Here some even older UFO pictures, some are as old as 1870.

Best UFO Pictures Ever Taken: 1870-1959

Couple things I have questions on dealing with this painting:

1. Why did the painter put that blob in there? I'd doubt very much that the cardinal or bishop who requested this painting would have been happy with a large black blob in his painting.

2. How does one know that this blob was put there by the artist delibratley? Could it be mold? Or could it be something in the underpainting leaking through? Maybe the blob was orginally a bird and the chemicals in the oil paints have started to decay and mush into a blob shape. It could happen if the bird was added at a later date with different oils than the orginal paints.

3. What makes you think that this is a UFO? True, our modern minds jump to that conclusion, but the medevil mind could have viewed it diffrently.

By the way, the closeup makes the blob look more to be a bug than a blimp.

There is a secound kind of skeptic for future reference. That skeptic consists of a person not easily persauded by strange pictures of unknown
objects that possibly could be anything and not at all persauded by "stories". This particular kind of skeptic would like to believe but needs proof, plain unadulterated outright proof. As well, this skeptic has an open mind but, is unwilling to jump to the conclusion that if it can't be described it absolutly has to be from ET.

Thanks,
Vance

Don't confuse the inclusion of "UFOs" in ancient or centuries old paintings. What we construe as a UFO, and whats been promoted as such by the ignorant or unscrupulous are explained by art and theological scholars here:
Ufos and Art

Yes, the enigma has been around for a very long time. However looking for UFOs in biblical paintings can be a dicey game to play w/yourself.

Yeah thats a pretty neat site...lots to learn about symbology and in some cases, blurry non-detail pics. The one I found the most interesting was the ring of angels...ya never see that close so it of course looks like a disc. Misleading info put out about those paintings, by those not really doing their research very thoroughly.

Hi,

If you are refering to the Madonna painting, look closely, there is a man pointing up at it, so this was no blob.

Exactly.

Remember many theorys have said the greys have visited our planet thousands of years ago...The little man pointing up at the "object" is clearly a slap on the hands, Its something "not from this world"

There are many more paintings like this..

Looks like the canvas has a hole in it to me... puncture in the canvas

[edit on 12-3-2008 by elevatedone]

I saw this picture first hand 15 years ago and i promise you there is no holes in that picture, and the object in the picture is made up of paint, so there you go shocker

It seems that the people who are closed minded skeptics are the people who say ufologists are this or that but all remarks pointed in the direction of all UFO believers are mistaken, which is fine seeing as i have seen one or two for myself which where not Airplanes, Helicopters, Blimps, swamp gas, ball lightning, birds, clouds,or a man with a funny hat, and yes these where reported with evidence in the shape of a photo.

To me it is not important what people believe, it is important that they look at the evidence however, unless they do not wish to know, then that just means they are not going to be part of any investigation because they are so close minded.

I believe also i have seen as someone suggested there is a picture from the 1870's

There are a lot of pictures out there even this one called the civil war photo, which i think is fake, IMO

So after all is done and said there is tons of evidence out there all of it ridiculed by somebody, But always remember if you see one for yourself nobody can take that away from you, and you have nothing to prove to anyone.

As you can clearly see that blob on that image is clearly some sort of ancient bug caught in the painters lens......

Sorry i just had to.

nohub, you could take the light out of a star,
take the warmth out of the rain,
take the higher out of power,
and take the minute + seconds, out of hours

I remember seeing a photo once from the year 1870. It was supposedly a ufo. I cant remember what website it was on because it was so long ago that I saw it. The reason why I remember it is because There werent any known flying machines in 1890. If I recall correctly it was a cigar shaped object in front of some clouds. I guess the only point im trying to make is that if the photo I saw was real than your photo is not the oldest ufo photo. Id love to find that old pic again though.

There was a big report at that time about an airship over america, seen by loads of people, businessmen claimed to be behind it, a new invention coz nobody had flown at the time more than 100m.

wow look at these pictures from all over the place.

Two cave paintings from Tanzania. Both are estimated to be up to 29,000 years old.

6000 BC from Tassili, Sahara Desert, North Africa.

and this is giving me the goosebumps:
Petroglyphs dating back thousands of years ago by ancient Indians in the American Southwest. According to Indian folklore, two objects collided high in the sky and one crash-landed in the region of Death Valley. Some men arrived (presumably in another ship) and spent some time repairing the damaged craft and were observed by the local Indians. The two images below may possibly depict the ship (top) used by the men who came to repair the damaged craft. In comparing the two images, the one on the bottom seems to depict structural damage around the edges and the bottom of the "ship".

Nice Thread Flagged!
I tend to think that it is not a hole, or a bug... but put there intentionally.
Why? Some have already answered! Theres a small figure that is pointing directly at the man.
