How about desating?

The process of internal rationalization that occurs after one has lost a debate; the warm down period from a confidently expressed rhetorical showing that was not officially concurred with through the official tally.

Perhaps it needs work...

Did anyone else's conspiratorial itch perk up when they introduced the crew of the Hudson river Flight?

As if it was meant to 'reframe' public perception regarding airline crashes?

Seems odd in my opinion that that would have been decided upon for oe of the years biggest audiences...

Paranoid perhaps...but remember I am a conspiracy theorist...

I absolutely agree Mem. The entire thing feels like it's been made too much of.

I believe this represents a deliberate transition of symbolism, moving from heroes who have been martyred to heroes who succeeded. This dovetails perfectly with the transition from Bush's policy focus to Obama's policy focus, which can be summed up as a move from revenge to rebuilding.

Of course Skyfloating will soon prove me and Mem to be wrong about this- no way the MSM is chock full of innaccuracies and propaganda- only the internet is like that
.

Exactly...coupled with the fact that most of the population has recently been forced to consider their own individual lives and finances as opposed to the actions of our authority figures.

Reminds me of the scene in V For Vendetta...When the Chancellor shouts out, "I want them to remember exactly why they need us!"

Some of my concerns may be inaccurate attempts at pattern recognition but I suspect that too many coincedences deny the reality of the coincedence...

Actually a finer point could be made, that shows the success of the 'change and hope paradigm' - the fact that you found, quite easily, that allegorical interpretation shows that such rhetoric has successfully embedded itself quite firmly into the archetype of the current 'American Story'.

The American media: "Putting the tint in your rose-colored glasses since 1919"™.

My money is on the cards (My brother is betting a 12 pack against a 6 pack and giving me 2.5 points) but I'm gonna go ahead and say that 3 points is a big enough lead for the Steelers.

Generally I LOVE defensive teams, I have almost no respect for passing offenses, and I have mild trust issues pertaining to kickers. All of those things create anxiety for me at this moment, vis a vis The Cardinals.
