He was just on Fox and Friends and really seemed to back off his statements. He started attributing a lot of what he said to "lore" and backed off ever seeing or hearing anything. He kept basing it on "lore".

Perhaps some people are now threatening him?

I understand that many of you believe strongly in the existence of aliens and truly believe that that Mitchell is telling the truth. I don't, but that’s of no consequence.

I don't really want to rain on your parade.

It just seems humorous to me that many here on ATS seem to think that the credibility of Mitchells story is somehow related to the number of times it appears in the media. It's almost like, "Wow! He was on Larry King! It must be true!".

It still goes back to the fact that he offered only hearsay, rumors, and 2nd hand stories. By his own admission he has not seen any aliens. Why is he willing to believe a massive Government conspiracy based only on 2nd hand information?

Sorry if my feeble attempts at humor offended any of you or your belief systems.

It just seems to me that Mitchell is being given a free ride and not req'd to face the heat of honest skepticism.

sounds like it, by him taking his own words back is proof enough, i mean why would you say something so revealing then all of a sudden retract your statements? obviously someone high up has had a word to him.

and thanks for the liveleak link 'kinda kurious' been wanting to listen to that interview. Interesting indeed.

At first I thought there might be some truth, but his appearance on Fox and Friends this morning pretty much destroyed that. He completely backed off almost everything he said, attributing his belief to the "lore" surrounding aliens and UFOs.

Nope, him recanting does not mean his former statement was wrong. It could mean that but it is just as plausible that it means someone is pressuring him to back down and to not shed light on this issue. Given the history of ufology, and my own personal experiences, I would bet on the latter.

This is not over yet.

I would frown upon this myself if people think like that. So I totally agree with you on this one.

True. I'm interested why he made those claims in the first place. I mean I wouldn't touch the subject with a ten foot pole because of the smear and the ridicule, especially if I was a respected astronaut and scientist. But Mitchell seems to care more about his claims then about his credibility in the future. Why risk all this just to play a hoax?

Sorry if my feeble attempts at humor offended any of you or your belief systems.

No offence taken but I was under the impression that you were just ridiculing the subject and at the same time offering no explanation whatsoever. But I seems I was mistaken.

It is kinda a big deal actually. Some people make a living off of selling people books about aliens. If you're retired, and former air force or astronaut you can easily make some extra poker money selling books about aliens. Everyone will take your word for it. I don't see why everyone assumes former pilots and astronauts aren't capable of lying.

Your whole reasoning here is based on assumption. You could be right, but then again you could be wrong. I could be wrong to in my earlier assumptions.

This reminds me of how some stage introductions are made along with loud applause and cheering while waiting for the person to enter on to the stage.........and then nothing.

I suppose NASA is the star who decided not to bother showing? A tleast Mitchell sounds like he has his wits about him and isn't senile.

Are we assuming that just becasue he's on a foreign station saying this that he'll be the same in the U.S.? Someone else has the ball....not Mitchell. I would call this a false run with no other takers.

I wouldn't suppose Bush will anounce a disclosure before the end of office to appease the public to be remembered by?

Than he will most likely pardon most of the government agencies for all previous activities?

Is Mitchell a threat to national security? Not likely, he doesn't have any hard evidence just as those others from the disclosure project.

Most people here aren't satisfied with a wink and a nod. They want the grand tour.

Damn!!... I forgot to put a possible recantation in my predictions on page 4 of this thread!

Sounds to me like the man is now getting pressure put on him. To be expected I guess.

As per my usual these days, garden so big, I am just jumping
on for a minute because of 'this' thread...

Edgar, please respond to us here, I know that you would be reading this thread in its entirety.

My question to you is will you please consider doing an interview with ATSmix in the near future?

We here at ATS will have some of the most well thought out questions for you and will help keep a healthy measure of groundedness to the interview as well as spreading your informative answers to a wide and varied audience.

I simply applaude you for this heroic step towards moving forward in truth and light. You will need as much public support as can be in order to remain, safe.

Thankyou and please consider this request. I will reserve my best questions for your interview.

I knew this was going to happen all the hype taking UFO investigators right back to square one. I've been reading on this stuff since 1967 and its exactly the same now as it was then. There will be an amazing story that comes out that makes people "into UFOS" go -man oh man !! ..then it will take you down a path of confusion and leave you in the middle of nowhere. With more questions than answers.

John Keel warned everyone that studies UFOS that it can drive you mad.. if you let it. Its all a "hall of mirrors" and reflections of many Ideas and mysteries.

I know but the retards at Fox News made an error in the front page article and said he knows NASA is covering it up...that was read by thousands of people.

New Discovery interview. It clears some things up. Edgar is still a hero in my book. To those of you who say Edgar is backing off........you're wrong

That's because John Lear doesn't have a tenth of the credibility that Edgar Mitchell is supposed to have. A lot more people would listen to Edgar Mitchell than John Lear because he is an astronaut and because he has walked on the moon. That's how it is.
