i wouldn't say there was any 'great detail' in that thread at all. just a lot of bullet statements like 'do human/reptillian hybrids exist? yes'

really informative stuff.

and yeah, it involved dragons.

damnt his really sux!! i was really looking forword to read what he had to say. and yet someone here has decided to tell me what i think is true and wipe it clean. i really think you should let people post what they have to say , and if you decide(not everyone else) that it is untrue, then move it to another section and not delete the whole thing.

Yeh Dragons, I love Dragons, I`ve got one that lives in my back garden, WHOOPS now I have started making things up! No I should have said " greater detail " I admit that I was just trying to pass on info, I did not really have the time to read it all in great detail, but I still wish that I had been given the chance.

Apparently, The ALERT button works well! 34 minutes from alert to ban.

I don’t know if it was the alerts, or an eagle eye mod. In any case, it was dealt with
Very promptly.

Kudos to mod elevatedone for quickly closing the thread.

I really like that saying Qwenn: “Don’t mess with ATS”

This is a quote from Redmage from the now deleted (good riddance) thread:

Wait; so you're not a previously banned member, nor was your post a so called "Hoax".....

Is it just me, or does anyone else see any possible issues with that statement?

You had many open ears in your other thread, yet you chose to throw that opportunity away.

If you're not here merely seeking attention, why open up a new thread/account to say:

And my post:

Redmage,
You are absolutely correct. This is where we will see how well the ALERT button at the bottom of his post /posts
Works!

I absolutely regret having to post in this thread. (posts like this should be ignored until credentials or proof
Of some substance is provided)

I am merely pointing out the ALERT button should be used to bring this to a rapid resolution.

Until a better solution to this problem is found, the ALERT button is our best option in this case.

There is a thread that invites input from members to try to solve theses problems.

Help ATS be a part of the solution to the whistle blower situation

i didn't get a chance to read the thread, btu couldn't it have just been moved to creative writing? instead of deleted and banned?

We don't intentionally give liars and hoaxers free publicity here. We don't let them feed their egos by seeing their bollocks on a huge website.

If the hoaxer would have started out by posting in creative writing there would not have been an issue.

He grievously violated ATS T&C’s .

A banned member cannot re-up with a new name and same story!
This may be a good time to review the T&C’s

Take a look at them, if you have not yet done so.

“Deny Ignorance” is more than just a neat saying around here, it’s a way of life!

I have only been here about 2 months, and I have learned that this fact is amazingly apparent.

sorry, i did not know he was banned and re-upped with a new name, i knew he was called a hoaxer by a lot of people, and that there was still some people who wanted to hear what he had to say before they decided on thier opinion of him.

after the first few posts that were deeming him a hoaxer and a liar, i quit reading everyone elses posts, as i was only interested in his story. i guess thats where i made my mistake.

edited to add: just got home from work and went straight to the last pages.

Its really not a problem.
One of the first things I learned here at ATS was “read the whole thread” .
I have read this entire thread and have just now posted to it.
Its all cool…good to meet you, by the way.
Peace

Whoa there, it almost sounds as if you think I deleted the other thread. Rest assured, I have no such abilities or privilages here.

I can tell you that you didn't miss much at all. He made 3 posts, and I replied with one.

He opened up with "I am not a formerly banned member, and my thread was not a hoax."

That's why part of my reply was:

Wait; so you're not a previously banned member, nor was your post a so called "Hoax".....

Is it just me, or does anyone else see any possible issues with that statement?

From his opening lie, he went on to say that he was going to "discontinue his disclosure", to which I pointed out that he already said as much here, and if that's all he wanted to say, he'd already accomplished that goal.

He was merely seeking attention, and posted a bunch of drivel (attempting to insult members' intelligence, and whining about how he was going to take his "ball" and go home).

Then he "answered" a few questions like:

"Do aliens exist? Yes."

"Does the illluminatti exist? Yes."

"Is the earth hollow? Yes."

"Will the earth end in 2012? No."

Etc, etc, etc.

The vast majority, of 007's third post, was simply Yes/No responses that you could glean from any of David Icke's books/seminars; so if you want to know 007's opinions, go pick up some of David Icke's materials. He may not be the most credible author/speaker, but at least Icke is willing to put his name on the line for what he believes in.

I no longer have the post available but I'll attempt to paraphrase what I ended my post with.

All that members wanted was something of substance that hasn't been said numerous times before. If you have any new evidence, please share it, and people will gladly take it into consideration; however, if you're simply back here to say that "we don't deserve your revelations, nor would we be able to comprehend them" you can save your energy. That is a tactic that hoaxers have used time and time again, and if you're serious about disclosure then you should rise above using such "base" tactics. Many here have seen it before, and it's hard for members to not cry "hoax" when, so far, you've been following the hoaxer's checklist to a "T".

1) Build up yourself, and your story.

Check

2) Make extrordinary claim(s).

Check

3) Claim forthcoming evidence.

Check

4) Do not provide said evidence.

Check

5) Claim that those who don't blindly accept your story are Gov. disinfo agents, or attempt to insult them by saying they're not intelligent enough to comprehend your tale/evidence.

Check

6) Threaten to "take your ball and go home".

Check

7) "Snap": claim that it was all lies, and/or request a ban + delete.

Check

Again, If you have anything of substance, please share it, and people will gladly take it into consideration; however, it is hard for members to not cry "hoax" when, so far, you've been following such a classic pattern. As of yet, you've provided nothing that couldn't be found in one of David Icke's books/seminars

While that's strictly from memory, that's the gist of it, and I'd put it at roughly 70-80% word-for-word. You can't walk into a bank brandishing a gun, and not expect the tellers to hit the silent alarm because you say "Don't worry. I'm not a robber"; and you can't come to ATS displaying all of the telltale signs of a hoax, and not expect a few members to call you out on it.

Like I said though, you really didn't miss all that much.

Is the increasing popularity of ATS attracting more hoaxers?

I thought about this as a thread title, but abandoned the idea, since it's being discussed already here.

Could it be an example of how a very great thing can succomb to unpleasant attacks, as it becomes more visible and more attractive?

Is this the nature of the Internet? Is this how it should be?

I use, as example, my very brief encounter with YouTube, to support my thesis that, left unchecked, a site can degenerate because of the forces from outside. It takes great leaders to keep the reins tight, and stay in control.

Doesn't mean 'censorship' or any other terrible thing along those lines, it means staying true to ideals of civility and scholarly discourse.

Just an opinion from a junior 'member'....

Could it be that fact that people are basically anonymous in this setting on the internet.

Some what like a crowd shouting words. It is hard to tell who said what so a person feels shielded. A person may shout something because it will not be connected directly to him/her.

redimage,

When _007 "2.0" said he was not a previously banned member, I think he was referring to elevatedone's cryptic implication the he was banned member Hard_2_believe, not the he wasn't the OP of this thread.

I, for one, was a bit dismayed to see the HOAX tag added here before _007 laid out his evidence.

I came to this thread late and didn't get a chance to pose a question before _007 was banned. But I did pose two questions in the second thread. They had to do with his claim of the Earth being hollow. I would have enjoyed reading his attempt to answer them. Oh well.

While I understand Springer's rationale for shutting deleting the second thread, I still think that the HOAX tag may been applied a bit too hastily to this one.

Hi Springer,

Coincidentally, I posted something in the creative writing forum last year with some elements in common with this thread - and at least one or two people wrote responses or U2Us in relation to the story suggesting they thought it was true.

All the best,

Yup, as usual, I read the entire thread before posting, Springer. (After all, it was either do that or more crossword puzzles while the factory hums along.)

But, as others have observed, it seems that his mea culpa post was designed to look like someone other than he himself had written it -- as if it were written by some nefarious shadow governmental operative.

Some posters, consequently, asked for the IPs to be compared. (They probably were but the results were, understandably, not discussed in the thread.) But my point is that the mea culpa post was, imo, part of the unfolding event, not an honest admission of hoaxing. (That would have come later, after he'd been properly exposed, of course.
)

Edit: Incidentally, since _007 was able to join ATS yet again, he is probably aware of IP tracking and may have been clever enough to insure that his mea culpa post showed a different IP from his "normal" posts. I'm curious to know if that's the case.
