Ron Paul Calls it Quits

Texas Rep. Ron Paul announced Thursday he is suspending his bid for the Republican presidential nomination to focus his time on building an organization to help recruit and elect “limited government Republicans

Well this was inevitible.

There are many hardcore Paul supporters on this site. To them I say "Good effort just not enough exposure for your guy."

I'd like to hear where the Paul supporters are going to cast their votes.

I saw this and was a bit saddened although I felt the day would eventually come. I am happy though because he hasn't lessened his resolve on making change and has started a new campaign to change the republican party back to a sane and grand party as it used to be. Now that John C Fremont spins in his grave with what the neo-cons have done to it. He has built up a very strong base not just with the people but a lot of disaffected true conservatives in power. I signed up at his new website and will probably attend their first convention on September 2nd. Anyone else who believes in smaller government should do the same.

He has opened his eyes to alot of *young* people,im not saying there aren't older ones..But young people that are never usually bothered with politics have looked around at what is happening in the world and at their country..and knew something wasn't right. That along with the ever popular zeitgesit while factually flawed in some places, gave them more insight with the Federal reserve, foreign policies the corporate elites etc etc And ron paul arrived at the right time,i can see him winning 2012...i can see the americans being disappointed with Obama..most definetly with Mccain.

At least this way it is unlikely that TPTB-Nazis will assassinate him. He can focus his effort to multiply himself across the political landscape in the States. Good on him!

My children who live in the States (and are now citizens) will likely vote for the Libertarian candidate. I know they won't vote for McCain or Obama.

If I can do the write in thing for him, I will.
Otherwise ... I'll most likely not cast a POTUS vote.

Obama (Jimmy Carter II) or McCain (Party in Iraq) =

The REAL 'change' candidate = Ron Paul.

If I was American I would have to choose "none of the above" now.

But since I am Canadian, I will instead be casting my "financial vote" by withdrawing all of my US investments and converting all USD in my possession back to CAD. This is what I said I would do as soon as I found out that Ron Paul no longer had a chance of being the republican candidate, and I'm sticking to it.

Good luck, you're going to need it. Whoever does get elected from this point, you are absolutely ****ED either way. If you think things are bad now, wait until the world realizes you are stuck with another (explitive) for a minimum of 4 more years. Particularly if McCain gets in, which is the way it looks, you don't have a hope left.

As far as I'm concerned he's as dangerous as McCain or Bush. Good riddance.

If you want to go ahead and write-in votes for him please, feel free to do so! If he ever gets elected we'll see how much you love him when your kids are flippin' DEAD because he dismantled all the govnerment regulatory agencies charged with ensuring the safety of our food, medicine, etc.

AND we'll see how well "small government" works when everything from police to roads are privatized--Sure, you're paying less in federal taxes! Too bad you have to blow your whole paycheck on tolls and paying out-of-pocket for all the services government currently provides, assuming you have much left after your state and local governments raise your taxes exponentially to pay for the things they no longer get federal funding for. I hope you homeowners don't mind paying 3-5 times what you pay now in property taxes just so your city can keep the schools open.

Face it, people, because it's a damn FACT. Small government of the kind proposed by the Libertarians and the conservative wing of the GOP leads directly to poverty, economic slavery and social chaos. This is the 21st Century, not the 18th, and government is big BY NECESSITY.

Modern Society=Big Government.

No if's, and's or but's.

The only difference is who that government serves, whether it be the Corporate Elite or The People.

Better to accept its existence and find ways to make it work for the right people than waste your precious time on this rock b!tching about things that WILL NEVER CHANGE and fantasizing about revolutions that ain't gonna happen.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled pro-Paul love fest.

Big government is "necessary" for a society that was built BY and FOR big government. The nation is a deck of cards built upon the sand, and it keeps requiring more and more aspects of the government to prop it up.

Your tales of death and destruction in this post come across as a product of the fearmongering big government you are so humbly tethered to. Research other Ron Paul posts even on this site alone and you'll see how his methods and ideas continuously confound big government's spokespersons, simply because they have no plan or even a clue of how to solve the problems Ron Paul is drawing attention to.

Big government is 100% necessary to run a system of shaky, wealth and power driven policies set up by the wealthy and powerful. So in that regard, I completely agree with you.

Ron Paul had good intentions but unrealistic policies. That said good on him for sticking around and fighting for what he believes in. I wish him the best...

I intend to also...And keep up with his continuing fight for the Peoples' Constitutional Government. I think I should also point out that Ron Paul does have some connections here.

BTW, if you're not certain whether or not you'll be allowed a write-in vote, or even concerned with the "electronic boondaggle" machines, you can request an Absentee Ballot ahead of time. At least this way, you're vote is going to be recorded on paper instead of lost to the electronic ether. Failing either, I'd personally vote "No Confidence."

You think so, huh? How about some real info to back up your statements? Small government (if it's tightly controlled by Real Laws instead of corporate interests) will win out over a big corporate government any day...My real info is backed up with documented history, so what are your sources?

Sure, roads & such are what the government are authorized to build & maintain...But as of this point, it's corporate contractors doing it all now! Instead of hiring such contractors, the government should make an official agency to handle those jobs. But the current main problem with big government is that they spend way too much money on tasks that they are not Constitutionally authorized to handle. In short, they've already got their fingers into too many pies that they were never meant to touch...Take those pies out of their reach & it won't cost nearly as much to maintain the government or the services that they're supposed to handle.

Without drastic change in the US government we will bring pain and suffering to the rest of the world as well as carrying out financial, health, educational and human rights/constitutional rights genocide. The world will reap what it has sowed that is inevitable, whether that is through natural disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, food shortages, drought, famine, disease, hurricanes etc and man made disasters like War. There is no stopping this course of action in coming months. We are amidst a global shift/change which through purification comes progress. The people who are in power across the worlds nations will be hooted out of their positions in due time, but until then and always we all only have our Self, and how content and rested and clear and healthy our individual lives are will help us through the coming change of times. The way this change of power will come is through education. What the governments around the world are and will do will soon educate the people on what their desires really are and thus exposing the fraud and illusionary ideas and fear that they imbed in their citizens. This ignorance of their people brought about by lack of proper education allows negativity to control their lives but just as the light dispels darkness so to pure knowledge dispels even the deepest and darkest ignorance. So vote in confidence because your vote is not just affecting the US but the world as a whole.

Unrealistic policies? Like small government and low taxes? Like non intervention and person freedoms? Since when is this unrealistic. This is what America was founded on it just seems unrealistic because how how far we have strayed from what we were founded on. Im writing in RP unless RP decides he wants to be Bob Barrs VP or something then Im voting that direct. Ill NEVER vote McCain or Obama. Both are for big government in their own ways and frankly I paid more income taxes last year than most people make in a year and Im sick of it. Now that things are slow I could of used that money in A LOT more places. Screw the IRS, screw the FED, and lets get back to core American principals. Long live the revolution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
