I think everybody wants to feel some sense of community...

i guess this is a natural human necessity
everybody wants this and therefore everybody is working hard to be part of such a community!

but being part of such a community shouldn.t mean to profile oneself - i don.t mean that you are doing this! - it is as you mentioned to debate, to interact, to realize the mutuality, about the differences, and to learn!
learn to listen and to form thoughts and opinions – but when learning 1st thing i found out is no opinion could be the ultimate truth!
this can be wonderfully detected on ATS

As for the ""You don't have to justify your self posts''
Thankyou for those too....but as you can see..this is a site for debate(i know that)
What would be the point of not debating?
Sure some peoples opinions do stick in my craw...
But you have to review them so you can review yourself...
I think that is the point of a debate right?

totally agreed!
while debating i am expressing myself, and this expressing helps to find out what is really on my mind
to reclassify what i experienced, what i saw, what i have learnt

but when debating it doesn.t count what kind of person we are
neither the color of skin, nor the profession or anything else!

only our thoughts and way of communicating are important!

but nevertheless selfreflection ain.t very popular these days.
so thank you sir, for this objection

so lets look forward to fruitful debates - as it used to be on the fora of ancient rome, where people debated on marketplaces

wow...a lot happened here the last couple of hours....

ats is indeed about debating,
debating leads to selfreflection and selfreflection leads to self-knowledge.

no matter which kind of topic we are discussing and no matter who takes part in it - we challenge us and that is great.

I guess i'm too late, as chris/rob seems to have left the building. I was just thinking, maybe offtopic, as the thread is about how celebrities influence ufology, not about how ufology influences the celebrities, but anyways, just curious:

Is "Viva Life on Mars" somehow influenced by ats or other forums like that? "We're knee deep in information
And they can't stop this conversation"

I don't know why i have this impression, but whenever i hear it i always think of ats
Oh and it's a cool song, by the way.

the truth maybe out there but the lies are in your head!

Brilliant....we lie to ourselves all the time...mostly with negative stuff
that we tell ourseleves about ourselves....Most of it nonsense that we learnt when we were kids...

that tag line really helped me.....so thanks

Don't thank me, thank Terry Pratchett, i kinda stole it from him.

Yeah, it is so true. But hey, i think we're going places... There are still enough people in the world to question and think for themselves, so there is hope!

And there are also enough people, it seems, to spread the word. Did you see the thread about Nas? I'm not the biggest hip hop fan, but that was cool! Talking about celebrities and ufos...

All the talk of 99 Luft Balloons got me thinking about other artists that reference interests in this subject in their music and I was reminded of "World Hold On" by Bob Sinclair.

"World hold on
come on
Everybody in the universe
One day you will have to answer to the children of the sky"

This is a favorite song of mine and the message seems to be related.
I will have to do a bit of research and see what I can find out about the artist and whether or not his lyrics reflects an interest in the subject matter here.

REPLY TO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL AND CHRISONABIKE

interesting
i wll take it right back to simple terms druids
a time when everything was simple it was just what it was a time when they got their insight and insperation from within and from there surroundings an few intersting links

www.druidry.org..." target="_blank" class="postlink">

a time when the calender was named after trees so 13 months in the year
The concepts of the Celtic Calendar are fairly simple. The year is divided equally into 13 months, one for each cycle of the moon. Each moon cycle is associated wwww.everything2.com... a sacred tree, a magikal aspect and letter from the Celtic runes. The runes or the Ogham, are a secret shamanic alphabet, the origin of which is accredited to Oghma, the Celtic God of Poetry."

or maybe its just got something to do with this guy

oh btw..i would never dare to speak on behalf of the community
To be honest i don't really know what they think or who they are...
I do know how to speak on behalf of me...which is what im doing
I want to be part OF this "Community'' but i dont have enough information or knowledge on the subject to speak for anybody other than myself...

As to what other people ''think'' about this thread is exactly that ....their ''Thoughts''...
now you can either choose to engage and debate these people or not....

To be honest i quite enjoy the odd bit of negativity...its fun
dissecting it and trying to understand where people are coming from....

Here's the deal... i think my AIM is true...just like most people here
but iam open to offers that it might not be...

Beacuse.....

i've been wrong before.....
