Hi Guys,

this has been bothering me for a while and wouldnt mind some feedback.

I sell uk and european private data/voice networks for a living, so I understand internet connectivity very well.

I work for a Carrier and my internet connection for the past 4 years has been excellent. With respect to broadband, my customers had in total 50,000 uk ADSL connections with me. So i have heard ever type of problem you can ever get with broadband - intermittent connections, slowness of speed, stale sessions - i wont bore you with any more jargon.

Ever since i registered on ATS and started posting my internet connection has gone terrible. I havent just been visiting ATS, I have been logging on to loads of websites - project camelot, youtube etc. Obviously I have been watching lots of conspiracy information.

Has anyone else had similiar experiences? I have had my line checked by my engineers and BT and I cannot figure out for the life of me why my connection is crap. There could be a valid reason and this maybe just paranoia. Iread earlier that chrisonabike aka RW had a network outage and cant connect to the net...this got me thinking

Big brother maybe tapping into my line...

With the number of amatuer observers tapping into my line anyway, i don't think i need to worry about the government going for it anytime soon - they'll have to get in line.

I haven't noticed any difference mate, but then, it would be hard for me to tell any difference considering the amount of foreign activity that goes on in my circuits anyway.

I can't help you here, as much as i'd like to.

My broadband supposed to be 2mb but it has two main speeds:

slow and slower!

As for ATS, I think it just may be the amount of traffic affecting it. Does the lowband / highband option affect speed? It costs 50 points but what does this do??

Just curious.

Brei.

cheers mate......not much of a response so i expect this is just a case of paranoia from my end. Im kind of lucky, with using the company i work for we dont have any consumers on the network so it should be and has been a fantastic connection.

Still a little weird though that its gone a bit haywire since Feb.

The ATS site seems to be hosted very well. My conneciton has got worse no matter how which sites I browse. Its like a yoyo, sometimes good, but mainly cr@p.

Im not sure about this 50 point thing...

Dav good morning from a fellow Manchester resident. (Yes i know my av says Liverpool)

If it means anything mate all i can say is that ATS makes no difference to my broadband connection whatsoever. I have had other sites that have slowed down my connection but definitely not ATS

Yesterday my PC suddenly turned itself off while I was at ATS. And sometimes, after I have logged out of this site, the next time I want to log in, I discover that I am already logged in!

Don't know if this means anything, I just think it is a little strange. I have never experienced this on any other forums.

I don't care what anyone says or how paranoid/tin-hatty it may be...but I am on my third computer since finding ATS. I'm talking crash and burn, weird stuff. One pretty serious trojan horse on the second computer. And I don't sleaze all over the net, just a few regular sites and ATS.

I've been visiting ATS for quite a while now and I haven't noticed any slow downs that can be attributed to ATS.
I only have dialup (56K) so it's very noticeable when a slow down occurs. When this happens it's usually spyware and it doesn't take long for my net access to become unusable. Running "Spybot - Search & Destroy" cleans things up. It's amazing how many sites are spyware infested but not ATS.

Hmm.....it must be BT - Bloody Toss.

So i better change my mood from stressed to paranoid!

im on my laptop and wireless on cable modem but nothing seems to be slow on connection but i do get ip warnings of someone trying to use my wireless connection. there is an interesting story on what happened one day but maybe i'll post a thread on that.
the only slow part i have is in my computer turning on and loading up its settings. no problem here that i've had thus far. i did see one thing disturbing on another conspiracy ufo site called eagles disobey i found from the Kevin Smith show. while i checked on the forum i looked at the bottom of the page it said 150 members online 20 guests and [5 invisible viewers]. who are they and are they here too? how do you become invisible? that i thought was wild.

Invisible/ Hidden Viewers/ Members are usually staff/ admin/ moderators or senior members who have either chosen to keep their identity while online masked or been granted the feature for some reason. If you have 6 staff members and all have chosen to be hidden/ invised then you wont know which one/s happens to be currently around. Its more a feature for standard members though since its a means to help stop too much unwanted attention being given to a specific member if they have a stalker since some hidden settings remove the ability to see any info like Email address or the option for standard people to message them through things like Private Messages.

I'm not certain of what you mean by 'gotten worse' and 'crappy.' (I'm not doubting what you say, just trying to understand the specific problem.)

Here's a couple of things you can try:

Clean your cache.
Defrag your drive.
Maybe a different browser.
(I use Mozilla Firefox.)

Im in uk also, and i do sometimes notice things when im on ats.... sometimes my laptop just shuts down, or freezes...... but that could just be coincidence although i have to admit, when it shuts down on me, i get a little paranoid!! .... and have a quick peek out the window for MIB's

Well, other than my apartment complex having its router fry the other weekend and having noticeably slower service ever since the new router was installed (especially spikes in latency at exactly midnight every night for no apparent reason) I haven't had any problems.

YES!!!
I believe: This Site Is diseased with Adware.
And yes the problem lepped off after joining.

If something more flattering is happening, it will just be government computers planting software that won't be easily picked up by virus scaning. The logic behind it could be to...
1. Track our internet activity
2. Or to profile it
3. And maybe advance Google Editing
4. And maybe even locate us.

This is attractive since it can be done by machines without any (direct) human labor costs (perfect for a gov department!!!).

But anybody who think someone is hacking your machine to read what you post online needs their head checking since...it's a public forum. I wouldn't mind computer hacking if it didn't damage or slow mine down. But then there's zero chance of reasoning with a computer programme!!

I've had computer issues on and off since finding ATS. But the biggest one right now is the ads. It's always trying to refresh or reload the ads and whenever it can't find one from 'adserver', it kicks me completely off the site. Sometimes it happens repeatedly and I get so aggravated I just go to another website (it doesn't happen on any other sites I visit).
