Brilliant story. Thanks a lot for sharing. I was totaly captivated, no kidding. Are there more 'spiritual' members of your family? How far back does it go? My family has some interesting characters in it but nothing quite like yours. And I was also wondering while reading your post, does your mom work as a medium or is it something she just does, but not for gain? Cheers and be well.

PS; Thank you very much to whomever flagged this thread today. Much appreciated!

No problems. My wife is from a long line of receptive people, as is my mother. I've got some basic reception, smells, sounds, lights etc. I do wonder whats in store for my newborn as she will be decended from two receptive families!

Noone in my family is a medium by trade, we all hold down regular joe jobs. I dont think anyone wants the sort of hassle thats attached with that sort of career.

That being said, it can certainly make everyday life interesting. Some examples.

For 7 days all my wife and I could smell was smoke. Inside, outside, in the car, in the shower. Drove me insane until we found out that one of our friends was caught in a house fire on the other side of the country. He called us when he got out of hospital to let us know that something had happened and that he was alright.

I woke up one night to hear my wife speaking what sounded like American Indian in her sleep. Turns out after some investigation her ancestors were african american/cherokee and migrated to australia in the mid 1800's from California.

Thanks a lot for the updates, Gaderel. I always wonder about the 'past life' topic. I don't really believe in it but my mom got a reading a couple years ago and she really seemed to believe in the what she was told. She got a name and everything. She was going to research into it further and see if such a person existed when/where she was told. I never heard any more about it, though. I'll ask her about it if I can remember, this weekend. Cheers.

Me: Someone asked me what was the strangest experience I've ever had and do you remember one day when you were working out the front on the old green car and the jack collapsed?

My Father: The jack sunk in to the ground and the differential housing pressed down on my chest.

Me: Do you remember what happened?

My Father: I called out and I was there for a few seconds... Then, I think there were three or four of you who lifted the car up, and someone pulled me out by the legs.

Me: Someone pulled you out? If everyone was lifting the car, who pulled you out?

My Father: Hmmm... I don't know.

Me: I don't remember any spare people around to pull you out while we held the car up, I know I didn't pull you out, I was holding the car up. The way I remember it, you got out by yourself.

My Father: Well, someone grabbed me by the legs, at first anyway.

Me: OK, so I remember three of us were in the driveway, and you called out. We ran to the car and lifted it up.

My Father: And Julie B... was there.

Me: Really? I don't remember Julie being there, but when I think about it, maybe she was walking down the road. Maybe she pulled you out.

My Father: Hmmm.. not sure.

My Mother: There were some guys working across the road in front of M's place on the fence or the garden and I got angry at them for just standing there! They just stood there looking from across the road!

Me: Well, that's another thing: (to my mother) I don't remember you being there at all, and I don't really rememeber the three guys who did nothing, either. So there were three of us, four of us if you count Julie, and the car weighed?

My father: It was a 1961 EK Holden Special, bit over a ton.

Me:How did we lift it?

My father: I don't know. I don't know how you lifted it.

Me: I can tell you, it was light, it was easy to lift.

My father: Well, I don't know how.

This is a great thread. I have had lots of weird things happen over the years but 2 small incidents at the same place on the same beach come to mind. I used to play by myself at this deserted beach where extended family used to live. I was about 9 and it was a sunny hot day. I went down to the beach and was singing and dancing and twirling and watching my shadow swirl with me. Suddenly, my one shadow turned into 3. I stopped dancing and stared at the 3 shadows of me in the sand. Then ran all the way back absolutely terrified.

Another day, same place I was standing at the top of a sand dune looking at the waves crashing down. A new wave started to form and suddenly, there in the crest of the wave were 6 dolphins all in line right in front of me on this deserted beach.

Those aren't my scariest but kinda weird?

i was asleep in bed and my girlfriend woke me up. she said," wake up, what is that, what is that?" she then shook me again , i looked where she was pointing and it was a white glowing ball floating in front of the tv. the thing had what looked like small moving tentacles, many of them moving. i said, "what the hell is that?" i then stared at i for 5 min. and then i said, "im going to touch it." when i started to get up the thing moved and then it faded thru the wall. when it did this i could see thru the wall and everything outside. when it finished, it faded out and the wall became the wall. my girlfriend said that was our next door neighbors soul checking in on us. i said , i have no idea. freaky, wow.

Hey undermind. Thanks a lot for the update. Seems to make the whole thing a bit wierder, even. And that is NOT the car I had pictured in my head. That looks really heavy. I was thinking of something with a little less steel, you know. Anyways, Cheers again for the update.

'Spacecowgirl' and 'estrip', excellent contributions from both. Thank you both for taking a moment to join in. Be well.

When Im not doing my job, or on here, i actually build hot rods, rat rods and muscle cars.

The EK/EH series is pretty light, and your dad is right, just over a 1000ish kg, which isnt much when you compare it to modern cars, Falcon/Fairlane or commodore/statesman, which are anywhere from 1700 - 2000kg. So 3 people lifting it, isnt really as hard as it sounds.

While fitting new leaf springs to the back of an early falcon 1964 (1125kg) they wouldnt go in, so I pushed as hard as I could, when i looked around, i noticed I had lifted the car a good 6 inches off of the jack stands, this was by myself!

No adrenaline involved though, just anger that the springs wouldnt go in

Still a very interesting story, no doubt. And keep in mind, these were kids not adults. And I'm aware they didn't lift the vehicle entirely off the ground, but I'm impressed that they were able to lift a corner of it the few inches required to allow 'dad' to crawl out. And this is a thread about 'The Strangest Thing 'YOU' Have Ever Experienced', so it is entirely on topic.
Be well, Gaderel.

Firstly, congrats to Static Sky for starting such an interesting thread !

Here is my experience living in what my sister described as a "haunted house" where I lived from birth to the age of 15. My sister is seven years older than me.

We experienced things such as:

- Rappings on the walls when my sister and her friends had a prayer meeting in her room

- Mysterious black 'shadow beings' both myself and my sisters boyfriend saw.

- An apparition of our dead dog sitting on the rug, with red eyes.

- My sister seeing "monsters" that she would not elaborate on.

-I remember being in a bubble bath where the bubbles had all but disappeared and there was just a thin white film on the water. Suddenly the film began changing into faces with swirling eyes and massive teeth. I screamed my lungs out and my mom and dad came in just in time to catch me as i jumped out of the bath and slipped on the tiles.

- Seeing what I can only describe as a human shaped object that had what looked like the consistency of blue-whitish gel.

- When I was little I used to climb out of bed, crying and run to my parents door and bang it and cry for them to let me in (I guess I would have nightmares, I can't remember). I would try the handle and get my sister to try it but we could never open the door. We told my mom this and she was so puzzled because she never even used to shut her bedroom door at night incase us kids did need her for something. She seemed quite frightened because she never heard us at night trying to get in or anything and had no idea we were trying to get to her.

- When my family moved, my uncle ( who lived in a flat on our old property) said he would never ever go back to the house again (my mom wanted to, to see what the new owners had done with it) because he hated it so much, it just creeped him out but wouldn't say why.

It got to the point where my sisters friends would not come into the house because it creeped them out so much. My house was about ten years old when I was born (in 1988) and before that the house had had about 6 different owners. The real estate agent said the last couple moved out because they didn't have enough furniture to fill the house...which I never believed.

The house has had another three owners since we moved out (about 5 - 6 years).

Thats my story !

Strangest thing I ever "saw":

- totally slient, 4 foot black shrouded (I could see the ambient light behind them) thingies standing at the foot of my bed, followed by strange dreams filled with bright lights
- the wife saw them too a few days later

Creepy things those greys...

Hi wild_artemis. Thanks for posting.

Wow. It's pretty interesting that it seems nobody can get comfortable in that house. It can be easy to explain away strange happenings in any place, by pointing out that it could just as easily be the person or even people inhabiting the space.

But when several different, unrelated groups all start off not knowing of any wierdness, and all come to find too much for comfort, it suggests that something else is going on. I won't speculate as to what, but strange indeed. Cheers.

As for many, this is my first post. Thank you to everyone for posting your amazing stories.

I started reading last night at about 8:00 pm and could not stop until 4:00 am. I was supposed to be working but this took priority. Still, I was only able to get up to page 15 or so. Today, I keep getting drawn back to the thread, partly due to procrastination, but mostly due to feelings of wonder, excitement, and discovery.

I don't have any stories that even come close to the bulk of what has been posted here. I've had strong feelings of deja vu many-a-time throughout my life. Something else happens frequently - I will be talking to someone, or they will be talking to me. The TV or radio will be on, and a particular word will be said by the presenter, only moments after I or the person I am talking to have used the exact same word. These are not simple words, they are enough to stand out - sometimes it is a phrase or saying, like 'shiver me timbers', or 'give it a rest'. Frequently this is followed-up by puzzled looks by both myself and the other party.

However, I'm writing to post about how strange I felt whilst reading through the stories here. About half an hour into it, I started to feel cold. It wasn't a typical cold feeling, but one brought about by what could be described as intense fear. My heart was pumping hard the whole time, which could have been adrenaline. I was shivering on the inside. I became a lot more perceptive to noises and lights outside and started to feel very paranoid. I was apprehensive to walk down my hallway to go to the bathroom. I was scared to look outside onto my balcony. I became aware of just how alone I was, and did not feel safe in my surroundings. The main thing that kept me in control was the fact that my two cats did not seem disturbed. They often react to how I am feeling, so this was able to calm me somewhat. That may sound contradictory, as I was feeling quite strange - however if the cats had started to behave differently, it would have validated my feelings.

I felt as though, if I were to give in to my feelings, that certainly 'something' would manifest itself. But I also felt it would most likely be sinister. I did not welcome this. It felt like darkness within me. I have not been very happy with myself for a couple of years.

I go through periods where I am in touch with myself, and then periods where I am definitely not. These can last months or years at a time. I feel now that I have been reawakened in a way, on my quest into the unknown. I don't think I'm scared of the unknown, I've always wanted to know more more more, but intense fear is the best way to describe how I felt. The fight-or-flight response was charging through me, but I could not stop reading.

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the effects that these stories have on someone who has not yet experienced this level of strange (or not!) phenomena. Once again, thanks for sharing.

Welcome to ATS 'aromanov'. This might be one of the most interesting posts on hear, just because it's definitely a different angle on the things presented in this thread. Thank you very much for your thoughts and such a well presented and thought out post, 'aromanov'. Be well and keep reading. Cheers.

PS; Thanks very much for flagging this thread, too.

Driving home tonight, looking at the stars reminded me of another weird experience I had years ago.

I remember my family had gone to a party or something and we were driving home at night. I don't know how old I was...maybe between 5 - 7 years old. My sister and I were sitting in the backseat and were looking out the back window.

We saw this thing...it looked just like a star except it was going all over the sky, doing fast circles and just whizzing around everywhere crazily. We watched it for a while and told my parents. My sister got pretty scared, she thought it was aliens or something ( she was around about 13 -15). Our parents told us it was probably nothing so we stopped watching it and just sat in the back seat talking....we looked up later and it was gone.

We have a plastic hour glass that sticks on to the wall of the shower with a suction cap. It actually only takes four minutes to drain all of the powder from top to bottom, and it is used to time how long you take to shower. This morning when I finished shower I distinctly remember leaving the hour glass in a vertical position to drain out the remainder of the powder. Moments later when I returned to the bathroom, I noticed that the hourglass was now lying horizontally, but still stuck against the wall of the shower with the suction cap. During the interval, I am certain no-one else entered the vicinity because I never left the entrance of the bathroom and I was the last person in there.

In my own experience, let me start by saying,i'm one of those confused one who doesn't know who he is.
I was a security guard at a landfill and had the nightshift,it was like a trance,i found myself in one of the hill on the landfill, when an evil entity wanted to kill me,and then came someone with the resemblance of Jesus floating in the air,who commanded (the evil entity) to leave me alone, but instead, this evil entity brought me back to guard shack and sodomize me,but my struggling with him was futile as each time i fought him off,i became weak.I jolted out of my trance like state and felt pain all over my butt.
There was one that was so real again,i have gone thru a stargate to another dimension, seen giant alien and also see a mothership. All these experience were so real, that i doubt if i was really sleeping.
These are my experience as an adult, but as a kid growing up.......that will be another post as i have even lost memory as to what i have seen and experience as a kid.
