Laser and WOQ....thank you so much. I still feel like poop this morning and the migraine is stubborn...that's almost two days now when usually a few hours sleep deals with it. I just have to get on with it though, and I've never been the type to lie in bed and wallow, so I have a long list of to-do's for today, just to help me get some of this energy out and into something constructive. Meditation isn't helping me either. I'm considering spell casting. Seriously.
Still have panic symptoms, pains in my neck and back, and a massive feeling something is about to snap. Maybe me!

Hope you're all feeling better by the time you read this....will check in later.

Your welcome, but no, I'm still feeling it.

The migraine thing also really sucks. I tried everything over the counter, and even some nasty folklore home recipes for headaches tea...still pounding.

Btw, Santa Cruz just had another 7.1, aftershock?!

Hope my kids are good today, its a snow day from school.

Peace

Morning...
This is getting a bit silly really. I've never had a migraine this bad and last this long...well, only once it's been worse, and I was hospitalised with suspected meningitis. Not good. I making myself cope just because I don't want to give in to it...

I'm not surprised Santa Cruz is still rumbling. I really didn't think that was finished, and I still feel like it's just the start of something much bigger and more sudden. That's a lot of energy released in all those quakes already.

My dog is really clingy today too. Normally, I'm chef and belly scratcher, but today all he wants are cuddles and more cuddles. He's lurking under the dining table too, which I've never seen him do. But why us...why here in Scotland...maybe Katla is stirring.

I had, quite frankly, one of the WORST nights of sleep in a long while last night. I woke up probably around 12-15 times, ugh. I woke for the day a short while ago and noticed there was a 7.0 in the Solomons at 10:26 eastern (which would be -5 UTC for me) I wonder if the rotten sleep and that are linked? Or if the rotten sleep and something bigger building over there are linked? The husband always jokes that I don't sleep, I go comatose (
) so a horrible night's sleep like last night is extremely out of the ordinary. If I wake, it's usually once or twice to use the bathroom, not a dozen + times for no apparent reason

And I still have that damned headache. It's lessened, but has not gone away. Horribly interrupted sleep is not going to help any, I'm sure.

Yesterday was awful. I went in to work and my boss/mother-in-law sent me back to bed. I stayed there until 4pm. Got up went to a town meeting, got a major headache, ate a tiny green salad, promptly lost said green salad and went back to bed until 8:45am this morning.
Now all of that might have been just personal body trauma of some sort, but it did manage to move the rage. Now it is in my throat.
I don't know what that is about either. Oh and my head is buzzing and there is a roiling mass raising up my spine to press between my shoulder blades.

Caitlin I hope your migraine is better.
Those are one of my personal crosses to bear as well. It is the hardest pain to block, I do declare.

Just for the record, just in case. I'm experiencing the pressure changeing thing in my ear. At the same time, my cat is being "fritzy". A word I made up for when he goes racing around the apartment.

^So first thing this morning, I see magnitude 7s and the like, (7.0, 6.9,) going off in Chile. Thats not usual, is it?

Chile? I've not seen anything in that range there today and have no idea what your source is, as there's nothing on the USGS maps for Chile above a mag 4.7. I'll respond further at the end of this post with this mark: ****

However, there was a mag 7 in Colombia just under an hour ago:

M7.0 - 5km NE of Yacuanquer, Colombia 2013-02-09 14:16:06 UTC

Event Time

2013-02-09 14:16:06 UTC
2013-02-09 09:16:06 UTC-05:00 at epicenter
2013-02-09 15:16:06 UTC+01:00 system time

Location

1.143°N 77.362°W depth=129.3km (80.3mi)
Nearby Cities

5km (3mi) NE of Yacuanquer, Colombia
11km (7mi) SW of Pasto, Colombia
20km (12mi) SE of Sandona, Colombia
29km (18mi) E of Tuquerres, Colombia
199km (124mi) NE of Quito, Ecuador

Source: USGS

The good news: this quake was pretty deep (at 129km) and that will lessen its effects versus a much shallower event. The bad news: there are some towns very close to the epicenter and there could be damage and even casualties. It's still early for any detailed reporting so we need to be wary of what might be reported so soon.

Another point of interest is the discussions here in the thread from a few days ago, namely the "west to east" statement. I suggested it might mean large events on the western (coastal) side of the Americas, and this quake in far west Colombia would pretty much qualify on that score:

From: USGS World Quake Map

****Getting back to Eedjee's queries about mag 6 to 7 quakes in Chile, the answer is that yes, in Sth America, we are more likely to see the bigger ones in Chile than most other regions, especially close to the Chilean coast. But as you can see from the above map, there's not a lot in Chile right now.

Today's mag 7 in Colombia is a far less common event for that particular region, compared to what happens in Chile. But in any case, a mag 7 is strong and wherever one happens it's a significant event.

You have my sympathies! I'm the same: need the cup of java in the morning before my brain (??) even starts to function!

Anyway, I've been looking around online but haven't found any damage reports yet. We can hope that as the quake was relatively deep there won't be too much harm done.

Just for interest, the last big quake in Colombia was on Sept 30 last year: a mag 7.3. (Technical summary on USGS HERE.)

Intense ear ringing, light headed, sense of rage around and below me.. anxiety, and ear pressure. The rage beneath me feels almost physical, like a low tremor.

7.5 or bigger, prob much bigger within the next 4 days.

Peace

I'm tending the same way. But the question, as always is where: same side of the Pacific plate or elsewhere? Laser, what's your feeling? I'm torn between two possibilities here: either more action on the eastern side of the Pacific plate, or new shocks on the western side -- most likely along the western Americas. So I would like any feedback.

And anyone else who'd like to chip in with hunches, gut feelings, technical observations or whatever, please do! Whether you agree or disagree, that's fine. Just trying to see what the general feeling is.

I've never had a migraine last this long...three days now and no sign of stopping. Dizzy spells, headaches, extreme noise and light sensitivity, IBS, anxiety, impatience, clearing out and stocking up like the world is going to end despite feeling like crap. Now my other half is off work for a while through absolutely no fault of his own, so we're both working in the house, making plans....clearing out, recycling, tidying, like mad things. And god I'm hungry...cannot stop eating...like every two hours.

As for location, as usual, I haven't a clue really, but it's not surprising that the activity seems to be working round the Pacific. I'm still thinking about that pic I posted of the irrigation channel in California. Bah...I dunno.

Stay safe and in touch people.

Been thinking about it all day long. I think Santa Cruz might still be building up to something possibly. I always worry about my two dream areas, Cascadia and Taiwan, but I have to.

But thats what I hate most about these symptoms when I am right, never knowing location.

The only two differences between now and Japan, is the migraine, and the rage feeling beneath me. And btw, that rage feeling is back stronger, as is the loudness of the ear ringing.

I'm not having a good feeling about all of this. And I am confident that water is going to be an issue. I don't know why I am confident, I just am. I don't understand any of the technical things with plate techtonics and such, but I can tell you that I think something really bad is about to come down the pipe line. I hope I'm wrong.

About an hour ago the anxiety roared in with a vengeance.

I can't seem to catch my breath.

It's almost like a scream trapped behind my eyes

Hi, everyone!
Just happened to realize...all the activity that's going on & I haven't been craving popcorn?!
Have been crazy hungry at times though, even when I had already eaten!

Hubby says he still feels something, but can't tell how soon yet.
He did have a good night's sleep the last two nights though.
First time since all this activity started!

It was old cat tonight who was clingy & wanting attention.
Earlier he was racing around like his tail was on fire.
Yowling, running from room to room, claws 'scritching' on the floor!
Young cat just stared at him!
Later he was just sitting there all scrunched down low like he was scared.
Or like he didn't feel good. After that is when he wanted petted & didn't want me to stop!

When I was outside sweeping the porch this afternoon I almost lost my balance.
Just like I was on a ship & a big wave washed under the boat!
Not a literal feeling of movement, just suddenly almost couldn't stay on my feet!

I felt very 'verbal' today. Felt the need to do a lot of posting in different threads.
Almost like I was hyper. Not like me at all! I'm usually observing more quietly!!!

I did notice people were being 'cheeky', sarcastic & outright rude on the threads today!
Even some of the regulars that I would never have suspected!
I noticed that before. It might have been before the double 8's last April?
Is something brewing again???!!!
WOQ

Morning people...

Hope you're all ok this morning. I have to admit to high anxiety here, sore neck, ribs, feeling very panicky and not sure why...mostly is all calm here really. Weird thing to say, but the Pope spooked me yesterday, although I fully realise that has no connection to earthquakes at all.

Woke up with this in my head...worrying but enjoyable.

With the latest Earthquake in Nevada

MAP 5.1 2013/02/13 00:10:14 38.028 -118.052 12.4 NEVADA
, Im wondering if there will be a bigger one.

earthquake.usgs.gov...

earthquake-report.com...

Even though it was a shallow Earthquake, so far so good.

At least 28000 people should have felt a weak shaking.

Here are the I felt it reports from the link above.

Citrus Heights, CA - Was getting ready to fall asleep and felt it shaking for about 18 seconds while laying in bed. Sacramento, California - Rolling sensation. Bishop, ca - started with a light back and forth roll, then slowly rolled alittle stronger. Seemed to last about 12 seconds. Folsom, CA - Orginally from southern cal and have been through 3 earthquakes including northridge so I am familiar with them. I work for a large coporation on the forth floor and felt the floor along with my desk shaking...or I should say swaying back and forth. Interesting as it is the first one I have felt since I arrive in Sacramento 16 yrs ago. Bishop, CA - Rocking motion. Continued for about 30 seconds. Folsom - Could feel my chair shaking at my desk. Sacramento - I was on the 12th floor of the Wells Fargo building in downtown Sacramento. Fresno, CA - second floor office. 5 seconds of quick shakes then slow rollers for another 10 seconds. curtains moving. Fresno downtown 8th floor - In our 8th floor office, we felt a solid wave over just a few seconds. I knew without a doubt we'd just had an earthquake... .
