How many of you have health insurance?

Come'on guys, be honest with me. How many of you actually have health insurace? from your job or on your own. If my research and speculation is correct, only 30% of you guys have health care. Affordable.

And if you don't have any then why not. lets say you are a single person, it would cost you about 300 a month, with kids and family, perhaps 600 a month. depends of course on what insurance and the copays and such.


Still, think about this, Universal Healthcare from Hillary Clinton would work wonderfully for you. Let me ask you this; would you pay 20 dollars a month for everyone else to have health insurance? including yourself? it's not time to be selfish, we have to help eachother. I'm willing to give up my great health insurance to help others afford it. I'd still have my same doctor and I'd be paying 5 dollars more than I'm paying right now. but see i'm a democrat and universal healthcare is the only way to help you. And i'm all for that. discuss.

With the exception of a brief period in 2007 the last time I had health insurance was in 1999. The last time I visited a doctor was in 1997.

I would not advise this strategy to anyone, (self employment was largely responsible in my case) but a lack of insurance has not adversely affected me to date. Health insurance is decidely a wise choice, but in my own case I was (luckily) not disadvantaged in any way by my lack of it.

I have healthcare. Do you, or did I miss that in your post? I seriously doubt it is only going to cost us $20.00 for universal healthcare. I have used the VA before and I have to imagine that will be a fairly close comparison to what the govt has envisioned for universal healthcare. I really hope it doesn't happen.

The healthcare system is shot, no doubt. But a government ran, universal healthcare system is not the answer, if you ask me.

Do you mind me asking how old you are? As for me, I can't do without health insurance, knowing my family history. I've already had 2 kidney stones emergency visits, 7 stitches on one eye for a fight, a small hernia operation, removal of tonsils. etc. so you see, i would have had to pay for that out of pocket and I could have never afforded those procedures if it wasn't for the insurance. it's important for everyone to have health insurance, Hillary's plan is the only way to help ourselves.

it works great in canada . . . and from what i've seen from American doctors. They aren't earning their worth.

I'm sorry that you had to use VA, i've seen a documentary on that, they have the worst healthcare available! you make no sense sometimes, why do you hope it doesn't happen? because you don't want to help people and want to be selfish? think about others who need it, would you pay 50 a month? I would if the poor and homeless received the care they deserved. I think you just care about yourself.

I already pay closer to $100.00 a month. Since when has the government shown that it is capable of properly managing something as important and large scale as Universal healthcare? That is why I hope it doesn't happen. They already run free healthcare for vets and it is a horribly broken system. Now expand that sytem to fit the entire country and it will become a worthless mismanaged mess.

You have to have a little faith there. You believed in your government when you joined the military didn't you? most americans voted for Bush and the war and people still don't want universal healthcare, what's wrong with you people!? there's something wrong when you believe that Iraq had weapons of Mass destruction, yet you don't believe that we, United can manage to take care of our health system. We would still be using the same hospitals and doctors, the only difference would be that it would be affordable for everyone with one flat fee. And it would be lot less than what you are paying now, let me assure you.

If the Marine Corps were allowed to run Universal Healthcare, then I would believe in it. I enlisted in the Marines because I believed / believe in the Corps, not our govt as a whole. I saw mismanagement first hand while I was in when we were constantly being forced to do more with less due to govt problems, not Marine Corps problems.

Again, please stick to the topic at hand. Can you provide any evidence that this will cost less than $100.00/mo?

Hillary has said on video that it will be very, very affordable for everyone. If we do the math, 200 dollars is not affordable, 100-not affordable. using logic, one can say it will run under 75 dollars a person. i'm willing to pay that.

In my own opinon that sounds a bit more like magic than math.....

Logic is one thing, but for the purposes of this conversation let's not equate logic with guessing?

I don't have any . But that's because Australia has a 'socialist' and evil 'commie' sort of system where you have a choice.

Private health insurance is more expensive once you pass 30, so I have some time yet before I have to worry about it.

The only thing I've directly paid for in health care is the cost of the phone call to make an appointment.

75 dollars a person? I can't even afford that half the time! Yes I have health insurance. I have BadgerCare +, which I thank heavens for everday otherwise I'd be in debt up to my eyeballs, specially now because the way things are looking I am borderline diabetic. Just for a box of strips it's 50-100.00 dollars. My meds I take are 65.00 dollars just for one month!(I should know... when they did the switchover for BadgerCare + I got lost in the system somehow and was without insurance for last month. I used my tax return(that I was trying to save) to get my meds, or else I wouldn't have been able to afford them.

Universal Healthcare is a good idea, but I don't think it will work, our government is too corrupt, too many greedy people out there, and I don't think the insurance companies would go for it.

You seem to equate health insurance with health. I doubt that I'm the first to break this news to you but "health" exists completely outside of the realm of health insurers. In fact, I would dare say that "health" is a dirty word among those who reap their billions through "insuring" us.

Simple seagull, 400 million people pay an average $40 a month. Including illegal immigrats. this is enough money flow to cover everyone. it's really a simple method that needs no explaining.
