For the OP:

Hey blimpseeker....

Which Sunday did this announcement happen? can you give me the date it was read out?

We didn't hear anything over here... mind you I'm in NZ. But I know they have been pushing us to get our 72 hour packs ready for the past couple of years....

For other posters:

Usually when a letter from the Presidency is sent to be read out at all meetings it is always to be taken seriously. Though I have only found out on here about it... But I will be talking to others about it to see why... It could be for one particular area maybe? But I'm just guessing...
They have never specified a date before (that I know of)... I find this particularly interesting!?!?!

This happened this last Sunday the 20th of April.
I also checked with some family in Mesa Arizona and they did not get the July 1st message. He said that the last letter read to them was the one about not contacting Utah or Church leaders with questions concerning Doctrine but to go to our immediate leaders such as the ward or stake.

Another thing that is freaking me out is that we are up in north Louisiana and hurricanes do not bother us. I think if it was a hurricane relted problem they would have stressed the one year supply and not the "grab and go" 72hr supply????

Religion told me what to do for 25 years of my life. Religion is a lie and should be exposed. Humor is one tool in my arsenal that I will use to point out the ridiculousness of organized religion.

Freedom of speech.
Denial of ignorance.
Truth exposed.

They are big on survival preparedness. They always have waterbarrels and dried foods in the home. I think I remember my former neighbor who was a mormon saying that they are required to eat from the survival foods a certain number of times per year - to rotate stock and to help the body get used to survival foods.

Actually - It's pretty darn smart of them.

I don't think this 'call to have emergency supplies ready' is anything new .. or threatening.

Believe what you must but the bottom line is, your post is still offensive and not contributive to the thread.

What makes it unique this time is that they gave a deadline date. July 1st.
This has not happened before.

I beg to differ. These organized religions, or at least factions of them, are controlled by the PTB. Why should I be concerned with anything they have to say? The underwear suit is comparable to the face covering burka. I say we leave stone age shackles in the 20th century where they belong.

Secondly, you can tell me that what I said is offensive to you but do not pretend to speak for the population at large.

What are you, a three year old? I'd say diapers should be your underwear of choice.

Back on topic,

I'm no longer active, but I was born an raised a Mormon. I'm still a Christian and I just have some Doctrine conflicts with Mormonism. Mormons are wonderful people who I still love. When I started reading the books in Christian Bookstores about them I was deeply saddened by the lies false Christians were writing about them. They are lies by the way. I'm drifting off topic; sorry.

In the 60s they required each member to have a 3 year supply. What happened to that? We always had a large supply of food in our basement. All home canned food. 3 days is odd.

Did they abandon the 3 years required and 7 years recommended idea?

Has there been any talk of the "White City" prophesy of late, if you know what I'm talking about. It nearly split the church as I recall. Any major church buildings going up just north of Nephi on a hillside?

You have completely misinterpreted the garments. Oh well, why waste the time. Your too into your fiction. A life based on hate and bigotry is no kind of life.

Give me a break Blaine. You know exactly what I was referring to. ERGO why should I, a non-morman, care what a memo handed out in a morman church says? I will not join the morman or any other church no matter how much they try to scare me into thinking end times are near.

That is what the memo amounts too. Terrorism. Think about it.

PS: I am 40.

My life is based on love for my fellow man and earth inhabitants. There is no need to go slandering me now. perhaps my point was too crudely made. I do enjoy sarcasm and humor so much.

The point of all my responses is that this memo amounts to terrorism, in my opinion.

I remember the 3 and 7 year reccomends, but it has been a one year reccomend for a while now. The 72hr one is fairly new.
I don't know of those other issues of which you speak. Alot of temples have gone up in the last few years since they started building the smaller les expensive buildings. visit lds.org I am sure they have a list of temples and locations.

funny how that guy is allowed to be offensive to the Mormon religion but heaven forbid someone made an anti muslim statement.

If you have no interest, you are just trolling are you not? Attacking peoples faith is a personal attack. If you had a bad experience with a church I can understand your anger but you should not use it as a weapon against others not involved. Good luck with working out your issues. I understand believe me. Don't let hate cloud your judgment is all I'm saying.

I apologize to the board for letting it get to me.

My friend you are in for a suprise if you think religions or any other institution is going to get a free ride in this forum or on the internet as a whole.

What is wrong with making an anti-religious statement anyway?

I was very young but the White City issue nearly split the church. It was talked about very hush hush. It had something to do with a rift in the church over who the real Prophet should be. Like I said, I was young and it made little sense, but I remember the future site of the White City being pointed out to me. It was near a warm springs pond I learned to Scuba Dive in north of Nephi on a hillside.

Due to my age at the time my memory is sketchy about it.

It's fine ... as long as you get the facts straight AND it's within the topic of the thread. I'd add - as long as you educate someone... but that's my own opinion.

I'm pretty sure the topic of this thread is the Mormon Church having survival supplies as part of it's call to it's members.

I don't think their baptismal garments are part of that discussion.

The church is probably on high alert since the polygamist ranch raid in Texas last week. I don't doubt that Mormon leaders are feeling a little bit of the Persecution Paranoia right now.

(Shakes head in wonder)
You are attacking innocent peoples faith and you can't see that it is a personal attack? It is no different than attacking someone for their race or gender. You made your choice, why attack others who have simply exercised their own freedom to choose. Oh well, if attacking peaceful loving people is your agenda, it is your right.

I'll try it this way; you are grossly off topic. The topic is the letter.

You do know that what you are talking about has nothing to do with the Mormons? I hope?

People have been confusing the two for many years. I've read entire books based on that mistake. Lots of lies in print about the Mormons and many are based on that misconception.

Yeah, I know the difference.

However, when it comes to ignorant blanket persecutions by fascist authorities, anything can happen. I think the leaders of the Mormon church are well aware of that fact also.
