I'm only 30 years old, and in the short time between me being a fun loving kid and my current status of pissed off adult, I have noticed exactly how ridiculous America is/has become.

We live in a country where....

We are shown basically real time bombing campaigns on TV, but people go nuts if a nipple makes an appearance.

Where they bleep out words like "drugs" and "heroin" on radio stations.

Freedom is nothing more than an illusion. Think you're free? Think again.

People are arrested and sent to prison for a very long time for committing victimless crimes.

People are arrested for possession of a certain substance that government agencies have been caught transporting

Lots of feeble minded twist like to carry on about how "free" they are. These people must not pay attention to what happens if they forget to pay their property taxes. In a truly free nation, the government couldn't come take your house.

We live in a nation where elected first time politicians go to DC and are worth maybe a few hundred grand, but when they leave office, they are worth millions.

Lets be honest here, most people in the U.S. are just plain stupid. They naively believe their "freedoms" and "rights" trump everyone elses. If they see/hear/read something they disagree with, they don't just ignore it, they cry out for it to be banned.

They allow more of our liberty to be taken away, usually in the name of "protecting the children". They allow more of our money to be stolen from us by government in the name of "being compassionate".

They allow the government to infringe on more and more of our rights in the name of "fighting terror", yet they continue to allow the jackasses in DC to leave our borders wide open. Yea, very effective "war" strategy there, leave your front door wide open.

I could go on and on, but I think this might give the gist of the sad state this nation is in.

Nuclear obliteration couldn't really damage us any more, who knows, it might be just the thing we need to start over. I wouldn't be opposed to it.

slackerwire, you certainly did get to the gist of it and as much as it pains me to admit it I do believe you are correct. I'm amazed daily at just how clever this war on terror has been in making Americans more than willing to give up their freedoms for protection. What they don't seem to understand is that we are now being treated as if we are terrorists. I will not be subjected to personal search in order to fly, attend sporting events, etc. ever again. I am a middle-aged American woman who will not be unnecessarily harrassed in order to be protected. I'll stay home, and if the day ever comes that I am harrassed in my own home I am prepared to defend myself come what may.

certainly i hear your frustration. i am 31 and have discussed these kind of things w/ friends of my age range. seems like the world kind of changed over night when really it was our perspective. we used to look at the world around us through our innocence, then through our naiveness, and then it switched into actually SEEING IT.

i have decided that i need a new perspective to see it from so that my life doens't become one of hate and bitterness. thus, i started searching for wisdom and somewhere in that search, i started seeing things going on through love. not mushy yucky boy meets girl and wants to lay w/ girl kind of love; not humanistic, everyone join hands and sing 'kum ba ya' kind of love; a different kind of love. a love i have no words for yet. one that SEES everything you said and instead of feeling angry at all the things you mentioned, feels a connection w/ you in regards to these things going on.

there is nothing i can personally do to change these things other than speak out against them. other than that, i make sure that MY life isn't a joke. life in america in general may very well be, but my life and the lives of those that touch mine, and YOUR life certainly are no joke.

*oh.... starred and flagged bc i have been feeling like posting much the same thing that you did. very well said, btw

So I guess your looking for a country where it is perfectly legal to run around naked, abuse drugs, get housing for free, and never have to worry about people disagreeing with you?

I guess it could have its advantages??? Good luck finding that place though.

Hi Slacker,

Interesting post.

They allow more of our liberty to be taken away

Such as?

They allow the government to infringe on more and more of our rights in the name of "fighting terror",

Such as?

I ask these questions for clarification. I for one do not know of a personal freedom or liberty that has been stripped away by our Government.

I sometimes get the feeling people regurgitate media sound bites in order to seem well informed.

My final question to you would be; Is there a country you think is more of a model for what you seek as one of it's citizens?

Oh yeah, so you have seen the reality of adulthood and don't like it.

WELL GUESS WHAT? NO BODY ELSE DOES EITHER!

Oh, sorry about yelling. I'm forty and I think I have ten more years of rage and discust on you.

The tabooness if that is a word about sexuality in America is so rediculous. It's so different in other countries. I live in an area that so many people from different countries live.

I study body language and see that we are very sexually uptight and I bet that is why we top the sexual crime rate in the world.

If the government and church would loosen up a little we would reduce the sexual frustration in the states. I've said my peace and I'm gonna go watch some porn before my girlfriend comes home and beats me for God only knows why.

This great country is what you make of it my friend. If you want change make change. Get an education and a job and that will change your circumstances - I've seen it. Don't like the politics? Get out and vote.
This is the freedom land. If you aren't lazy, you truly have the opportunity too prosper. Higher education and a good honest job, that's the ticket to freedom.
Thanks,
Vance

Yeah I here that all the time. Get an education and get a job. Make something of yourself to be happy.

Ok, unless you are born into money and your parents are paying tuition then you have to get grants which is about 5 percent change right now. Getting a student loan is signing your life away. You end up paying ten times the amount due to inflation and interest rates fluctuating during your life. Not to mention all the late penalties because you are struggling at the beginning of your carrer.

It cracks me up when people say something that is "Easier Said Than Done!"

Giving personal advice or psychological advice online is very bad because you don't have the time to fully assess the individuals situation and you more than likley have no idea what you are talking about you are just trying to impress others.

Guess what, America is set up for you to be in debt for life and that makes it almost impossible to live.

Who said anything about getting housing for free?

People are free to disagree all they want, but the moment they attempt to stifle something they disagree with is where my problem begins.

Money isn't a problem for me, nor is getting a job. I own my own business.

There are more important things than employment and cash however, freedom being one of them.

wow. there are a couple of reactions here that kind of seem unnecessary, although you are certainly free, thank the good lord and the folks who run ats, to post it.

i see his post as a venting of sorts. not something that should be taken and thrown back into his face. he is making observations and reacting to those observations.. certainly not anything to get upset about, right?

i find this kind of thread (ranting about life in america) much easier to take since it comes from another person INSIDE america. the venting that i do find frustrating is the venting about america by those who don't reside in it.

anyway, point is, i see a vent here worthy of being acknowledged by those who can relate, but not trashed by those who can't. just my opinion

No property tax.

No laws criminalizing ingestion of certain substances.

No people complaining about seeing a human body.

There's plenty of uninhabited islands where this would be possible.

ever notice how capitalism was encourage to prevent monopolies? But in the end it helped created them due to lack of properly keeping up with the times... ''

I see all the companies that ive seen before, either staying the same or merging to change their name so they seem fresh or new.. when in fact its just the same companies you've bought from in the beginning.

Its the money game, its the reason we seem to run into a stalemate... The only sector that is cranking out new companies is the It an sales sector... and I mean software, hardware, or trivial items like toys or left handed paint brushes...

but not Tvs, Cars, Energy, Banking, communication, I tend to keep seeing the same old companies running their game... like it was their corner...

An companies I see trying to stand up to them an offer discounted prices always seems to fail.

Almost nothing is set up to run for the people to benefit, even welfare is becoming a joke.

An the Work Hard an Get a good job an goto school, you guys havent been applying for jobs lately huh? Theirs Degreed People combating with High school drops outs and grads alike for jobs now... Low end jobs mind you. And alot of people aren't hiring the Degreed folks for wary that they wont stay for long since they have good recommendations....

Its gonna fall apart sooner or later... Key to a countries survival is the welfare of its people. When the welfare of its people is neglected an ugly chain of events will occur that will unravel that country to its core....

More America bashing.I know enough people from the US that will argue with you and win rather easily. There is no threat of govt towards americans. There is a threat of radical Islam and extremists period.Whether they are religious ,ideological or political. They can be communists(political),athiests(ideological) or radical islamists or desert islamists(religious).Religious radicals can also be Christian, jewish ,Buddist (think of those who set themselves on fire during the Vietnam war),or Hindu(ghandis assasins).Jewish-i believe Rabin was assasinated by an extremist israeli settler if im not mistaken.
War is upon us and has been since sept 11 2001.I also believe this to be world war 3 since it encompasses the entire globe.Say what you want about the CIA ,FBI or the US govt ,it all falls on deaf ears here until this war is won.Islamic extremists estimate they can have control of America by 2020.I know americans wont stand for that, i know i wont.Ironically an article fowarded by blacklisted news to me about martial law in the US being implemented says the EXACT same year.
I now know that there is definetly a propaganda war being waged by Americas enemies within the US and outside of it.
I repeat my call to patriots in the West to stand your ground and DO NOT be overrun by extremists who hide behind our laws and goodwill.Stay alert and stay vigilant against these extremists and we will win by defeating the hatred and confusion they have spread within our societies.Use your mind and it will become clear for you.Dont take some one elses word for happenings elsewhere.
Our countries and govts are in a pitched battle for supremacy of the world we will not fail.Better to be a capitalist democracy or republic ,than a theocratic tyranny.
Question everything including websites you visit and be suspicious of those which encourage rebellion, hate and generally make you feel uneasy.Use your instincts.I used mine and thats how i came up with the America we stand united post.
The West stand United against world terrorism on the web and in the real world.

Slackerwire,

We've certainly had some differences, but I believe they end at Blackwater, because I sure hear you on this brother!

Seems you've gotten quite a few replies from people who haven't read things like the Patriot Act or NSPD-51. After a statement such as yours, you're surely going to get barraged by the "what freedoms have you lost" crowd. These people simply don't understand that it's not so cut and dry as "now you have it, now you don't". It's the power to take them away when and how they please that our government has been so relentlessly pursuing (and obtaining). To these people I only say two things: 1, investigate the "rights" that people labeled "terrorists" have. 2, investigate the federal governments definition of a terrorist. With enough thought, any one of us could be deemed "terrorists" by their definition.

Not to turn this into an education thread, but I am so tired of seeing this stuff. Its simply not true. You can go to college for free if your a good student - at most state universities you don't even have to be that good either. Yes, its going to take time studying to get good grades and time to apply for those full ride scholarships - but no one said you didn't have to work for it if you want it free. Want to go to a school beyond your abilities or do poorly? Then your going to pay for it. And you should.
