Very true. I certainly agree with using common courtesy; however, I also understand that many people have reached their respective breaking point's when it comes to the 'courtesy standard'.

People are outraged and disillusioned by the fact that we are now run by a group that completely ignores the will of their electorates. Every attempt of a valid investigation has been stonewalled using the veil of 'National Security'; and people are getting tired of all of the secrecy, and lies.

This wasn't just goofy college kids either (as some seem to think). The man escorted out at about 1:20 into the video, posted by cams, looks a lot like he could easily be a white collar professional. Heck, from the look of him, he may even be an outraged professor (with tenure of course
).

Remember, "Don't tase me, bro!" happened at a Kerry speech, and that recieved far more media attention than this has.

Because we don't want to go back to the old days of lynching by mobs, vigilantes, etc. by people who believes a person has committed a crime or just don't like that person. Hence why its called "hate" crime.

Lock them up for expressing a view which differs from yours...

Ahhh...
How liberal, non-thinking, gut reaction without thinking & no clue of you...
Did you comprehend what I wrote? Apparently NOT!

I did NOT say they should be locked up for a day because of what they said, I said it because of how and where they said it. Big difference. If you are going to be disruptive and prevent people from speaking and annoying the entire audience because you are having a hissy fit, then you must pay the piper. I'm not sure about this event, but people pay good money to attend some of these events.

Regardless, if you want to be immature and heckle him, then do it outside without being disruptive to all the people attending the event.

Typical of folks like you tho....

If the U.S. was like China, Soviet Union or Germany, then these people would be considered political prisoners and sent to concentration camps, gulags, or reeducation camps, etc.

Timothy McVeigh tried that, he sure wasn't welcome like a hero.
Shower of flowers and stuff.

Perceivedreality probably believes McVeigh was a government agent, and not someone of his ilk. It's his remarks, or death threats actually, that cause MSNBC reporters to make statements about locking up Truthers in Secret Prisons.

this is truly encouraging. as a baby boomer, i find a good number from my generation that simply "do not want to know" and have said as much and others whom i dub "sheepal" and still other who are scrambling for as much as they can get at any price. nuts.

this incident would definitely have an impact should the young form a united front before Bush (the village idiot) declares Marshall Law.

Permits to hold peaceful demonstrations are typically under $100 and easy to obtain. If a group who wants to make a point can't come up with that, they can't care very much.

WHAT??? Am I understanding this correctly?
So, if you want to make a demonstration you need a PERMIT??... and you have to PAY FOR IT?

So, people are NOT automatically allowed to gather ' round and protest PEACEFULLY?

Is this some kind of joke?

Am I the only one who can't make sense out of this??

Sorry about so much "rhetorical" questions...

Peace

Edit to add: "...and you have to pay for it?"

Everyone who was involved and can be identified should be prosecuted and expelled from the university for good.

It is the right of a speaker to be heard and the left has spent the last several decades attempting to silence those with whom they disagree, a tactic that flies in the face of everything that the Constitution protects.

The only way these actions can occur without legal recourse is with faculty complicity.

Universities should be "marketplaces of ideas," but in fact our campuses are hostile environments for those whose ideas are at odds with the leftist agenda.

This was a disgraceful display, but they are common on campuses throughout the nation, where speakers are shouted down, physically assaulted and otherwise prevented from exercising their Constitutional rights.

The only people who applaud this behavior are spoiled brat kids who, if their parents didn't foot their bills, would be standing in line at day labor agencies.

The only good thing abou this is that Rove got his forty grand.

excuse me? how did you arrive at this conclusion? i take it you did not come from a priviledged upbringing and know much about day labor agencies. i totally disagree and the 40,000 given to Rove was yet another theft from the american people.

Absolutely not!

This is a public institution, funded by tax payers and the students who work very hard for their money. In fact most of them will have to work 3 years or more to save $40,000.00 they paid Rove.

When someone is paid that much money for an event they should be thankful and courteous regardless of the circumstances and act professional because that is how they are being paid.

People are upset and voicing their 1st amendment rights, thus protecting them at the same time by exercising those rights.

The fact that a $40,000.00 paid individual would react the way he did, shows the true nature of the beast. And to boot shows he doesn't have a conscience by not returning the money.

If he was a true professional he would return the money.

Then complain to your liberals who are running the school and actually paid him.
I'm sure you would turn down that much money for only speaking your mind.

People are upset and voicing their 1st amendment rights, thus protecting them at the same time by exercising those rights.

Ok, so what?
Don't disrupt the hundreds of other people who are behaving themselves. These people who did this are just little crybabies who cannot tolerate anyone who thinks differently from them so they throw a temper tantrum.

If he was a true professional he would return the money.

Umm....WHY?

He got paid for his time and insights. It's not his fault there are some loonies in the audience.

Grady,

You have your facts backwards, as well as your logic.

Look at what your saying.

1) Rove is not exercising any constitutional rights, he was paid $40.000.00 as a professional.

2) Whether you like it or not, and regardless of your comments about spoiled brats this is a public institution, funded by students, parents, and tax payers. They have the absolute right to exercise the 1st Amendment. And the fact that some of those students have to work years for $40,000.00. Carl took a bit of flack for an hour or less.

3) Rove lashed out, not professional, he should have bowed out earlier and saved faced. Rove made statements that truly showed his true colors, I myself was taken back by his comments.

Well,

Your right from that perspective, in that the others that want to listen did have a right to, but the fact that Rove reacted the way he did was wrong.

And your right about the temper tantrum, Rove's behavior was not excusable since he was the professional there being paid.

It's really great that our educated collegians can't even get the mechanics of how a "citizen's arrest" works down correctly.

Yeah...... Way to fight the system there buddy............

Deny ignorance.

The "Justice System" is BEYOND BROKEN...Time and time again, ALL OF THESE CROOKS have circumvented the law, with the help of the completely CORRUPTED Supreme Court...There is no longer any system of checks and balances---No accountability for these elitists. Time and time again, they commit crimes---Lying about EVERYTHING to send us into Iraq, resulting in the death and suffering of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, as well as tens of thousands of our soldiers...The illegal wire-tapping and shredding of the constitution, crapping all over the civil rights of americans...And yet EVERY TIME, the charges get TOSSED OUT!

And the SOLE REASON is, because the Supreme court is totally POLLUTED with Cronies of this CORRUPTED administration...

I know the next argument will be, "The charges get tossed out because there's not enough evidence to charge them!" That is the biggest load of BS ever...They don't get charged because the entire system is rigged and infiltrated---It's been completely corrupted.

Hence why people are now starting to become fed up enough to take matters into their own hands...

If the system of law will no longer hold our political criminals accountable, then who will? IT WILL BE UP TO US-THE PEOPLE.

You have the freedom of speech, that is you have the freedom to say what you want without fear of prosecution.

However, you do not have the right to be disruptive. Often times, even the most peaceful demonstration can be disruptive in some way. A permit allows one to be disruptive, and legally protects those protesting.

[...] McVeigh is not "of my ilk". Am I comparing you to a criminal? I am not blowing up children for my cause unlike our president is in foriegn countries for oil and heroin! I am not making death threats either! However, I am stating that I do see it coming to violence eventually, as Congress and the will of the people has been pissed on by this president and administration. There is no other options left.

I mean come on...now the "Decider" can sing a little ditty about Cheney witholding papers and the room of richie neo-con supporters laughs along with him? How about hiding obscure clauses into bills giving himself immunity. (at least for torturing detainees) This has got to stop...maybe when YOUR quality of life is affected, (and it will be along with 99% of the public) you'll understand what options are left to envoke change. We are way past the point of voting for change or peacefully protesting. The American people along with our Congress are a joke to our bastard president.
