Hungry, a little exhausted, but excited at the same time.

These last few weeks, when you know you can get a call saying it's go time at any moment are nerve racking. It's also hard to get a good nights sleep when I have to be ready to take off at a moments notice.

The call where my wife has gone into labor, or being woke up in the middle of the night because she is in labor. It's hard to get good rest on the edge like this.

Grace (one of my mother's nicknames for me in childhood - she swore I went about 10 years and never had both knees healed up at the same time) struck again.

Saturday afternoon, I had finished sweeping out my horse trailer in preparation for Sunday's ride, and when I stepped out of the trailer my left foot went into a hole that I didn't see because it was full of leaves. 3rd degree sprain with complications from an old injury (calcification of the tendons). I'm wrapped and splinted and we're crossing our fingers it will heal up, otherwise we're looking at possible surgery.



Of course I never got to go on the ride Sunday, and it'll probably be a while before I can get on a horse - or a bicycle - again.

Heike! I've been missing you around here and was going to u2u and see what was going on. I am very sorry to hear about your sprain. I had a third degree once, w/o earler complications, and it took me the better part of a year to get back to 100%. I think I made matters worse though in the beginning as I did not treat it or myself properly in the early stages of recovery.

Sky, especially I am esp. looking forward to your posts today, you being in a vivd eager, ready mood and all. And what is up with The Vagabond? Is he shirking? Hmmm...

Oh, and before I forget. I brought pedestals for everybody!

Aafter Maria's oblique comment yesterday about someone's crumbling (mine, Mems or hers it wasn't quite clear), I was alarmed and wanted to make sure we all have one to call our own.

Well, based on Maria's comments they've been around but are in sorry and crumbling states. Maybe that's why you did not notice them.
