Me: Someone asked me what was the strangest experience I've ever had and do you remember one day when you were working out the front on the old green
car and the jack collapsed?
My Father: The jack sunk in to the ground and the differential housing pressed down on my chest.
Me: Do you remember what happened?
My Father: I called out and I was there for a few seconds... Then, I think there were three or four of you who lifted the car up, and someone pulled
me out by the legs.
Me: Someone pulled you out? If everyone was lifting the car, who pulled you out?
My Father: Hmmm... I don't know.
Me: I don't remember any spare people around to pull you out while we held the car up, I know I didn't pull you out, I was holding the car up. The
way I remember it, you got out by yourself.
My Father: Well, someone grabbed me by the legs, at first anyway.
Me: OK, so I remember three of us were in the driveway, and you called out. We ran to the car and lifted it up.
My Father: And Julie B... was there.
Me: Really? I don't remember Julie being there, but when I think about it, maybe she was walking down the road. Maybe she pulled you out.
My Father: Hmmm.. not sure.
My Mother: There were some guys working across the road in front of M's place on the fence or the garden and I got angry at them for just standing
there! They just stood there looking from across the road!
Me: Well, that's another thing: (to my mother) I don't remember you being there at all, and I don't really rememeber the three guys who did
nothing, either. So there were three of us, four of us if you count Julie, and the car weighed?
My father: It was a
1961 EK Holden Special, bit
over a ton.
Me:How did we lift it?
My father: I don't know. I don't know how you lifted it.
Me: I can tell you, it was light, it was easy to lift.
My father: Well, I don't know how.
