part of the show's running "conspiracy segment". The actual piece, while light on information, was fairly neutral on the subject on the subject of aliens and UFOs.

They basically said a lot of people see weird things. Edgar Mitchell and Gordon Cooper, both astronauts and scientists, believe aliens are visiting. And the Roswell PAO Lt Haut released a post-death confession that it was real.

But what absolutely killed it, and I believe it was intentional, is they did a 5 minute segment on "Is Elvis Still Alive" immediately preceding the part about Mitchell's recent statements ! Does that not have the telltale mark of a govt dis-info campaign ? The implication being they are equally valid "conspiracy theories".

I have no doubt whoever produced the show was instructed to throw in that garbage about Elvis to counter Mitchell's recent UFO/alien statements.

Well I believe the PTB are orchestrating the whole thing and part of the agenda is to have the news media indicate the phenomena may be real one minute and then ridicule it the next. I'm hoping to start seeing a pattern develope where the indications that it's real out weigh the ridicule. Then the tide will have turned.

with all the news coverage that this has gotten, i kind of now understand why Neil Armstrong refuses to deal with the media. He avoids it like the plague.

I concur 100 per cent.

Dr Mitchell has everything to lose, and nothing to gain. I would find it incredible that a man of his stature would risk everything to come up with fantastical stories.

Most average people have no clue about the technology the governments have, so once they are used against them of course they will assume that it's Alien.
Of course you are correct, but my question is, why don't people believe the Governments technology, is decades further ahead than what we see now?

Could it be that the population in general, doesn't want the worry about the future, and that they live in their own perfect little world?

Still, I applaud Dr. Mitchell, even though few are listening.
