Hi Oh this is a hoax. I saw this a while back and so sorry just cant think of the name of it. I know its a hoax as at the end they had end credits which showed the actors real names with the screen names. It one of those videos I believe that was a bit like blair witch as in they made it look like it was based on truth when it fact it wasnt. Still I enjoyed the video and will be back if I remember the name of the video

First, thanks, NOBody, for the whole video. I guess you know your thread was transferred over here. I've never seen the whole thing. I'm watching it now for the second time.

First, I think that the little girl, Rosie, is the weak link in the video. With all these adults packing shotguns, yelling, hysterical, she doesn't respond in a manner that I think is consistent with a child of her age.

Next, the significant others of the guys that see the aliens...... they are disbelieving..... "let's just sit down and have dinner".... I donno... that just doesn't seem right. I can't recall a single girlfriend in my years that wouldn't have been profoundly alarmed if I had been scared crapless.

The Mom, always showing us that she's drinking... and then staying with the apparent disassociation in the midst of the terror, sweeping up. Did nobody think to try the phones, see if they could call the police?

Then, the fried truck wiring. "Get the tractor batteries." Yeah? You think it'll work with all the wiring smoking in the truck engine?

Everyone's watch stopped. classic. Junior peed his pants, but keeps filming. What a trouper. Good thing the shotgun was already rigged with a flashlight. A rifle, I'd think, yeah, they've been torching, probably poaching deer, but a shotgun? whoof.

I gottasay, if this is scripted, and my intuitions say probably, they're pretty darned good. VERY good, even lil' Rosie.

It doesn't scream "FAKE" to me, but it does have some problems, IMO. Okay, here's one of the big ones, at least for me. Older brother racks the shotgun TWICE before he shoots. Once just prior to shooting, and once about two minuites prior. Man, if I was that jacked up, I'd have chambered a shell the milisecond I picked up the shotgun, and I'd have grabbed extra shells. Not saying that that would necessarily be my mindset, but IF it had been.......

First view of alien....... pretty good. Not an obvious mask, although it is dark with varigated light.

EEEK! The nosebleeds! hmmmm. All of them seem to stop somewhat quickly.

The family separates. Junior keeps filming, not tagging along. ugh

Even after the power comes back on, do they leap to the phone?

Now..... if they're all really still missing, that lends weight.


Good find. I lean toward a scripted production. It's pretty damned good though, if so.

Oh crap, and there you go. Dick Clark productions. Cast, special effects, etc. etc. Okay, well at least I got to sharpen my observational skills. I wish I could tell you I was 100% convinced it was all a hoax at the time I watched it.... but that would be fibbing.

I have yet to see the directors site linked or a place where you can buy the video because I would buy the original in a heartbeat just to see it.

Ya I posted that a few pages back. It is the most I have found of an older version as well.

I still see people going on about the 97 remake as if its a fake hoax.
It was never presented as anything but a proper movie..no hoax if no claims to reality are made.

I too screamed hoax. In the first two minutes you can tell. The zoom on the camera is way too smooth for a house-hold commercial camera of that era.
Also it was distributed by a now retired hacker known as the "Owl". Who originally ripped the video from a VHS copy meaning it was probably at one time sold commercially.

Nevertheless, I posted it.

Yes. Its very annoying.
The real one is pretty much non-existent.
Its rumored that Alioto lost the original printmaster (master tape for production) in a warehouse fire.

Its pretty obvious that the 97 version is not real, the acting is absolutely shameful.

The clips of the older movie that I have seen were pretty damn good in my opinion. The family seemed like they were really scared, the acting (or lack thereof) was excellent. It just seemed like it wasn't set up. Then again, no one that I know of has ever seen the full original.

funny no one remembers this but this video was actually first shown on the channel "UPN" about 8 years ago. i remember watching it when i was in 8th grade and having the crap scared out of me. haha by the way i'm derek and i'm new to this website.

not just the acting the dialogue is deplorable. Whoever wrote the screenplay for the 2nd version ought to be drawn and quartered. OK maybe not quartered but drawn at least.

Even the most amateurs actors are only as good as the lines they are given if the dialogue sucks.. its going to suck. no way around it.

read the front page all the way down till you get to the end, where he posts his email in a red link,it explains it all. At the last paragraph of the story about the two tapes, and the building fire, ect, there is a RED email link to the Director /Producer.

You can contact him to get a copy of the ORIGINAL TAPE, which is also a Hoax mind you, he admits it. But if you wanna see it that bad, I'm sure he'll mail you a 5th gen VCR copy for $20 or something, dunno you'd have to email him.
