An Experiment in Alternative Methods of Earthquake Prediction

How's everyone been the past few days? I've had decent sleep, no weird dreams, nothing amiss. Well, nothing amiss aside from my eldest cat having a weird "let's irritate the humans by getting into everything conceivable" bug up his butt yesterday & today. He's very geriatric, he should be in a perma-coma, only emerging long enough to eat & use the litter box, not acting like a mischievous twerp

A thought occurred to me a little while ago. I wonder if everyone's heightened alertness some days back was possibly related to the Russian bolide yesterday? Maybe that "disturbance in the force" zone extends a ways beyond the planet more than one would assume?

I've been good as usual, luckily, but now I've been having really crazy ear pressure changing.

Been pretty good for a few days now. No idea of any connection with the meteorite, but personally I dont think so, could be though. Maybe volcanic, maybe a lot to do with santa cruz? No idea, but the rage feeling has been gone for several days now.

A little bit of ear ringing today, but nothing strong. Dont know why, but I've been thinking about Europe all day.

I found in google and on youtube this morning, stories of the earthquake in Rome Italy yesterday. "Near the Vatican", some said. First that big lightning strike,............(God's ticked!)

Expanding on your thought.... the Sun/Son seems to be going through a more "turbulent" state. Something wild and crazy is bound to happen sooner than later with the disturbance of the Sun/Son. Giving of life can be said both give. they both are also said to be able to take it away. The force of nature in my view is definitely ticked.

Well I'm kinda calm, and have been fine for a few days, apart from a little IBS. No huge anxiety like last week, but ears ringing noticeably today. It's been a gorgeous day too, and our first gardening day of the year...yup...it was that warm.

I still feel like I'm sitting on a bomb, and this notion of "strike" or "hammer fall" isn't far away. Hmmm.

Yep, fairly calm today, but that feeling of something terrible coming soon is still there.

I just can't shake it. Whatever it is, it's a game changer. I wish I could pin it down to a place or time, but I just can't. I'm due to visit my family in the States in a few weeks and part of me is dreading it, part of me is expecting not to go, and on the surface it's all being organised as usual, totally in denial of everything I'm feeling.

The correlation in what we all feel and how it ebbs and flows just blows me away. It's really like we're all connected or tapped into something bigger than us, and feeling things that most people can't even imagine.

I have to add....I've been trying to pin something about this down to some kind of specific something, and I'm not getting very far. The best I can come up with is this. I kept trying to work out when it will happen, or where it will happen, if we work on the consensus that there is something massive almost here.

I think, I feel really that whatever this is, has already started. It's a process, not an event, and we've seen the start of it, maybe in Santa Cruz. It's not almost here, it is here, we're in the middle of it almost, and the rest of it...maybe two thirds still to come will be much much worse.

That's as much as I can summon up at the moment. Sorry if it's a blurb.

I just remembered, and this has hit some kind of chord with me...I posted a parcel to Lucca in Italy recently, about a week after the 4.8 quake there. Obviously it's not about that quake, as I mailed it after the fact, but it popped into my head for a moment there so I thought I would share it with you all. It's an unusual destination.

Old cat was running around yowling &' scritching' on the floor again last night???!!!
I felt so wiped out the last couple of days! But I couldn't sleep to save my life!

Feel pretty good today, but my energy is building!

Had some kind of chest pains/twitches the other day, & twice the week before.
A new symptom to keep track of?
I have no heart issues, no high blood pressure, not on any meds!
Had heart tests not too long ago, everything checked out fine.
It was a weird feeling, something I've never felt before. Just up & to the left of my sternum.
Thought maybe it was like hubby feels in his left pec before quakes.
But he wasn't feeling his when I was!

He feels something building too. Was pretty strong earlier.
The video about the shock wave is an interesting possibility, but not quite right time wise!!!
Said he was feeling it pretty strongly late last night & again around noon (ET), today at work.
Hmmm, that would make it exactly 12 hours apart!
He still feels something, but not quite as strong as before.
His symptoms are about a 5 now, but had been around 6 1/2 or 7 earlier at work!

What's really weird is how people on so many of the threads are getting
outright rude & 'snarky' so easily, for no good reason! Has anyone else noticed it???
I still think that's a sign of something. I've noticed a kind of pattern to it before.
But it only lasted a couple of days before, this time it's going on longer!

It will be interesting to see if anything 'develops'!

This is almost exactly the symptom I get. I've also had all the bloods and ecg stuff done, and nothing. Very odd that you're getting it now too. It also goes up either side of my neck when I get very stressed or panicky, like last week, but that's like the last symptom I get.

Hi!
The first time it happened it woke me up. I had been sleeping on my left side.
It was just my left shoulder that hurt so bad, it felt like I had hurt/bruised it somehow.
I'd still been wide awake at 4 AM, only been asleep a couple of hours, then that woke me up!
Turned over on my right side. Then the left arm started aching! Nothing else then yet.

I got mad 'cause I was so tired! Knew what left side could mean, so I took a couple of aspirin.
Since I don't have any heart issues, I thought maybe I had slept on it wrong.

Then when I woke up for the day, that pain was gone, but I had the the other 'twitch'.
So far that's the only time I had the shoulder/arm pain.
But the twitch has happened three times now.
It doesn't last very long, and the other day after it happened,
I felt really good, better than usual!
Some strange stuff going on for sure!!!

Hi everyone. This is my first post on ATS in 9 days. In fact I don't believe I've even logged in for a week, though I've still lurked a little -- a few minutes every day or so -- without logging in, just to see what people are posting.

The reason is simple. When I get "those feelings" that things are not right, it affects my ability to focus and especially to post. With me it's practically a barometer. The more active I am on here, the better I probably feel overall -- and vice versa.

I guess some of you are the same. Also, my sleep has been a mess: I finally got to sleep at 5 am today.

I'm only posting now because of something I read on the Fragile Earth boards today: Mystery: SEVEN-MILE 'mega-pod' of 100,000 dolphins off the coast of San Diego.

It's quite something, especially the video:


You know, I'm in the latter half of my fifties and I never heard of anything like this. Large pods of dolphins -- sure. But an estimated 100,000 of them, swimming along in a group seven miles long and five miles wide? Thirty-five square miles of ocean, covered in dolphins?

This is really one for the books.

Now here's what really bothers me. Nowhere in any of the reports that I read online did it say what direction all those dolphins were swimming. For me, that was absolutely the key point because unless 100,000 or so dolphins just happened to all get together from many miles around, purely to swim along in one super-mega-pod, then there has to be a reason why they did it.

If you watch the video you'll see that generally speaking all the dolphins are heading in the same, general direction -- towards the sun, more or less. Now, we know from the reports that these dolphins were first spotted around noon and then followed for some miles, and that video looks like it was taken around mid-afternoon. Say, between 2 and 3 pm at a rough guess. So at this time of the year, the sun is already well westering.

That should be enough information for us to figure out what direction those dolphins were swimming.

Why is this all so important? Because like whales, dolphins are intelligent mammals, with very sensitive hearing. They are known to be disturbed by noises in the water, and also -- just like whales -- they are known to change behaviour and even beach shortly before major earthquakes.

I think those dolphins are not just following a food trail. I think they are getting the heck out of Dodge.

What I can't figure for certain, even with drawing diagrams, is this: were those dolphins headed north? I think they're headed basically N or NNW, but I am not 100% certain and I feel it's something we need to know.

If anyone can give a definitive answer based on what we can observe from their general direction and the sun's position in the video, then please do. If any of you are mariners - say, experienced with yachting -- then I'm sure you can figure it out for us. But we need to know which way that huge pod of dolphins was going and we need to know asap. Because if they're headed N to NNW, then that could mean very big trouble is looming right behind them -- where they just came from.

I've been having lucid nightmares for a few days in a row (when I sleep at night), in which I am trying to survive in a world/environment unfamiliar to me, and I am on my own mostly, struggling. I tell myself before I doze, not to have bad dreams, but it does no good. I --just-- --hate-- --this-- .

Bah...not a happy girl today. Very anxious, ibs symptoms, sore hip, feeling like I could easily slip into panic at any time at all. And nightmares last night about the devil of all things.

Mike...am also very curious about the dolphins. I feel your instincts about their direction is bang on correct and they're moving away from the Cali coast. I'm going to ask if I can have more information about them before tomorrow. It's a real woowoo thing to do, but it's what I feel like. Nothing rational is bringing me any help or solutions at all, so I may as well be a witch.

I saw the video the other day & something didn't seem right to me either.
Eq was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

Like a couple of years ago, when some sea lions that had been in CA for 40 some years,
disappeared all of a sudden. There was an eq after that, can't recall all the details right now.
How big, how close or how soon? I always wondered if they ever came back!

In the video I noticed the dolphins were swimming along in a nice formation in part of it.
Then in another part, they were so close together they looked like they were bumping into each other.
They are all over the place direction wise right then too.
They could be feeding maybe, but no matter how good the food source is,
how do 100,000 dolphins find out about it at the right time & all arrive together???
And from all over the Pacific? I wonder what the density of dolphins normally is in a square mile of ocean?

I watched it on youtube & there are other videos that say mega pods of dolphins,
but it looks like only 20 or so in them! Nothing like last week!
They are dated 2/11 & 1/10. So it could be something with the time of year.
But...look at the dates again. About a month or so before Japan & what was it...Chile?

Then the write up said noon & that they followed them for about an hour.
But the sun is pretty close to the horizon in the film.
I looked up sunset for San Diego for last Thursday & it was 5:34.

At 1:05 in the video, at the very right of the picture, there appears to be a little spit of land showing.
Even looks like a little cloud cover hanging over it like you'd expect over land.

So curiosity got the better of me & I tried to call the cruise company.
They should be 3 hours behind me & according to the hours that they had listed,
they should have been opened for a half hour yet when I called. But it said they were closed!

Unfortunately, I have to leave early tomorrow morning & I don't know what time I'll get home!!!
But I'll try again when I do & see if I can find out anything!
Maybe someone will have already found out something by then!

You and me both. I'm not generally given to having nightmares, but last night (ie into this Tues a.m.) was one of the worst nights I've had in years. Went to bed at 10:30 as I was beat, woke up at 12.30 from some nasty dreams, got up to shake them off as we do, then back to bed, and got woken up at 3.30 am by some that had me literally calling out.

And that second batch was worse than the first. Incredibly mixed, all very scary, and with me being in entirely the wrong place. Like, I live in the middle of Europe and in this dream I found myself among people by the coast and there isn't any within hundreds and hundreds of miles. And it was sunny, bright, nothing like Europe is now. And it didn't feel like Europe.

The dream started here and I was speaking Czech to people (which makes sense as that's where I live) but rapidly moved to this other place where everyone spoke English, but it didn't feel like the UK or even Australia. And there had just been a huge disaster but I don't even know what had happened.

If I wanted to make stuff up, I could say it was a quake or tsunami but the fact is, I simply don't know. I only know there was crazy panic buying/looting in supermarkets (I was in one and saw it) and people looting apartments (including mine).

I'll skip the details but it was a bad night. Normally I hate getting up at 6.30 am in winter, but this morning I was very glad.

Does it mean anything? I don't know but this thread is largely about recording things that might be indicators of humans' ability to sense Earth changes, so I'll log it for the record.

Hi Cait,

the dolphin thing is weird because off the Cali coast, where there is so much marine traffic (and right near one of the biggest ports in the US), it would've been noticed if it had happened before in recent history. The Port of San Diego takes in millions of tons** of shipping for the US each year and there is no way they'd not notice a thing like that, day or night. (** 3.3 million tons, last time I checked.)

That's why it bugs me.

the sea lions are at Pier 39 in San Fran. It was back in late 2009 that they cleared out (after about 20 years in residence) but most began returning in Feb 2010. Some of those sea lions that were so well known they could positively identified, were spotted hanging out with others near the Sea Lion cave area off Oregon. Officially, this happens every year, but it was 2009 when they departed so quickly that it made the news.

But they're still there. They did come back and each year now, most of them apparently leave sometime after Thanksgiving then return around February.

If you can contact the tour company that would be great. It would be good to know what general direction those dolphins were going. And were they seen to disperse or did they just head off into the sunset, so to speak?

EDIT: re the dolphins, we know that they are very smart. We know they have ways to communicate and apparently have language abilities (as do some whales), and they can hear each other over vast distances.

And they can also hear things that we cannot.

It just doesn't make sense to me that the food supply would be so good that they'd congregate in such vast numbers. It's like the "restaurant argument". Say you live in a place with many restaurants and one is known to be the absolute best. Even given that, there is no way that everyone in town shows up at that one place on the same night. They would only do so if there was another, very compelling reason why they all felt they had to go there at the same time.

But these dolphins, highly intelligent mammals that they are, basically did what the "restaurant argument" says they (and we) don't do, and so something beyond the food motivated them. Sure, they were feeding as they went along. They aren't stupid, and if they see food, they eat it.

But even if it were simply that there was a vast supply of food (sardines etc) swimming along in that one region, what was the reason for it? What change in conditions occurred? And why on earth don't we get reports of local fishermen (generic term ) having absolute once-in-a-lifetime bumper catches? If there are such huge supplies of fish that it attracts 100,000 dolphins, why isn't the place packed with fishing boats as well?

I didn't see any.
