And why the hell do you care if he smoked marijuana in his past? Lets see, he smoked marijuana and did drugs so now he is so unfit to become our president... well wake up buddy. The reason why we have programs like dare and people fear marijuana is because of lies and propaganda fed to the American public. Take a look at the rest of the world... do you ever wonder why in various parts of Europe and Africa it is part of their culture? Hmmmm maybe because it is so benign that it doesnt need to be criminalized like it is in america. If I had a dollar for each time someone told me they drink but dont smoke marijuana because its bad for you... id be a rich man. If you research for 5 minutes on this substance you can open your eyes. I know plenty of successful people who smoke marijuana. The reason I myself have to hide is because of misinformed people like you who dont want to change the old ways of America. Well this is a different world than it was 100 years ago, 50 years ago, and even in the past 10 years. Why hold on to such things like this when it only causes troubles for so many Americans. Just open your eyes man to the truth. Now I havent researched Barack or Mccain yet but from what I have heard it sounds like anyone who is going to run for president of this country is going to lie and butter up the people the best they can until they are in office. We just gotta pray that the guy in charge isnt going to abuse his powers. (ie watergate/iran contras-sandinistas etc. ). Just all I'm trying to say is that you need to open your eyes a bit more on this subject instead of shooting him down because he smoked pot.

1.ok well sure Obama does deserve another chance because yes a was young when he took the drugs thats perfectly fair.

The popularity is in the media, not the people as a whole. Unfortunately, we have a large majority of people who allow the media to tell them who to love, what to think and who to vote for, Obama just happens to be the "flavor of the month". Why don't you hear about the other candidates? Because the media likes Obama, so Obama is all you hear. I don't love Obama and am quite fearful of anyone running under the promise of MORE government programs to solve our woes when a SMARTER government can do so much more.

The average American person knows that you cannot spend what you do not have, yet our government officials do it all the time and Americans are voting them into office knowing that it is all hype and no official has ever kept their promise to the point of being fruitful. Whenever I hear about what presidential hopefuls are planning to do with all these "government" funded programs, I am stunned. That is MY money I want to scream at them and I do not approve of the careless way they banty it about. Not one of them know enough about economics to plan budgets of that kind of magnitude. It is scary to think that Americans buy into their promises and I am among the few Americans that can see a false promise when I see one. Obama can't get anything past congress if it means the congressmen will have to give up some of their cushy possessions. The only way Obama can make things happen is to take away from the middle again, just like all his predecessors.

Not to mention, we seem to have developed into a nation that is losing it's morality base. Drugs, adultery, and other petty crimes, for most of the new generation of voters, just does not seem to have as big of an impact as it once did. Admitting to a petty crime in one's youth can actually boost a politicians career, by invoking and "Honest Abe" similarity. "Folks, I cannot tell lie...."

The people who want Obama's "change" all assume it will be for the better - When he finally comes up with some semblance of a plan to facilitate his "change" people will realize that change is not always 'good' for all those involved.

Obama's popular because people who like him focus on the good things about him unlike the OP.

Plus Obama looks like he's alive where Mccain looks like he's a zombie.

Mccain probably died as a POW, but Republicans probably raised him from the dead using voodoo or what not.

Mccain fits the Anti-Christ role more because he's the only one who looks like he just was raised from the dead.lol

the media covers him because he does NEWSWORTHY things. he is exciting, and people want to hear him.

John McCain can't get through one speech without at least 3 major gaffes.

and he's so boring he did a really boring, lame, and underpopulated appearance in the Cheese Aisle at a grocery store while Obama spoke to 200,000 berliners.
