After reading this thread I can pretty safely say...if this is the level of informed intellect, with the exception of a few of you who seem to have your head screwed on right, that is electing our government officials.....I will no longer wonder why we have such a miserable political process, policies, and politicians.

I was merely quoting the principle. I seriously doubt any socialized healthcare program would require 50% of anyone's income.

I'm not sure if you mean the socialized medicine is generally sub-par, but if you do mean that, then that's false. Take a look at the world rankings in health-care quality (produced by the WHO Worth Health Organization).

1 France - socialized medicine.
2 Italy
3 San Marino
4 Andorra
5 Malta
6 Singapore
7 Spain
8 Oman
9 Austria
10 Japan
11 Norway
12 Portugal
13 Monaco
14 Greece
15 Iceland
16 Luxembourg
17 Netherlands
18 United Kingdom
19 Ireland
20 Switzerland
21 Belgium
22 Colombia
23 Sweden
24 Cyprus
25 Germany
26 Saudi Arabia
27 United Arab Emirates
28 Israel
29 Morocco
30 Canada
31 Finland
32 Australia
33 Chile
34 Denmark
35 Dominica
36 Costa Rica
37 United States of America - greedy privatized healthcare
38 Slovenia
39 Cuba
40 Brunei

Hey, atleast we made the top 40 right, and beat Cuba by a couple spots!

Barack Obama is a Unitarian Christian. This site is participating in the redneck aryan culture war against the birth of a nation that does not need the weakness of predjudice in order to feel strong. That looks for leaders who can lead, not who have been brainwashed in a foriegn prison. I don't know about you, but I do not want a brainwashed and damaged president under the control of the Vietnamese. I would rather take my chances with a fine Christian Man who has achieved great things in the face of controversy and predjudice. It is obvious to me that this site will not even show this response.

This thread makes me worried. Not about the impact/threat of non-integrating muslims or by religious extremists, but it makes me concerned that young people are being brainwashed to hate an entire quarter of the worlds population who are muslim. There is a lot of racial propoganda these days on the internet. I can only hope that someone like Obama is elected and in the coming years perhaps ease the minds of these people into trusting people who are ethnically from a muslim background.

I know many muslims, (I am an atheist). My uncle is a white man who married a muslim women and converted to Islam. He is a peaceful family man, who practices and takes pride in his religion and is heavily involved with building his community and bringing peace to the country he lives in which is in South America.

With regards to the previous thread that quoted parts of the Quaran that were seen to incite hate/violence/killing.. worse... Those are the very samples of the Quaran that extremists like Bin Laden use to recruit young and impressionable youth who have no where to turn and who come from the worse backgrounds than alot in the west could even fathom. These quotes are taken out of context, a lot of the specific quotes were actually taken from a story in which a war actually took place centuries ago.

We can do the same thing with the bible (the bible is a book of good, peace and presents within it; lessons that can be applied to your life, but it can still be taken out of context)... Here we go:

Leviticus 20:9
If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death.

Deuteronomy 7:1-2
When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations . . . then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy.

I can go on and on with these quotes, some referring to slavery of people and some referring to genocide of entire population.

I will end this post with a simple quote that isn't taken out of context and is from the Quaran:

"O Mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous of you" (Quran 49:13).

The Quaran is very simular to the bible. To all you so called "christian" muslim bashers who don't do their research and allow yourselfs to be brainwashed into losing your sight and gaining a tunnel vision perspective of the way the world works... Allah is your god. I want you to sit back for a moment, think about the path you are taking and the beliefs you are adopting, get to know some muslim people in a neutral environment, do some more research, if you can afford it travel and see the world, I guarantee after you become properly informed you will realise the errors in your ways and if you are christian I urge you to follow your religion and repent against your wrong ways.

I have no problem with anyone practicing religion in their own homes, but SHARIA LAW is not a separation of church and state, nor education and state and is DEATH OF EQUALITY for women. As for believing that Christian or Muslim Fundamentalists should bring in their laws into any free country: its ludicrous. The entire point of this thread, which means you are twisting what its saying. Has anyone watched my link to the ROSES OF IRAN on youtubes yet, because says it all. I have personally signed their organizations petition. These beautiful muslim people are fighting for their freedom. Obama has shown his true colors and supported his cousin until 2007, in attempting to OVERTHROW A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY AND IMPLIMENTING SHARIA LAW. Don't twist words here. This is about the freedom of all people, including muslims. But for the countries already free (on paper at least and they really could change things by voting one of their own in instead and overhauling the system) we don't need to see anything like this emerge in our countries in any capacity, including in family law or education. It is the opposite of any free nations constitution.

WOO WHOO

We're not last !!!!

Interesting, i never knew they had such a list.
I guess i'd be more interested in seeing what the voting scale is based on?
Just because its #1 on their charts, doesnt mean the people of those countries necessarily like what they have.

The only one twisting words, or in this case facts, is you. Odigna neither tried to overthrow a democratic country or impliment sharia law. I gave a detailed response to your ignorant post claiming this, and you have chosen to ignore it, opting instead of wallow in your bigotry and ignorance.

According to the WHO report regarding the rankings, they are mainly based on these criteria statistically:

Responsiveness
Fairness of financial contribution
Overall Level of Health
Distribution of Health in the Populations

You can find all the information you want here:

Unitarian huh? Thats one of the churches I was interested in bringing my kids to, and its very interesting that he chose that one, as he probably won't fear too many reprisals for leaving his faith, since he hasn't. This is an interfaith Church that respects all the faiths of all its participants, including athiests who wish to raise their children with spirituality and higher consciousness. I was really interested in such a thing for my own children, but really can't bring myself to force them into going to Church after all.

I did not say that. I said that socialized-medicine is not synonymous with great healthcare.

A problem with the WHO's ranking is that it scores the level of socialization of medicine over other criteria. (And knowing that, it shows just how bad Cuba's level of healthcare is...)

You are right. Socialized medicine isn't always good, especially in the hands of a mismanaged nation. But it definitely can work, and work very good in the right hands.

Apparently, the U.S. scored number 1 in responsiveness, yet failed in all the other criteria miserably.

You see... We must kill them, this man quotes their evil book... Praising Allen is like talking to the devil himself. I heard their stinky to and my cousin who was in Irack says they sleep under their beds??? These people are backwards!!!

Well, I am not stating this as firsthand knowledge, but my neighbor who is in Reserves and served in Iraq says they Do stink, that they rarely bathe. I guess it is just a different culture. However, in the 1800's dental decay smell was considered a turn-on here in the US! My neighbor also said they do their "business" in a hole in the floor. He said the young men just hang around in big groups, doing nothing all day. I guess this all explains why they had to create laws that force women to be with them!!!

That is what is so wonderful about living in the USA----- we are allowed to think and to speak and believe however we choose. The way I see it, after much research, Obama attends a church that has been known to preach anti-white and anti-America from the pulpit, and he chose to stay there. That concerns me. His muslim background (not his color) concerns me. I know plenty of men who attend church just to fulfill the social expectations of a leadership position (in Higher Ed), and to make "contacts" with the right people. I know a young guy who started his own painting business, then started attending the largest Baptist Church in the city, he now has a thriving business, just built a 400,000 home, his wife stays home (when she's not shopping) --- and this is on a painter's business. Churches encourage their members to support fellow member businesses. In other words, the fact that Obama attends church and says he is Christian is no guarantee. Very possible he started his Christian path about the same time he acquired political aspirations. I'm not panicked, I'm just watchful. The muslims claim once a muslim/always a muslim.

The funny thing about socialized healthcare is that people who WON'T work will receive the same level of care as paying citizens (theoretically)... and will not subject themselves to any 'unfair' criticism while on the dole. It's only one massively important issue among all the others that are surfacing, and It's no wonder that someone like Obama could simply ally himself with the word change and pretend to be such a familiar force of nature... only ignorant people believe that change is a bold, new idea.

"Ridiculously Revamping Rhetoric" should be the Democratic slogan of today.

Any person who blindly blames Bush for all the ills of the world (and this Republic) is just as likely to voice their ill-sighted support for Obama "because he's black". People like that probably believe that evil died with Hitler, or summarily may believe that everything will be fixed (through Barak, they suggest) after that evil Bush is out of office.. and then dream of Victory through Obama-ism! Has there ever been such a public display of arrogance and self-righteousness in the history of the race for the US Presidency. Here come the jealousy accusations..

I may be confusing the Unitarian Church with the Unitarian Universalism (which is the one I was interested in as
"characterized by its support for a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning." Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed; rather, they are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth. Unitarian Universalists draw on many different theological sources and have a wide range of beliefs and practices.

Unitarian Universalist congregations and fellowships tend to retain some Christian traditions such as Sunday worship that includes a sermon and singing of hymns, but they do not necessarily identify themselves as Christians nor do they necessarily subscribe to Christian beliefs." en.wikipedia.org...

Here many different Holy Books can be read from and it was the most was the one I was briefly contemplating bringing my children to, but decided not to.
