The sad part of it is that many use religion to support that intolerance.

Careful Marg, isn't a similar statement what got Obama branded an 'elitist'?
However, I totally agree with you. I still find it odd that a religion that preaches love, is often the first to condemn,

That is very interesting personal story, that is one of the question we most ask about artificially engineering reproduction.

Perhaps science will provide with the way to thin out markets that can become a problem with the embryos genetic codes.

But that will be a reality in the future now is more like science fiction.

This involves Children who have a soul from God!
What egotistical, self-adoration people have who want to clone THEMSELVES.

I don't think you would have said that if you had read the article fully. It says nothing about cloning anyone. It's about wanting to have a child to give love to. Same as heterosexuals. Plenty of heteros have children without really thinking about/planning it. Plenty of them have unwanted children as well.

My mother and father adopted me when I was 6. Though I"m sure they tried thier best, I was always an outsider. They were far-right Republicans while I am a raving left-wing Progressive (used to be Dem). We couldn't be more different than night and day. They were both so full of rage and hatred, I was always getting screamed at and in the end, after I grew up, my mother disowned me 4 times and told lies about me to the rest of the family, which they believed so that they ended up turning against me. I think it would have been better off I think, if I had grown up in a family without all the hatred and ragefulness, even if they were gay or lesbian. It wouldn't have made any difference what sex they were as long as they loved me.

From what I've seen, oftentimes gays and lesbians have more compassion for others, including children, because they know what it feels like to have so much hatred and discrimination directed at them. They know exactly how it feels to be the outcast. I believe that the quality of compassion for others, goes a long way in helping to raise children who grow up mentally healthy.

Oh please, take your dogma out of this house.

An absentee father and single mother combination is far worse than having two mothers.

How can you call a hypothetical child born of this technique a "freak of nature"? I could blaspheme against your faith right now and say that a virgin having a child without a father is "abnormal" and "unnatural", but i think the child of that situation turned out A-OK, wouldnt you say?

Once, just once I would like to see a thread regarding homosexuality, without opponents talking about gay people ramming things down their throats. You want to know why people accuse you of projection?

Because you're always talking about gay people ramming things down your throat.

You bring an issue that is very interesting, many anti-gay supporters and vocal speakers seems to be in a rage state when it comes to gay topics.

Makes you wonder if the rage state and demeaning speaking is to hide emotional And psychological issues.

Talk to the hand. lol.

Jesus Had a Father AND a mother. Father God and
Joseph ALSO took him as his own.

***Forestlady;

Yes, it would more than likely be cloning, because with no female or male
They would have to gene-splice and I am thinking to have the child SHARE their genes, they WOULD DEFINITELY use their own DNA.

While you WERE adopted, (I was by my Step-Dad) you could still IMAGINE
about your Mother AND Dad.
These children would only have half of a picture.

Thats a very good point, i often question why we were given the intelligence to do such things and yet we are forbidden to use it for the advancement of our species because some god cares to much about us?

That's a very good point man
Personally I have no qualms with calling technological and medicinal advancment as "natural". Hell I have no qualms with believing that kind of progression is what our Creator wants for us!

Unfortunately I think many people in this thread arn't really concerned about nature per se, I think it's a scapegoat for the fact they are really just 'drawing the line' at homosexuality.

this thread is full of homophobes and bigots. FACT

As Marge noted, they are coming in swarms as of late. That could be a conspiracy in its own.

Yes, TWO. hehe.
*** BUT, he ALSO had a caring mother. A maternal unit, if you will allow.
I had THREE DADS. My Father in Heaven, My Biological Dad (Who died.) AND my step-Dad (who I called Dad.) and my Mom.

There are so many stray children here in the UK looking for loving homes, it's a shame gay people are wanting to take this course of action.

The problem is, they moan about how straight people and gay people should be entirely equal and that they have some sort of 'right' to have a baby. The way I see it, it's not some sort of 'right' but a gift.

Personally, I think if you can't conceive naturally then you should adopt or take the measures that are currently in place rather than turn to measures that go against nature completely.

Yeah, one was an absentee father

I'm more concerned that the product of these experimental births would be in some way deficient. I'd hate to see a flood of mentally retarded children or children with physical deformities being produced from this effort. However, if it's proven functional and safe, then by all means, have at it.

I believe that children of Gay parents often growing up feeling more loved and cared for than those of many heterosexual couples. Often children of strait couples are accidents (and with many families that are anti-abortion, they're seen as an unavoidable burden). And, because they're accidents and burdens, they're treated as such, with less love and care.

Gay couples that seek to have children do it whole heartedly, and with real love. They don't have to have children. They could live their lives alone, but instead want to have a family that they can share their love with. In effect, they are more of an example of a stable nuclear family than many heterosexual families are.

Hey man that's great

But thats far from the normal 1 MAN 1 WOMEN traditional sanctified marriage you guys keep talking about!

3 Parents?

Again that's great, but uh, you guys shouldn't be preaching down our throats that people should have 2 parents, a female and a male, when you yourselfs believe you had 3.

I'm sure given the chance that gays would rather adopt than clone themselves. Notice I said, given the chance. What's that again about constitutional amendments banning homosexuals from adoption?
