I have been here for awhile now and the ONLY issues I have with ATS are the flash ads....and me having to turn Flash off.

Other then that ATS does NOT affect my connection at all. My average speed is about 5.1 (just checked - right now, it is 5.1)

There are so many other issues one can have to cause your connection to slow....I really dont think ATS would be the cause of it....but, what do I know

I actually have more problems with other sites I visit

Firstly, to the OP - ALL UK internet traffic is slowing in my experience, because the infrastructure here is not set up to carry the higher spec broadband rates that it is doing. AOL's entire network blipped out the other night for several hours, and Virgin, Tiscali and Sky have all had similar problems in recent months.

Secondly - as advice - anyone connected to the net should be running a decent firewall, virus scanner and spyware scanner, all of which can be got free of charge, but I would suggest that you get them from a "leading name".

I run a McAfee firewall AND Windows firewall, AVG free, Spybot Search and Destroy and Windows Defender all the time. I also keep a seperate disk with various root-kit detection and anti-malware stuff on it. Sounds overtly paranoid but I've needed every single one of them in my jaunts around the net and I can say with all honesty that ATS had never caused me a problem at all.

Thirdly - Adboe screwed Flash up fairly badly in an update earlier this year. I suggest that you update your flash player to the latest version and take it from there - and if you are running Firefox make sure you update the Flash component.

Hope that all helps

I am actually pleased with my ISP even though its supposed to be the worst (or close to the worst) in Europe (Karoo). I heard terrible things about them before I signed up (Only ISP in the Humberside area currently) but I've had better up rates and speeds then many of my friends around the world, I guess having my buildings connection taper off immediately into a 'Back Bone' telecommunications line due to my location helps, as does living less then 0.5 miles from the ISP themselves hehe.

No difference in speed here from this site on my end though, just the usual slowing in general due to Humbersides peak times...etc

Yeah I'm in UK, on BT, have anti-virus and this site is slow as nuts for loading. I thought it was my computer so re-installed everything about a month ago but still it is as slow as before. There must be an awful lot of folks reading this forum thats all I can think of. Or like you say UK internet is being overloaded with people downloading/uploading, which wouldn't surprise me.

to the op, you talk like your doing something that you want to hide from the government or something. like they're interfering in your line. I dunno, but something tells me (and it may be common sense) that if the government were to take a real interest in you enough to not disconnect your internet completely, but just crappify it, then you would have to be doing something pretty serious. I dunno tho. Just my opinon on the situation.

Hiya

I have noticed that over the last 2 or 3 months my broadband has become alot slower than normal. I've been viviting ATS for around 12 months, so I don't think it's anything to do with that.

My mums connection also seems to have slowed a little over the last couple of months.

Maybe it's just the amount of users around now.

ya know now that you mention it everytime im on ATS my internet gets really slow. ATS seems fairly simple in its presentation but it always bogs down my computer. Its fine with every other site, even much more complex ones.

i do not think ats would have software on its site that did anything detrimental imho. as this would deter people from coming which would defeat the object of ats.
top site btw

Hey,

I went to a wedding last night, just woke up and my head is killing me. There are too many posts to reply to.

I chose the one above. Im a normal bloke with nothing to hide.....there isnt a reason why the government would interested in other than a few parking fines. My broadband takes a specific route into Manchester and then onto the net out of Manchester so the line has a perfect route to the internet - as I said earlier - I sell this stuff for a living. But as said, since Feb/March time, the connection has become very unstable and very slow at times. I work from home so im on the net all day and night. I have every check done by my engineers and BT but they cant see a problem.
So I thought, is it possible that organisations are monitoring people like you and I (people that are interested in the truth) and the information we are gathering / collecting. Correct me if I am wrong, but I beleive that ATS is one of the most popular type of websites in its field on the internet? So this would be a perfect place for organisations to potentailly monitor. Hence the question has anyones connection got worse since they started posting on ATS?

We all remember this from earlier this year - news.bbc.co.uk...

Granted, this is to the extreme but i think you know where im coming from.

Anyway, if i do have a technical problem that can be solved, but has just been overlooked (by BT) then I suppose i can disagree with my own thread
thats probably a first on ATS.

Your exactly right for general broadband users. Its just that my specific line doesn't connect into the popular end users ISP's like Tiscali, BT, Wanadoo, talk talk.

Its probably paranoia from my end. As far as we know half the stuff we read mybe disinfo created by the government so there is probably no need to monitor us anyway

Strange, my internet connection has improved since joining but that could just be because I have been bombarding them with complaints about the speed! (Poopex)

I have had people telling me they can hear clicking on the line and an echo as if another phone is lifted in my house etc. To be honest even if there was something going on its probably just the local councils as there have been stories in media about them spying on people in uk.

I have periods when I am on ATS and my computer constantly shuts down.
Days might go by and everything goes good and other days maybe days at a time when I am here it just shuts down by itself constantly.

I don't really think it is ATS when this happen a box on the bottom right corner opens and tells me my signal is unavailable and down it goes??? I don't understand it but I am a computer dummy for sure.

Speaking from the USA my internet connection hasn't been as troublesome as much as what's floating about on the website. I've almost considered renouncing my ATS membership because of the problems I get from ATS as opposed to other sites.

I've defragmented and reworked my hard drive 8 times now and something keeps blowing through my Firefox, Norton Anti-V, and ISP security pop-up blocker software. On certain issues of ATS I've been thrown off the net altogether with the same anonymous IE error. My email system was affected for a while after I received an email from ATS (a "thank you" for contact) and my mail wouldn't fully load.

Someone, something, or both, has been trying hard to load me up and its not after I post to a certain topic but BEFORE I even touch a key! Its almost like my computer knows what I'm about to enter on a subject. That said, and before I possibly get thrown off again, here's the list of subjects: UFOs, Area 51, Dulce Base, Obama (pro and con), Conservatives (con), Liberals (pro), the Iraq War (con), and any religious thread that WOULD involve my opinion. If I state facts on the last one I'm okay.

But this is becoming an issue BEFORE I log in or post, not after. Anybody else bothered by this "knows-all-sees-all-knocks-off" computer problem? I live in the central Midwest of the USA.

I have noticed ATS pages are a big sluggish lately, but that's probably because of the increase in members. Time for another server upgrade?

Other then that my internet speeds are fine.

I would put it down to BT being too greedy. They accept LOTS of new broadband customers but fail to upgrade the local exchanges causing crap speeds (a bt engineer even admitted this to me). My connection has got worse over the last year and im just outside Leeds and 2 mins from the nearest exchange. But your theory is food for thought!

Peepers knows, That if you suspect something, and that something acts like its not like the others, than it is what you suspect. And if it is not what you suspect, it could very well be similar to that.

Peepers knows something. Peepers would be banned if it were told.

Peepers will tell you this, your on to something.............
