I have to say that it is in bad taste to be showing these pictures without asking for permission from the person to do so, and I think you should state that in the title of the post, that the pics are not yours. Treat others as you would be treated. The poor guy/girl has already been judged without defense, not cool. That being said, I would have to say that the contraption will probably end up being some sort of "hoop house" (greenhouse), for horticulture. Peace

OK?

It's some plumbing hardware not some lady stripping naked in a window!

Get a grip man.

Anyway I was thinking also horticulture
something to do with it anyway.

Its on a shed in the garden a couple of houses from a friends place. It's been there for years. The House seems to be empty and the owner seems to be as mysterious as the contraption. There is nobody to go up and talk to. Although some people say to have seen a well over middle aged and a bit weird man

It makes no sound or movement, never did. There is no smell of p/e. Marihuana etc.

Here is (what I hope to be) a bigger picture.

I have to find out how that works before I can answer that. I doesn't look like it. The little antenna like things are strange indeed. I am trying to get information from technicians

How do youknow I did not ask?!.

S your remark is a bit off target. I first asked the maker of the photo's if she would like me to post them on ATS and she liked the idea. She is hoping she will get some results.
Or are you talking about the "scientist" that puts these things on his roof?
The apparatus is not placed in a private place. Normally one would have to get a permit before putting any industrial device on a roof.
There are a lot of people just meters away from that thing. So if it is dangerous one should know.
Nobody is judging. Is is just an interesting riddle.

It could be the bgeginnings of a solar H/VAC system with a track to auto follow the sun, or..with the 4th of July coming up soon, ...What is the zoning in your area anyways..?

I don't know what all this is, but I would be checking the premises for a dungeon given the wierd stuff that goes on nowdays. Maybe your neighbor can make an anonymous call to whatever department enforces the building codes.

Is the neighbors last name Goldberg?.....as in Rube Goldberg?

Looks to me like a solar water heater minus the solar panel, which would go on the flat rack on the right. JMO.

Thats a pretty huge rack for solar panels. I have 2 4'-0 x 10'-0 panels on my roof and there is no need for a huge frame lke this.

A frame like this night be used to support a RTU (Roof Top Unit).
I've seen large condensor frames like this. The Square opening in the rack might be to frame in the Duct work. Still, Ive never seen a roof top condensor with weather vane and counterbalanced buckets.

Hence the soupkettles, I think that is not half bad.
The rack seems to be there to support something.

Haha me too, but let's build it up a little. This is a ATS test. We have so much brainpower here, we should be able to get this.
If my contact does not ask in a few days I will do it myself. Maybe we can Google Earth the address.

Garden hose + electricity= Nut Job or Felony enterprise. A 'well person visit' is in order either way.

Best case, the cops have to listen to a couple hours of worm holes and hyper galactic drives.....

So the man is doing something on his private property - I'm curious - let's call the cops!

Ass.

Looks like some sort of hodge podge weather station to me... Seeing the weathervane and the metal pots hanging there made me think of that. Also the metal tubes sort of remind me of pollen collectors. Could just be a guy who is super into meteorology.

Not positive, just throwing it out there, maybe utu OzWeatherman or something, he could tell you if it is that or not as he is a weather dude.

I'll agree with others though, your friend should just ask the guy, that's usually the best way to find out
It doesn't look too scary to me, just geeky. I highly doubt it's anything secret or dangerous since he's building it on the roof for all to see.

maybe he's just filtering his collected rainwater with UV light filters, as opposed to trying to do something nefarious.

why doesn't your paranoid friend go up to him and ASK him what it is?

but wait.. spy on your neighbor!!! what are they doing?? what's that CONTRAPTION that ALTERNATIVE WATER SOURCE DEVICE could be a weapon! get HIM!

freaking lemming like mentality.

ridiculous.

For an anonymous you are alright in my book.
Homemade weather station was my first thought.

Is it geeky? Yeah
Scary? No.
